Next weeks settlement will balance it out, will be interesting to see it, keep on trucking! Also it’s not bad to start out in a slow market, if you can make profits in a “trash market”, when it turns around you will be killing it in a great market

The suspenders are back! I look forward to your vids every week. I've said it almost on every video. Your information is solid. You have goals. And the other people saying oh that's Junk pay. Here's the thing. YOU have goals. Not money. You did exactly what anyone going into lease should do. I was a lease op for over 4 years then purchased my own unit. The dry van rate is low as 1.50 to 2.00 currently. Here's the thing. You work for a mega carrier. They have steady freight. True owner ops are struggling for constant freight. The rates are low yes but no one mentions the volume is extremely low. You have goals and a carrier that has freight. It's not about what you take home. Most lease programs you won't make alot of money. That money goes towards the truck payment. If you stick it out you could potentially own the unit at some carriers. That's the goal and experience on becoming more independent. You are doing great for YOUR goals. Not everyone understands it. They just want large amounts of money. You gotta crawl before you can Walk. Maintenance and fuel will kill you faster than anything. I purchased a unit in 2023. 3 months later needed a clutch, used truck mind you. Well I had them inspect the transmission just in case. Turns out there was wear/damage..luckily factory warranty still wss in play so I got new transmission. Clutch was wear item. No warranty. But a new transmission would have set me back 10k luckily warranty picked that up. Try to get your own fuel card. I can refer you to someone if your interested. Fuel is #1 expense. Your welcome to contact me if you have any questions or want to know what I've learned as a lease op and owner op. Respect to you for posting real numbers. Alot of junk vids out there and alot of it has to due with driver not wanting to drive. Can't do 1k miles and make crazy money.

Thanks for your insights here. When is the earliest that the mega carriers would allow a new CDL driver to transition from a company driver into a lease operator program?
@mr3000gtman
@mr3000gtman 4 месяца назад
@ppbutler1967 every company is different. Some will allow you to immediately. Some you will have to wait a few months. It's best to research whichever company your interested in. Doing homework on carriers will help greatly

You won’t make money running out west. Fuel taxes, fuel prices and fewer available freight lanes make running out west unprofitable, I live in Oregon but when I go out I refuse to go back west until I want to go home. Been out six weeks so far this year after taking some time off in January and things are going very well for me in 2024.

16:31 just before spread sheets. Have you thought about increasing your fuel mileage? That 93 empty at 6mpg verses 9+ mpg with a trailer axle off the ground. It only took me 20 minutes to lift an axle. And what is this fuel and mileage tax? That makes no sense. Or is it just another charge applied to you by your carrier? In case anyone is asking, my IFTA is between $35 qnd $75 a year. But my gallon purchased is less. What air pressure are you running? more questions than answers.

Excellent video once again. Next, get out of the lease op game, build your business model, go to your bank and apply for a small business loan and buy your truck. 34 years out here, retired and now I drive for my pleasure and own 3 more trucks that I have Excellent drivers in. Im leased on with a great national carrier and with the revenue youre doing with one truck, you can eventually do 4x's that. Now when I'm off and out camping in our 5th wheel, we still have 3 drivers making $$. Stay with it, but get out of the lease game.

I am going to give you my experience from spending 40+ years in trucking and what you should do. First off. You seem like a bright willing to learn man. With Knight you should first sit down with them and have them put you in the Las Vegas terminal. Next have them give you the up to Salt Lake City and right back freight. Here's the problem with KNIGHT and will be your problem trying to make a living with them. THEY FAIL TO PUT STEADY FREIGHT ON STEADY PEOPLE. They have the freight that will work for you. Like paper towel loads up to Salt Lake City and Diapers or water right back to Vegas. But then they will screw the living piss out of you making you run a drop and hook over to some Sam Club and spend two or three hours going around looking for a empty trailer. Or sit for a night and half a day waiting at some shitty Costco to unload. They won't do what they need to do. Fully hire day cab hourly drivers for their MESS. (Which there are a lot of good people (Drivers) who want the local jobs. You LEASING cannot afford to be spending your time (MONEY) cleaning up cross town pickups that don't pay shit. Again they have the dam freight to make the right things happen and people be successful. But fail to do it. WHY ??? That's the question. You could run back and forth with drop and hooks for them till the wheels fall off just doing Vegas down to LA and right back. Try to talk to them. Maybe you could be the Knight RU-vid channel that finally changes trucking. Good luck. Try to wake these morons up and do the right thing.

I've done both lease and own but the only difference is that you cant leave with the truck even if you own a brand new truck and trailer 100% independent you can get alot of canceled loads lease drivers are basically making the same as owner operator but with the mega carriers getting payed the same for every load and miles suck because they need to pay the same rates on the load board I book my own loads and I get 2.50 load to $3 a mile but it's still hard the trick is to take light loads and have the cheater eld's if you don't have that and get payed less than $2.80 per mile your operating at a loss the only way to beat the game is to cheat logs 😂😅
