My patrons over at / qualiaredux helped me hit a milestone, and I've owed them this video for a minute! I could have just sat in front of a camera and answered their questions, but you know what? I have kinda wanted to do a Let's Play of Pathologic 2. So I played the first hour, did all the voices, and answered questions during load screens.
Let me know if you want more! I'll figure something out if so. Also: if there's anything you wanna know (within reason) ask away in the comments!

I have a premise let’s say. Give us a memory you enjoy or a thing that makes you happy. I’ll give one in exchange: tea and cross-stitch at the midnight hour with a well worn video essay like a record with a well worn groove (Your stuff is on the list.). Also, I need to play Pathologic 2 but my city was in complete lockdown and this seems raw.

My husband and I went to Mad Max: Fury Road in a theater with an attached mall, and we turned off our phones during the film like the good little kiddos we are. When we stepped outside, as we turned on our phones, it was sprinkling so lightly we could barely feel it, and two miles away in the sky, but impossibly large-like a mountain, was this cloud. It was shaped like a lump of clay on a potter’s wheel and spinning like one, with ragged edges of gray cloud tearing off of it as it turned and pulled downward. The light was a sickly yellow green. And we stared for a full minute and a half, I think, as I found his hand, in a gathering crowd of people exiting the theater. And then our phones and a distant siren all shrieked out at once and the mall speakers begged us all to come inside. So, we did. But the mall was two stories, with a glass skylight and an open floor. So we had to part ways at the bathroom, untangled our fingers from one another, and we listened, squatting separately on the floors of our respective dirty bathrooms. The wind began to howl like a train passing by. All we could text one another was how marvelous the sky was and how truly lucky we were to feel so small together. We meant it.

@@QualiaRedux Simply exquisite. Thank you for the memory. I’m glad you got to feel that with your husband. Nature is awesome and terrible all at once and sometimes all we can do is sit in awe with our loved ones. I’m very glad you were both safe. I’ll keep your description as I stare out at my own storm-clay cloud; not sickly yellow green but pitch tar black. Rain lashes against my window as I type, and I shiver through the typhoon heat. It is also magnificent. Cheers.

As someone who is rediscovering TTRPG's have you ever written an RPG module or been tempted to?

I have thought about writing up the one-shot VTM V5 I did as a module but here is the thing: that kind of writing is legitimately hard, and I am not quite arrogant enough to think I have enough experience to make something other people would enjoy yet. Like, I think it is the sort of writing I would be great at (because I love systems and design and am fascinated about stories as designed objects). However, I think the process of writing in general is sort of adapting something very self-indulgent into something for other people. I wouldn't know how to do that in the TTRPG space. There are also norms for conduct I would have difficulty following (gamers are always telling one another their hobbies are valid in a way I feel is a given, but they get very hostile if you don't do that emotional work, especially if you are not a man). It is also frankly a space that tolerates open misogyny in a way that's harder. I know I am speaking as if a one-shot module would be an entire career, but I don't half ass stuff and I would want it to be wildly successful. And I am not sure wild success in the TTRPG space is something I would want. On the OTHER hand, I adore actual plays and have a big dumb dream of doing an actual play one shot of a game in the They Came From! series that somehow plays up the very Brechtian aspects of the game. I'd want to go all out with it. But again, my ambition far outstrips how good I am. This is one of those 5 year goals, I fear.

@@QualiaRedux Thank you very much for the well thought out reply. It's definitely appreciated :) I hope you manage to do a They Come From! one shot at some point
