I wish they would add a 2 minute unskippable cutscene for every summon

I was really hoping theyd kind of do like picto where our summons change elements and get stronger to ramuh shiva and leviathan. Summoner is my current dps main and this is so irritating.

I think Solar Bahamut IS cool but there's. . . so much more that Summoner needs. It feels like a modern level 60 job. It's promising but anemic.

"Endwalker summoner is to set the foundation for future summoner additions" Future summoner: Get's literally only ONE new button. Everything else is just reskins and trait upgrades. WOW. How innovative. I'm not counting the 500 potency heal. It is redundant and not needed. If they wanted to give us utility, then we should be able to freely summon Phoenix for Healing. I feel like anyone else who thinks this is fine is on strong copium imo.

I am disappointed in Summoner in Dawntrail! There is no reason we could not have gotten 3 new summons! We could have gotten Shiva, Ramuh, & Leviathan!

It's weird to see FFXVI go hard on summons, but then FFXIV gets just another Bahamut. I'm not upset, I just don't get why.

Honestly it would be better if they picked another of the major summons instead of solar bahamut, like shinryu, odin, zodiark, kotr, alexander or hydaelyn. and for each new major summon, the subsequent minor summons would be different. For example bahamut - titan, garuda, ifrit. phoenix - shiva, leviathan, ramuh. kotr - ravana, bismark, susano. hydaelyn - waring triad. Each new major summon having basically the minor summons we met in order. And to avoid missing buff windows increase the power searing light and decrease it's duration and cool down to be in line with every major summon's duration. Could save a button too if they made it go off with the summoning of a major primal. Then you just give each major summon its own gimmick. Bahamut damage, phoenix healing, kotr dot, hydaelyn buff/finisher (where if you use the finisher auto unsummon and it's not available till you use the other normal attack a certain amount of times before time runs out). For funsies they could also replace aether drain whole line with whichever primals they haven't tapped yet with like lakshmi, and anima while keeping the function in tact. That uses almost all they known primals in the game. Also good to note that major sweeping job changes are coming in 8.0 and they very purposely changed very little. smn wasn't broken so they didn't fix it for 7.0.

Wow. This is trash. "Solar Bahamut" looks like crap and isn't even fitting Summoner lore or theme, not to mention BAHAMUT lore or theme. Mechanically, we get no new tricks or anything of interest. Who wanted this? This is like Summoner didn't get the memo that there was a new expansion, and instead fell down the stairs and suffered severe brain damage.

They killed smn after shb. People complained the job was too hard to learn rather than read tooltips or pay attention to job quests. Now they’ve mad the job so simple that people can play it with 0 skill tier and complain it’s too easy. The biggest barrier to shb summoner was the playing using their eyes to read just like most other jobs.

For the number of summons in the game, every spell should be a different one.

We wanted shiva ramuh and leviathan not this. There is so much empty space in summoner’s hot bar. Black and white carby? ANYTHING!

All they had to do was switch Ifrit/Garuda/Titan with Shiva/Leviathan/Rumah between the Bahamut/Phoenix phases. Then throw in Alexander, or even a random summon like Doomtrain as the new big summon. Come on SE. The dev team really just put low effort into this job. Hopefully in 8.0 with "Job identity" we will get something along this line of thinking.

here’s a solution! they could have upgraded bahamut to Knights of the Round or something, and switched up the rotation so that after KotR, it cycles through Ramuh, shiva, and leviathan, and then the player does phoenix, which then cycles through titan, ifrit, and garuda. it wouldn’t have done much for the rotation, but it would’ve certainly done more to entertain the players with flashy new summons than whatever solar bahamut is. they could have also maybe given the jobs something more to do, like instead of just summoning bahamut and phoenix, you could make your spells “bahamut aspected” or “phoenix aspected”, allowing the bahamut aspected abilities to do more immediate damage, the phoenix aspected abilities do less, but leave a DoT. also, adding back things like miasma and pet abilities could help significantly with making the job more entertaining

FFXI has 20 full model summons, and FFXIV cant even do 7. Why is it that modders have the time and resources to make jobs look better?

I was a Summoner main on FFXI back in the day, so when they announced the crossover alliance raids I was considering maining SMN again for dawntrail, expecting some awesome chances extending the primals que can summon but nope. I could sign a petition for egi/primals Glamour changes so we can pick flavors for the 3 "basic" ones and the 2 "burst" ones I think some "reskins" of spells/primals could be: - Garuda / Ramuh - Ifrit / Leviathan - Titan / Shiva - Lunar Bahamuth / OG Bahamuth / Odin - Phoenix / Sophia / Lakshmi

I was going Pictomancer anyway but I was hoping for SMN to have a new summon. I feel this is a monkeys paw moment for me

I would have vastly preferred something like changing the Ifrit/Garuda/Titan summons under Phoenix to Ramuh/Shiva/Leviathan. They don't even have to function that differently. Just the visual change would be enough for me tbh 😅

Solar bahamut is cool problem imo, since we removed class quests is whyyy can summoner now do this? No fucking reason they just can, it not replacing current bahamut so not a "oh you tapped into deeper bahamut". It be so much more intresting for class quest story line for how summoner gets it.

I would be way more fine with Summoner if Solar Bahamut was a fusion between Bahamut and Phoenix, like physically, like an amalgamation, that would be cool. Modders, please.

After this was announced, I saw them explain that Solar Bahamut is closer to the in-world original Bahamut. I think that's a pretty weird choice honestly. Not only does the primal form look better imo, this design wouldn't even thematically fit the rest of the first brood or any other dragon we've seen so far. Especially looking at the detached blade wings. I'm curious to see if and how they explain this in-universe

Summoner since Endwalker is now strictly for when your high or drunk and thinking is not your forte in the moment.

This was the most disappointing shit. Would have been less of an insult to just remove the job entirely till they figure it out

ooohhhh I get it now. Bahamut is Astral while Bahamut II is Umbral, bet you next expansion we get a alternates to the core 3 summons.

I’ve said this many times now but I feel like current Summoners would’ve been happy had they made these changes but also slotted in Ramuh, Leviathan, and Shiva on the Solar rotations. Their game play could’ve even been very similar to the current primals but by doubling down on the SMN fantasy people would’ve stayed enamored without all the flashing lights.

I cannot even put into words how disappointing SMN is. It already feels like a level 70 job at 90, now it's gonna feel like a level 70 job at 100 too. I just...wtf were they thinking? By 8.0 it's gonna need the equivalent of 30 levels of upgrades just to feel developed on par with other jobs.

I'm just amazed how they missed the mark so much after getting the job fantasy down.

probably because when you already get phoenix and bahamut 2 of the strongest primal, but shiva and lightning guy is like lesser, comes after phoenix and bahamut feels...bad...

All they had to do was add Shiva, Leviathan, and Ramuh for the standard summons, and Odin as an occasional thing for buff windows, and I would have been happy. There are obviously other improvements that could have been made, but just completing the ARR set would have left me content with the job. Oh well, maybe in 8.0 I'll dust the tome off.

This could've been a Bahamuth updgrade but not a new demi. A new demi, if it ever came, could've been Odin(mounted sword). Wonder if they'll think to redo it in 8.0 or 9.0 to what everyone's been wanting(the other three primals as Phoenix's phase or something along those lines).

I would just make summoner a dot DPS (like an affliction warlock from WoW) and just have the summons be these amazing potent attacks.

So literally the only change to your damage rotation is that once every two minutes, you get one extra oGCD attack, and only for Dawntrail instances... and that's literally it since the new Bahamut basically is the same damn thing mechanically. Outstanding.

You laugh at it but SMN will be the most played caster in dawntrail due to ease to use, decent damage and raise. The most consistent option, the safe option.

After Shadowbringsrs, we were expecting that in 6.0 we'd get Alexander. Instead we got turned into garbage. Now the garbage is Fester2-ing. Why...the F*** is there still a melee combo?
