On the witness forms, the legislators will want to see Illinois residents (i.e. their constituents) filling out the witness forms. If you have friends or family in Illinois, ask them to do it. Have a good day.
We do full time educational shows in the Chicagoland area, over 1200 per year, as The Traveling World of Reptiles. That is a lot of people that get to come into contact with these amazing animals in a fun and positive way. Not only would a law like this greatly affect our livelihood it would be detrimental to the animal education community here in Illinois. People will only want to save what they love and these shows help people to fall in love with these animals.
I may have to bring my kids in October when I'm in that area. My kids love reptiles. Even my 4 year old holds all of my burmese pythons, reticulated pythons, and my african rock python. Idk of any other 4 year olds with that kind of resume lol. There are not many 4 year olds as cool as her! Anyways, I'm sure that she and my boys would love to see your reptile education program.
Yea these program bans are ridiculous, I'll be putting out a breakdown of these on my channel as well over the weekend because it's a HUGE deal here with the events we want to conduct here in NC over the summer...want to do all we can to stay ahead of these things
My question is IF this ban gets passed, what happens to all these animals? These animal rights groups need a different line of work and stay out of these educational programs and businesses
@@TesseraCraft do these idiots realize how much these animals cost? We’re not talking a couple of dollars, we’re talking about 100’s and 1,000’s. Sheeesh. From what I understand, they’re trying to include all animals that are not native to Illinois. Goats cows cats dogs extra. Please correct me if I’m wrong
They don't care. They recruit the young adults and tell them they can save the world with a small donation, or by harassing responsible owners, and them them their carbon footprint is forgiven for it.
This is ridiculous. I can not believe they would actually do this! But yet, I can. I really can. I hope we all can fight this and stand our ground. This affects so much more than reptiles :(
They know what they're doing.. reptile programs are the single most effective way that the reptile community reaches out to the general public to educate and foster vital empathy for our misunderstood creatures. It also is the single most effective way that we can create new reptile lovers, short of bringing people to our house. Stop the programs, stop the outreach, fuel the fear mongering/misinformation, & use that new fire to gain scale tipping support on bill proposals, and it's check mate for the reptile community. Too bad we won't go down so easily.
It is demanding that I fill out a business name and title. I am just myself at the moment though I may be a business later with reptile adjacent products and some small level snake breeding.
I hope 4H will get behind this, too. Most people have heard of 4H, but may have no idea about USARK or reptiles. The more (and more diverse) voices, the better.
Thank you, as always, for keeping us informed about these bans. If I lived in Illinois I would quickly sign in opposition to the proposed bill. If folks were actually interested in benefiting animals, they should allow the herp community to show what responsible and ethical ownership looks like, and we gladly would (and do). Outreach by reptile owners and caretakers is so amazing, and it even encourages kids and families to be more willing to care and protect species. Additionally, compared to so many other communities, the herp community and its reptile shows are some of the most welcoming, informative, and positive out there--something our world needs more of.
Being able to show animals to people is crucial to education about them. And education about animals is a fundamental part of conservation of wild animals. It is completely contradictory to the stated purpose of this lobbying wich leads us to draw the conclusion that this is not about animal rights. Standing up for animal rights must mean fighting these bills so that we can keep educating people about animals.
Has anyone tried asserting choice of companion animals or educational activities is a first amendment right? I know it might be reaching out a little far but this trend is getting ridiculous🤔
