As a college graduated engineer, I continue to DELIGHT in the ideas and creativity of guys whose genus is expressed with their hands. I'm a geezer now, but the most valuable lessons I ever learned were from the guys in the shop who made and fixed stuff. Thanks Frank for another excellent and informative video!

Frank, I used your idea of putting the fount assembly into a vice but I could not turn the fount to loosen it from the burner assembly. So what I did was I took my belt off and put the end through the buckle and placed the loop over the upside-down fount. I then pulled the loose belt end to tighted the loop. I wrapped the belt end around my wrist and then held the fount with one hand while pulling the belt with the end wrapped around my wrist. It worked perfectly and it worked even better when I had to tighten the found onto the assembly and turn it so it lined up correctly. I then took the belt off the fount and put it back on my pants! Easy, easy, easy!!! No more trying to turn the upside-down fount with my hands!

Damn. I got an old dual fuel that goes bright then dim then bright then dim, and never stays at a constant light level. I'm going to need to watch a bunch of your videos to figure it out I think... LOL

Hay Frank hello my elusive friend !!! Where have you been ?????? Love your videos.. That's a good idea, a few weeks ago in a antique store I found two lanterns like the one you lite in the beginning of your videos ,, but they don't work, they also had a gas powered iron made by Colman, it's small but heavy. Question : do you repair lamps like that ? It doesn't work they wanted 50.00 each ( I think ) is it worth it ? THANK you Frank from montana....

the table lamps don't have much to go 'wrong'. there is a check valve in filler cap and a seal(lead i think). 2. you most assuredly need a new generator. a straight shaped one works but the looped ones work and look better. you over paid for the lamps btw. they work great tho. they are labor of love as the shades run about $100

I kept thinking oil filter wrench while try to free my Fount from the valve assembly, but after elevating my body higher over the vice I got better leverage. I have a question: electrolysis with battery charger with the positive connected to scrap iron and the negative attached to the found fuel filler threads on the fount all submerged in water and baking soda , it should atomize the rust removing all trace, just rinse out afterwards. You think that would work ? I used nuts and screws in the fount jiggling them about after an hour of White vinegar soak, but I see micro sized rust in solution rinsing . Do you think electrolysis would be okay or should I just go back again with white vinegar?

Thank you very much Frank this is excellent especially for someone like me. I was contemplating trying to build your original lantern clamp but living in an apartment limits my capabilities somewhat. This design however is super simple and will be perfect for me. I found an old 220E from 1963 at a garage sale 2yrs ago for $10 bucks. And about two weeks later stumbled upon your channel and I caught the Coleman bug sorta speak lol. Now I've got almost a dozen lanterns and have been having a blast learning how to rebuild them. Thanks again Frank for your help good sound advice is really hard to find these days.

Great idea! You could do the same with a decent strap wrench like from Klein. If you have a wood table, you could make some pegs that bound the wrench handle, depending on the direction you wanted to go. Remove the pegs from the table table when done.

I have an over sized strap wrench that I use. It's the same concept although with the strap wrench you need to have it on the thick part on the tank at bottom or you can make a small dent in the tank if it's really stuck together.

Could you please make a vide on how to stored coleman lanterns and stoves long and short term.
@crabtrap
@crabtrap Год назад
if you run coleman fuel you really shouldn't need to do much. but draining for long term is a good practice. also replace pump cup with leather. i store mine with fuel caps loose or off this stops the seal from getting deformed over months or yrs and also stops condensation building in tank

@@davidapp3730 PS, Frank is lighting a coleman white gas pressure lamp in vid intro. Its important u know which lamptype u have before buying shade. Yours is truley 'lamp oil' type the shade will be much less expensive. Also a white gas lamp will need a shade with higher heat rating
