Thanks! I really wish I didn't lose the before pictures of the right front corner. It was really smashed when I got it. So much better now😀. Zach wants to play this week too, so stay tuned!
Love it! I saw his guitar poking around on the left side earlier in the video and thought: "Hmm - I wonder where this is going..." Awesome to do some Garage Time with your son!
Thanks Chris, it won't be long before I run out of restored parts to assemble. Then it's back to the grind. Your car is progressing really nice. When this lockdown is over you should be enjoying some summer weather in that beauty.
Its looking fantastic Tom, Your son's music is great. It's funny you showed the steering shaft. That's what I have been working on. I even borrowed your rustoleum idea for the paint.
It’s really coming together, and it’s going to be amazing! The live music was a great touch! I’m lucky, I still get to go to work, my wife has been stuck working from home for about 4 weeks now, and my oldest daughter got stuck staying here, she was suppose to move to the east coast at the end of March. Hopefully things return to normal at some point.
it's always a pleasure to get a new vid, see your great job and that you manage well with quarantine ! it was a good idea to introduce Zack and his guitar. we want more😉. see you Tom
😎 Your son is a spittin image and talented like the old man...lol. Amazing how a situation brings families together and gives them more time to finish on-going projects.
It's Rust-Oleum, but my own mix. I used the same paint mix on the interior. The recipe is in this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KvZCeyeYkho.html
Hi, I have tried to brush/roll on the epoxy primer and I encountered tiny air bubbles which when popped left holes through to the steel (or too close to it for comfort). Have you had this issue and how do you apply with brush/roller without air bubble entrapment? Cheers from New Zealand
The top coat in this video isn't epoxy primer, it's Rust-Oleum. But I did brush on some epoxy to the bare metal spots prior to touching up the undercoating. I never saw any bubbles with the epoxy I used, SPI. I'm careful not to put it on too heavy. I takes three coats in some cases for the brush marks to disappear. Have you tried reducing it by 10%. I sometimes get craters in the epoxy primer when sprayed on too heavy. Never had any problems with the brush though. Never tried the roller with epoxy. Have you seen this video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2pO8qNGC2kE.html This is one where I brushed the epoxy.
I used industrial Rust-Oleum and then added a bit of enamel hardener. In the US Rust-Oleum is available at the hardware store and I order the hardener online. This is the same paint used for the gas tank and the other small bits I painted this week.
@@GarageTimeAutoResto I've been on the fence over the last week on whether to start a 997 roller to track car restoration. Watching your videos have really inspired me. Thanks for being so transparent with the cost as well, it takes the fear out of starting such an overwhelming project. A 997 project should cost way less than a classic Porsche and require way less custom fabrication.
Great to hear about your project! Do you plan to DIY? That's the only way my costs are as low as they are. I would expect a lot of the race car mods to be similar in effort and cost although a 997 will much stronger than my vintage chassis. Best of luck with it. I hope you will reach out if you need to exchange ideas.
