I believe what your mystery arrow point is aggotized petrified wood, We get alot of these crude arrowheads up in Alberta Canada, yours is actually well made. the layers are nothing but the trees growth rings coming through. some layers are aggotized while others are not. they used what would work for them . we enjoy your shows up here and plan to inspire our grand kids with your shows over Christmas as you educate and entertain very well. Keep up the effort and have a Merry Christmas. Stay Well Norm & Audrey
scott that adena would have been super nice. that little point with the stuff on it is an oddity for sure. we have places around me with a lot of iron in the soil and it will make deposits on points. not sure if that’s the same scenario where you are. maybe it was sitting on a piece of trash for years. just an idea.
I like your videos a lot better than most. You put a lot of effort in what you do. Good luck! I have something to say about that rust. I have rocks that do have inscribed arrows on it pointing to what looks like rust coming out of the rock. So they were, at my guess, were figuring out how to make steel of some sort. I have a lot of weird rock items.
Great video Clegg!!! Found some nice ones. Not sure if u uncovered the make of the mystery item... When I first seen it I was thinking a novelty item to stick on the fridge... But that's just a guess. Thanks again for the adventure
Nice finds! That one piece may have bee flaked from the outer edge of a rock. The outside of a rock is weathered and often looks different from the inside.
Nice job!! Maybe it was a natural deposit in the stone , n some lucky native figured out metal!! You might have the first crossover stone metal point!!!! Maybe send to him Bennett, he would have the best answer I would guess? If you do find out let us know? Thanks
good video. I recall a while back you were going to try out a system to draw water from the river to rinse on the sand. Sure seems that would be better then hauling that bucket back and forth.
Townsend Walton please check out my previous videos. I ordered a cheap pump, which broke the first day. Tried and electric pump but water flow just wasn’t enough. I’ll perfect it one day. Thank you for watching.
Hey Clegg...enjoy the videos. Have a question though. Have you ever considered taking a small pump and wash away the sand like they used to hydraulic mine for gold? Just curious.
Yes, actually tried it. Bought a cheap little pump off ebay and it broke in 5 minutes. So, brought my generator and a sump pump, but just didn’t move enough water. If I had a 2” pump, it’d work for sure. I’ve found it takes a lot of volume, something to move a lot of water. I just haven’t gotten a large pump yet.
I have found a few iron points and I have been told that they were traded to the natives for furs but I have my doubts. I know of two places where stone was quarried that have iron slag and a strange type of iron laying around. It's kind of like a mixture of iron and concrete. Really if you think about it logically they probably always had a camp fire burning and in places like Kentucky and West Virginia they had coal and hematite both close together. Considering those factors I would have a hard time believing they didnt figure out iron at least to some degree
Stick the mystery item in vinegar. It will eat the rust and won't affect the stone It may have ended up in some concrete at some time in the past, and then was eventually released by erosion. Just a quick guess on my part.
After watching this one, I had to go through the comments. Was the mystery point ever satisfactorily explained or ID'd? Sorry to be the guy coming late to the party.
@@cleggsadventures We have all slept since then. That, coupled with being hit in the head, while we were younger, well...what were we talking about? Have a good 'un.
