This 1957 Firestone 3.6hp was made by Scott Atwater, but by 1957, Scott Atwater had been acquired by the McCulloch Corporation. As the years progressed, McCulloch dropped the Atwater portion of the name, and they were known as 'Scott' for a time, and eventually, they became just McCulloch. This 3.6hp was a staple of the original Scott Atwater outboard line and continued on under many different names, such as Firestone, Wizard (for Montgomery Wards) 'Scotty' and others until the mid-60's! It's a great little motor to start your youngins' out with or your grandkids! I just can't get enough of these wonderful parts of our country's historical contributions in the outboard industry! Thanks for watching 👀!! USA 🇺🇸

The little Firestone was my very first antique outboard / first outboard. A local farmer who restored model T's and antique tractors knew that I loved old machines and he gave it to me along with a five horse Mercury I believe both of them were about a 47 model. My dad and I cleaned the points and got the Firestone to run rope start of course. I loaded it up in my Pee-wee Herman size Schwinn with a basket and wrote it out to a local Farm Pond to put it on a little aluminum boat and buzzed around the pond to great glee. Thankfully I still have the motor on the motor rack along with its friends in the corner of the barn.

When I got the motor Mr Han told me about a story that they took it up to Canada on a rented Wooden Boat on a fishing trip and the motor vibrated itself off the transom and he was able to grab it just before it completely submerged off the back of the boat! We took it over to another Farm Pond and put it on a 10 ft flat bottom boat with a very light kid and it would actually plain out and you could really hear the RPM of the engine change when it came up on a plane!

I would have to agree with leaving that one original. It’s very clean.
