My late wife wasn't thrilled when I said back in 2002 that I had two tickets to see my comedic hero at Bournemouth. Karen didn't want to go! After four hours plus of Karen screaming out in laughter and delight, the ladies of the row in front of her turned round and said "you enjoyed that, didn't you!" The privilege of seeing Ken perform live is just that, an absolute privilege and for giving Karen such a wonderful night I thank him. There are few celebrities that make you cry when you hear of their death. Ken . . . tears are souvenirs for you and Karen. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Happiness!

This country lost the greatest ever comedian. Rest in Peace Sir Ken. And thank you

How could he remember so many jokes and deliver each one as fresh each time. I never saw him in person but never missed a TV performance. My late wife loved him as much as all his stage & screen pals on this show. A selfless and decent human being. Such a pity his well deserved knighthood came so late and with so little time to enjoy it. His lovely wife Lady Ann is equally hard working and totally DESERVES her retirement and her title that she worked so hard for and equally dedicated her time to their charities. God bless them both xx

The greatest comic ever. I saw him live many, many times and loved every show. I still miss him, his shows and his fantastic personality.

Ah, this actually brought a tear to my eye, bless him. Such a humble character and unquestionably the most entertaining individual in the industry. Lovely to see the late great Victoria Wood and then Eric Sykes who of course went on to appear in an episode of Dinnerladies, VW's terrific creation. And like Victoria, Sir Ken will be remembered long after their passing.

I was at secondary school in Bolton. We were reading 12th Night in English Literature and saw Ken in the theatre in Liverpool. He lit up the play as Malvolio. RIP a great man.

I loved that his shows were affordable for everyone. The last time I saw him live was October 2017 and he was amazing. The time before that the show started at 7.30pm and I left the theatre at 2.20am and he was already 85 by then. You certainly got value for money.

So lovely to see how much the great man was loved by his public. And how effortlessly Ken just launches into his act on stage - the place he was born to own, a giant in the comedy business there will never be another to take his place.

Sir Ken Dodd of Knotty Ash..my relations didnt believe there was a real place called Knotty Ash in Liverpool..but there is and it's where Ken lived. I met him a few times and photographed him for an opening of a store and spent an afternoon with him, he was funny, kind and very professional. The greatest comedian Britain ever had, he was actually a precursor for the eccentric comedy of Monty Python.

What a performer, humanitarian and just such a decent person. A true legend who will be missed.

This man embodies all that is great about Great Britain. Nowadays everything is amazing, fantastic and brilliant and TV personalities are national treasures.However there is no-one like Ken Dodd for sheer professionalism,longevity and wonderful spiritedness. As funny and kind a man at the stage door as on the stage. Go to one of his Happiness Shows for a 5 hour show and you will leave aching with laughter but on a wave of joy and love. His audiences adore him because they have grown up and old with him and because his show is an experience good for the soul.I have seen him a dozen times and know some of the jokes but we keep going back each year to Eastbourne because he is unique and we feel so uplifted afterwards. Thank you so much for putting this on.

I think I was 4 years old when I saw Ken Dodd (+ the Diddy Men) at the Pavilion Theatre in Glasgow. Had front row seats with my 2 sisters, brother, Mum + Dad. Happiness x

What an amazing talent. Knotty Ash and Liverpool have been blessed beyond measure to have had Ken Dodd living in their midst for so very long. He gave his all, and his all was so sorely needed in times past and still today. Thankfully, he is still ever present with us, at the flick of a switch' via radio or television. Who could ask for more than this in this present day? May the legacy he left behind him endure forever. Rest in peace, Sir Kenneth Dodd. Jess.

totally agree !!why he has never been made a sir is beyond me. Ken has been a family favourite all my life,..I was brought up on him, my mums family are from Liverpool and my grandma loved him,as does my mum..and me too. Never a swear word, just silly, sometimes a little saucy but never smutty!. what a wonderful man ken is !!

He is truly one of the best, or the best comics that I have ever seen. I can remember watching many of his shows and I can say that he is a true inspiration to both young and old. The charity work That he does also is absolutely fantastic. Let's hope that when he has gone somebody can take his place and comedy doesn't die off coz who ever does has got a lot of hard work to be on the same level as him. I am about 6ft and i call my dad one off doddie s real Life diddy men as he only 5 ft 6 as my dad as a sense off humour now a retired entertainer is the music game singing in clubs pubs up and down the country was on tour with the late gerry marsden in 79 on the LIVERPOOL Explosion TOUR PERFORM TO 8000 AT BLOOMFIELD ROAD THE RAINBOW THEATRE IN LONDON WHEN A MEMBER OFF THE FOREMOST. being funny and witty took it on the chin he finds it very funny I call him my diddy dad having a scouse sense of humour loves it in fact. I agree why do we not recognise real stars and stop giving to Bankers, Footballers and pop stars etc. Ken so much deserves a Knighthood and what a voice he has there are not many singers out there who can sing like Ken. Come on England wake up and do the right thing. There are not many greats left and many who have sadly passed away were never knighted.

I agree it seems that loads of Bankers and Persons who do not pay their taxes get rewarded but poor old Ken who has done so much plus more for the country gets forgotten (is there no justice in this world) come on give Ken what he deserves.
