That is my holy grail! I have stopped using everything else. I sheer it out with some moisturizer most days, but it's freaking gorgeous! I live in Florida and it wears beautifully in the heat with a bit of powder.
I went to macys few months ago and just swatched it on my hand and i thought it was super cakey/thick. I Also live in Florida and def wont be able to wear this here
@@F_O_X_Y , I too found that the foundation is a bit thick for a humid climate (especially since I think the SPF in it is mineral based). As in the comment above on this thread, I have sheered mine out with moisturizer too.
This foundation works great for my 63 year old face and is all the things you said it is. It is my first EL foundation and they have a great shade match for me, 2C3 Fresco. So many other foundations have a light cool (think Dior “rosy”) which is too light, but the next cool shade is too dark. I have had to use neutral tones just to have the color light enough. Not with EL. Very happy
I don’t even really watch makeup videos anymore but when I see a Shelby upload notification I still click that shit immediately. I’ve got lots of love you, girl! Thanks for this, I just added it to my cart, it sounds like will be my new go to.
I picked mine up in 2021 and it really is gorgeous for dry or mature skin types. If only they would reformulate without the chemical SPF and fragrance. Thanks, sensitive skin 🙄 So happy you are enjoying it though and 💯 it is far more lifelike than the original. It was my fav of the three by far. So beautiful.
I bought it after realizing it had chemical spf. I know I am in the minority, but I really dislike makeup products like foundation with chemical SPF. I get why it is super popular, saving a step etc, but I'd rather it not be in it.
@@adelaideelfie4922 I don't think you're in the minority. I believe that most people who care about sun protection prefer to use their own choice of SPF underneath foundation. Probably not a good idea to rely on SPF in foundation. Makeup brands should let us choose our own skin care and perfume, if any.
Sold! I just ordered it in Cool Bone, as you and I have the same skin and eye coloring. Thank you for this recommendation. It looks gorgeous on you, Shelbey. xoxo
This is one of my holy grails! I've been using it for about a year and whenever I just want a no trouble foundation that I KNOW is going to make my skin look flawless and wear beautifully, I turn to this
It came out early 2020. I’ve LoVed it ever since, haha. Thanks for a great vid! It seems good for the skin. No matter what my skin is going through, this foundation wears beautifully and doesn’t cause irritation. 😃
Loved your review and couldn't agree more! Love this foundation. I'm always amazed when I'm wearing it at how natural it looks and how good it makes my skin look. Thanks for always giving us such informative and honest reviews.
It's a deal breaker for me too, but this one does smell like cucumbers. It's a fresh scent, if that matters? Not like Dior/Givenchy/Chanel type of perfume. I bet it's only there to cover up the smell of the SPF.
This one is so underrated. It’s my favorite! I was starting to wonder if the other hyped foundations were much better because it just doesn’t get talked about Thanks for validating!
I use about a half pump for my entire face. Sometimes, I put just a bit of the regular Double Wear mixed in with it if I need to be sure of coverage for 12+ hours.
I bought this during an Ulta sale. I had such high hopes for this foundation as much as I tried to love it, it did not look great on my skin. I had the sales associate help me choose my color, so I don’t think it was a color issue. I have fair normal skin with very little discoloration, so finding a acceptable foundation is not usually too difficult.
Hi, being in Canada in a very cold dry climate, I ordered it right away, I believe it will like it a lot..it might be what I wanted makeup by Mario to have been, I have mature dry sensitive skin, and I like liquid textures..take good care
Oh. My. Goodness. Literally stopped this video 7 seconds in to comment how amazing this hair color is for you!!! I've watched your videos for a long time and this is absolutely the best!
I stumbled upon this foundation a year ago and I have never used any of the other foundations from this brand. I literally just picked it up and tested it on my hand and magic happened!! I bought it right away and I’m currently on my third bottle. I recently wore it at our Governors inaugural ball, (a black tie event) and my make up looked amazing in the pictures:). I wear this to a parent teacher conference, while cleaning out the chicken coop and a Governors ball! Its amazing!!!!! My daughters wedding is coming up in April and yup….. I’m wearing:)
First of all- I truly love your videos! You are a joy! I too love this foundation. I have the double wear and the double wear sheer and also the furturist. It is so nice to have a holy grail brand with various coverage levels!! So happy to hear you love this also!
I was SO excited to try this again (I had a sample when it was newer) so I purchased it last week. It looked nice… though I was not as wowed as you are. The problem was is that after the first full day of wear I had some bright red welts in a few of my particularly sensitive areas. I’m not sure if it was the fragrance or possibly the octinoxate in the spf blend, but I was not going to keep trying it or not keeping it at $53. I’m sad!! ☹️. It looks beautiful on you! And, btw, I think EL shades run a bit dark for me. I had picked up Porcelain and I really liked the shade but I think that’s the lightest in this formula and I know there a people fairer than I am. Thanks for the review! 🤍
I love this foundation! I am 3c2 . I have a hard time with color matches because I am so cool. It’s been out about 3 years ago . I used to love the light Estée Lauder foundation. I get migraines easily but this doesn’t bother me
I have purchased this twice. The first time, it cling to my dry spots and looked so patchy! The color wasn’t quite right either. Then it was on sale at Ulta and everyone was talking about how good it was and I bought it again… in the same color based off of the swatches online. 😂 I am so annoyed with myself. I’m going to use color corrector to see if I can adjust shades and try the formula again.
That's been out for a couple years at least. I remember Emily Noel talking about it. She loved it too. So I know it's been out for 2 or 3 years at least.
Ahh! I was a double wear fan for so long, especially for 12 hour shifts as a nurse. I am a bit older now so I find it clings a bit to my dry patches, which is absolutely my own fault, but having a mid-level option is SO great. Thank you for the review!
Your adorable, you look great and you are back to yourself, Good for you!! I know after having a child how much the body changes, but whatever your doing is working! Keep up the great work that you do!! Your Loyal Fan, Stacey Hayes, Long Island, NY
I bought this 2 years ago after seeing other mature women rave about it. I think I either applied it wrong or bought the wrong color, but I haven’t tried it since. After seeing it on you, I am definitely going to give a concerted try again. I live in a very dry climate and have dry skin so some “dew” is not a bad thing! Thanks for the great explanation!
Thank you so much for this video! I ordered it and absolutely love it. I have combination oily skin, and have struggled to find a luminous foundation that is long-enough wearing to get me through a 9-hour work day, while not looking like a grease ball by the end of the day (looking at you, Armani Luminous Silk). This is perfection! Because I run more oily, I use it with setting powder and end up blotting/touching up with powder halfway through the day, but it truly is beautiful and just what I was looking for. Also love that I can skip applying SPF with this foundation. I used to wear Double Wear, but this is my new go-to.
That foundation looks amazing. I’m so glad you and I are the same winter shade … makes my buying foundations and concealers so much easier… I was at Sephora yesterday and I bought my first Dior lipstick. ❤❤❤ I bought the sheer /shiny formula shade 922. 💋💄. She is a dark red and I am in love❤
Thank you for reminding me of this one. I forgot I had it and can’t remember why I took it out of regular rotation….it is doing better on my skin now than either the Sheer or the original Double Wear…the perfect in-between! It’s amazing!
I think this reminds me a lot of the nars one, their newest one, it looks very similar on the skin, but the nars one I find lasts a bit longer on my than this one when set properly. But this lasts well for 7 hours for me without any issues.
This foundation is GORGEOUS. I'm wearing it for more than a year and it was half price at some point at Ulta. In the winter I am 2N1 and in the summer 3N1 or a combination of both. Mature combination skin living in the desert. I did travel with this foundation to South Carolina, New York and it performed excellent each time. It brought many compliments... I was puzzled to hear that you sensed a faint fragrance because I personally didn't smell any.
Eeeek!! I’m so happy you love this! My mom n I both picked this up last year and fell in love it!! Yes this can be for daily wear or special occasions! It blends beautifully into the skin and wears so well through the day! So happy to hear your review on it, how I missed this on your stories, I’ll never know😂But happy to hear your thoughts about it❤
I just bought this a couple of weeks ago and LITERALLY looked to see whether you had reviewed it (prior to purchasing!). I am 55yo oily but I love it!! It looks beautiful on your skin!
I love this foundation too! Your skin looks radiant. There is a primer product to use with this foundation. Have you tried it? I need a good setting powder. Any recommendations?
I do have this foundation and based on your review, I need to dust it off and give it another go. It is very similar to the L’Oréal age rewind foundation version that comes in the same type of tube.
I've used EL since I was 16 (38 now). I have used this since it came out (I think in 2019..). But recently I started using Loreal Age Perfect Serum foundation and I swear it is a DUPE! Even the packaging is similar. It does not have the weird cucumber smell either. The only drawback for it is that the color range is not that great. But try it against this one and tell us what you think!
Great, great, great, just what I need, another amazing foundation in my ever growing supply 🤣 everything that I have bought on your recommendation is amazing, good grief you are bad for my bank account 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 ut it just means I get to talk about you more in my own videos. Thank you😋😘💖😘💖😘💖😘💖😘💖😘💖
I have a love/hate relationship with this one. My skin is a bit dry and acne prone, and I find that sometimes it clings to areas and looks dry and flaky--even in areas where there were no visible flakes before application. 🤷♀️ I've seen this mentioned by other people with dry skin, too. I've tried it all sorts of different ways, with different tools, primers, etc. I can't figure out how to get it to work consistently. But I agree when it does look good, it looks GOOD.
hbarlaam, the key is skin care first. Apply meadowfoam oil or jojoba oil directly to your skin, especially after bathing. Let it soak in, for about 10 minutes then top with a hydrating moisturizer. Let it soak in, then use a hydrating primer, then apply the foundation. Also be sure you're using an appropriate chemical exfoliant at a frequency that works best for your skin.
I was using Estee Lauder for years, then switched to bareminerals since 2007. I may have to try this even though nothing will take the place of bareminerals for me. Thanks 😊
You sold me until I checked the ingredients 😭algae can be irritating /clogging to sensitive and acne-prone skin! Otherwise I’d love it. Double wear gave me a rash. The only one I can use is double wear sheer 🌚 but I appreciate you sharing your hidden gems! Helps me look into things I may have missed
It’s such a stunning foundation! I have mature skin and it sits beautifully on my skin, especially in the winter months when it’s cooler and my skin is a bit dryer. It looks fantastic on anyone I’ve applied it on. I do think the smell is annoying, but what high end brands like this (Chanel, EL, YSL etc) doesn’t these days?!
Hi Shelbey! I don’t use chemical sunscreens so I haven’t tried this. I would love to hear your reviews on mineral/physical sunscreens and foundations/tinted vase products that have mineral sunscreens!
U made me pick up that make up by Mario brush... I keep seeing people rave about it every time they use it and u used it to apply this foundation and I'm like wait I need to try it specifically since it's double sided and for tons of cream products I can't bring myself to try this foundation because of the sunscreen and I'm scared the chemical filters will make me break out but it looks stunning
How does this compare to the Bareminerals complexion rescue? This Estée Lauder foundation looks so good on you! I told myself I don’t need another foundation but what’s one more right? 😆
Hello!! I have questions :) what brush do you recommend for this and the sheer formula? im also 1c1 cool bone in this - would I be 1c1 cool bone in the sheer formula? and what powder would you use over this? sometimes I dont like the sticky feel
Funny, I tried this foundation when it came out and my impression was the exact opposite to yours: to me it felt too heavy and cakey and like too much work to make it work to look natural (and I don't feel like I am too heavy-handed with my foundation application, I am not one of the gals who like to put several pumps on right away). I know that similar to other fuller coverage foundations, everything can be made workable, but that's just too much effort for me, especially on a day-to-day and especially if there are easier options out there. I much more prefer foundations which are lighter and almost impossible to build up to a medium (as I am not interested in that kind of coverage, I prefer light, e.g. Chanel Watertint or anything from Chantecaille [I know, quite pricey, but worth it] or Shiseido Sychro Skin Skin Tint). I used to love the EL double wear nude though (which I think you hated? :) ), that used to be my holy grail a few years ago, though in the meantime I found much better foundations for me.
I got this when Ulta had it 1/2 off during one of their sales. Unfortunately, they don't carry this shade, which is the one I need. Cruel Ulta. It was good otherwise, but I'm concerned about the fragrance with my sensitive skin.
