Another mod for MORE power on the HDR 50 

Try with the 10cm barrel extention now , you will get around ~30 joules with your 5,1g ammo

I had not bothered doing anything about that disc previously, but a popular mod is to drill out the hole in the disc to about 1.5mm. Now if I fit a powerkit and it comes with the disc I always change it, and it does seem to make a bit more power. If you have an 11 joule, you can remove the block and drill the disc and get between 14-16 joules.

I used a gun cleaning pick to increase the hole size in my T4e and I use nothing but Deeez Bullets from eBay ,they are perfect and impact harder because they're made to leave the gun faster with a flat base instead of the hollow base for the ammo.

@@garlicboy5692 same hole mad dog drill 1.5mm. I drill 2mm. In my kit I get stainless teel..hard like hell. Afraid to brake a 1.5. Get around 18 hard punch..predator 4.8gram.

so do you mean that you've removed that little disk and it still works for 6 shots? more power? louder?

@@homeagent Yes Both more power and louder. Power is about 450-500fps depending on ammo or the really heavy stuff 275-350fps depending on weight. 6-12 shots usually around 8. Now with the hpa hooked up I have to put it back in or it will pour out the barrel unless I turn the pressure down. So if I'm running HPA anywhere from 800-1200 PSI I have to put the blocker back in the grip.

it will not be centered and it will canter when you start drilling. Talking from experience.

Either the 7.5 or 11 Joule can be modded for more power, if you get the 7.5 joule version it doesn't have the co2 restrictor disc in the handle, so when you remove the valve block you will need to put one in. All parts come in the powerkit50 from homedefence-24

If you have the 7.5 joule version, you won’t have that piece in your gun. If you fit the powerkit, the piece is included in the kit.

I have both versions, and never had a jam on either of them. I did have a problem when I changed the barrel, the barrel spring got wedged so the barrel couldn't move and it locked the drum, easily fixed and not a problem since.

Ost jams due to ammo if gun maintained properly. I make my own ammo amd check diameters and lengths of slugs and purchase the balls. If you get jams I'd look to the ammo if action working smoothly .

Release the pressure, by pushing in the pin that pops out when you charge it. It should then come undone.

@@Maddogairguns thanks for the vids. I find them helpful and enjoyable. I've got a HDR and just bought a HDX and going back through your vids for help and ideas. France looks nice and a decent piece of land to test on. Also disabled through strokes so can appreciate your motivations. Keep it up and rake care.

Agreed. It's maybe 1-1.5J on some of the shots. but really it made little difference.

That's really odd I have a 7.5 joule model and even without the blocker and valve removed it doesn't just pour out the barrel. I only get about 6 shots but it works fine

@@jmarsh667 its very common many people in the hdr groups had this happen with just 2.5 mm i heard at least 20 gone bad in the last 6 months check out the groups on facebook

@@UmarexLessLethalHomeDefense can you explain a little more please? Is mine bad or did I get lucky that I can use it without the blocker in the bottom. Is it bad to? I'm trying to get lot's of power out of it but still want as many shots as possible while having max power.

@@jmarsh667 ya for mine i added a shorter pin 2mm removed the valve block and drill out the co2 restrictor in the co2 chamber 1.5mm now im using hpa 1100 psi output for hpa you must remove the co2 restrictor also i added the tuning run barrel extension and im getting 61 joules with 3 gram slugs, my buddy is getting 78 joules with 1300 psi hpa, if your on facebook join my group, Less lethal home defense 50 and 68 cal i made 3 carbines and a sniper rifle out of a hdr and hdp, my hdp is maxed out as well, at 78 joules it sends a 8.4 gram steel bearing around 450 fps, lethal for sure lol

Hi. I designed and made my own upgrade kit based on these videos + rifled barrel with slugs. Quite a steam hammer now and very loud. Im in Cape Town.

@@franklinesau3635 hi. What's the price of the barrels? I removed my valve and frilled the co2 restrictor to 1.5mm. Pretty loud now. Get up to 8 solid shots.

@@isghaakjattiem5954 Hi. Ideally 1mm hole in the pressure chamber insert gives about 12 shots with the 1st six being hard. I have yet to put these in production.

You can buy the 11 j valve online for 30 dollars and put it in the 7 joule version I’d just buy the 7 and put the upgrade in if I were you

@@Maddogairguns I've removed the block already once I make the 1.5mm hole in the disc is their any need for the power kit

@@sully9836 It depends who you talk to, some say it's just snake oil and makes no difference, but I have seen slight gains after fitting the power kit. You will get more gains by fitting the tuning barrel and extension if you have already removed the block and drilled the disc.

@@Maddogairguns last question sorry I don't want to take up to much of your time can you make the 1.5mm hole in the disc and use power kit same time also what would u recommend would u recommend a power kit or making the 1.5mm hole or both I want max power at the same time I don't want to run out of co2 ridiculously quick getting very few shots

@@sully9836 The more mods you do, the more CO2 you are going to use. So it's up to you where you go with it. Mine is 11joule version, valve block removed, disc drilled to 1.5mm, shorter pin fitted, tuning barrel fitted, it now makes about 25joules (depending on ammo) but only get about 5-6 good shots with good power and then it tails off a bit.
