Replace the air drier. Get a good bendix one and replace it annually. Especially with an i-shift truck, you want that air system as dry as possible to prevent costly repairs on the transmission

Hey man I'm not sure if you check these or not I just ran across your video and wanted to lend you some of my experience with these. It's all cause and effect really, if your pledge valve is going bad that quickly you might want to check to see if there is oil in your system caused by a bad seal on your air compressor. You can usually tell this by the smell of the air that comes out of your purge valve or sometimes if you have a Volvo like me it will turn a spot on your side fairing black or a little bit of oil will come out when you release some of the air out of your tanks. This will cause other issues with other components in your hair system including your regulator, the air dryer itself, or the junction manifold under your truck that feeds are back to your airbags and stuff. Just for reference a new air dryer filter is $80 online and a whole new Air Dryer assembly with a new filter included is about $200 that is a no brainer.

Very helpful vid , I got stock in a traffic jam of Chicago air dryer was bursting air like crazy had to put a piece of rubber with zip ties I just so I can build some air pressure to get me goinging went to the dealer to get the parts he wanted to charge me $300 for labor thanks for your vid I did it myself parts was $83 more then what you paid

A trick that works some times if Purge Valve is hanging/stuck open; hold your hand over it while it's leaking to stop the air from leaking out, wait a few seconds and some times the back pressure will cause it to pop closed again.

Informative I bought purge valve kit couldn't figure out how to install it and just replaced whole dryer. They are so cheap on Amazon now

Nice video. 3 years later and Volvo charges $145. How a spring,few washer,couple of rubber O-rings cost $145 is beyond me

Definitely need to change that dryer. Also I see you can do a lot of maintenance yourself that can save a lot $$$$. If you had a shop do that that would have been a couple hundred a pop. Keep the wheel turning be safe out there.

Get two valves so you have a spare. The failure frequency is high.

I would buy a few of those valves to have on hand just in case. At least until Volvo can fix the problem.

Your truck just like mine has a recall on air dryers. There is a malfunction on those air dryers . oil and water gets in and contaminates the brakes. Make sure they fix it for you for free.

I'm in hotshot (2 years now) planning on making the jump to semi in another year. Do you regret the jump? Are the profit margins alot better?

I have a question about DOT inspection, on Dodge Cummins 3500 tires. do they have to be a certain size or anything special about the tire? Just bought a used 2014 and just wondering if I need to go get certain tires before going to get it inspected

change your air dryer it,s got crap in it thats whats taking that valve out. that valve should last years not months

When you see a part that requires all those pieces it makes me want to punch the engineer in the face or atleast see him/her fix it themselves.
