What is fun about golf, is that you can spend a few hours with some friends. No phones, TV or nothing to disturb and you can just really talk together, have a laugh etc. the game itself is so slow and boring, you are right. But I love the social part. More viewer questions videos. But you should do that as a separate video, and not mix it with the vlog.
Hi Shelby! This isn’t related to your vlog, but I wanted to pass this on to you. You’ve mentioned that you have arch problems with your feet. I’m a former gymnast as well and I have the same problem Try Skechers arch for shoes. They have great arch support with memory foam and so comfortable! I’ve had mine a few weeks and love them!
As someone who works for someone else - i envy your life so much. I hope you can stay on your own as a success - it is so much more gratifying to do the work when it is for you, in lieu of for someone else
My dad plays all the time and for him it’s about socializing with his buds, having a beer, and making small 10 dollar bets to see who will make each hole. I promise most men aren’t just “chillin quietly” on the course 😂
That's an interesting point, about investing in stocks until you're ready to buy your primary home. I went ahead and bought a condo in California, even though it's not my "dream" home, because you do not get taxed on the capital gains when you sell, and also because the mortgage interest is entirely tax deductible. So for me, it's worth it to live in the condo for a few years and later trade up for a bigger home once I want to have a family. Also, I bought the condo in the Bay Area, so I assume that prices across the area will increase sort of uniformly, so if my dream home goes up in price, my condo's value will theoretically increase too so I'll still be able to buy the dream home. Stocks aren't guaranteed to appreciate in correlation with your local housing market. However I do agree with your points about wanting to invest in the Joshua Tree project so it's smart to not tie up all your money with mortgages. Anyway, I appreciate your vlogs and I like how you really think through all your decisions!
The job sounds like a fun opportunity to try something different but still within your wheelhouse, you won't have to worry about health insurance, and then you will have new content opportunities - going from YT to a 9-5, and vlogs too! Does the job let you work from home/anywhere? Maybe you can negotiate those aspects into your employment contract so you still have the freedoms you have now. Great vlog Shelby!
Pausing the vlog just to comment about those bears lol. They're a part of a carnival ride, like a spinning ride where there's a bench and table on inside.
Yes I want this new series! I will check in every day! 🎉🎉🎉 it’s crazy how there’s usually only 1 or 2 tasks nagging on my mind. Both combined may only take an hour or two but I will wait weeks before doing it because it’s too intimidating 😂
I agree with what you mean about no place being perfect. It also makes it hard to move because one thing might be better but at the cost of something else not being as good like it was before.
You're right about the dog. I got mine when I really didn't have extra money so I had time, but basically now it's hard to take trips and go out because I love her and walk her about 5 miles per day. This means about 3 hours of my day is making sure she's out and about. I do have a roommate that helps walk her for me when I need to go out, but yeah dogs are time consuming. Cats not so much and I have cats, but they're messy, for an animal that grooms themselves 5 hours a day they sure love to mess up my stuff, they're lucky they're cute.
I would feel bad for leaving my dog home when I'm out and about. This is why I volunteer walking dogs at the animal shelter. I get the fun parts of interacting with dogs and they're time bound to whenever I have free time. Plus, it's super easy to hit 10k steps that day.
Love the way you eat healthy food without thinking about it. I used to be like that many years ago. Sounds like you have already got yourself together.
Shelby, you inspired me when you asked for questions for the vlog today and so I asked in my Community and got loads and loads of questions. I wouldn't have done it without your inspiration! Thank you and I appreciate you vlogs so much!
So you I like the fact you talked/ introduced the 5 minute rule, but my problem is for the longest time I’ve I always wanted to start a RU-vid channel and I have no idea how to one. I would very much like how I could implement the 5 minute rule towards that and other things on how to start one!
I 100% agree with your points about NYC. Honestly ever since COVID i feel like it's lost most of its appeal and hegemony and im glad more people are realizing that there's a lot of other great cities/states to live in outside of NYC. ps im LOVING your CA and tennis content! you've inspired me to sign up for tennis lessons this summer and i'm nervous since i'm such a beginner but im also excited!
Hi Shelby I keep getting fake accounts that are not you trying to add me on TT. They have also taken your content even some of your early content. Take care.
Media writer Dan Gentile describes his escape from Coachella on SFGate. Two plus hours from Rancho Mirage to Palm Springs and a total of 7 hours to LAX.
I am born and raised in NYC I live uptown in Manhattan. I walk a lot and take the subway all the stories about getting punched or the subway violence while yes I’ve heard that too it’s not as much as the media wants you to think. I feel safe as does everyone else I know. The media has away of taking isolated incidents snd making you think it’s a daily occurrence. .
I’m going to New York for the first time soon, and I’m slightly nervous because of these stories, even though where I’m from I take transit all the time and I know how to stay safe. I keep reminding myself of how many women my age take it on a daily basis and are fine, so I will be ok!
Shelby, thanks for the 5 minute rule! It's a challenge sometime to decide when to start a task and complete it! Excellent idea that works. As far as taking on new employment; check the hours and the benefit package. They'll have medical, sick leave, stocks and bonds, pension, and vocation. Will the hours be 6 or 8 hours? It's worth investigating! 😊 There's Twenty-four hours in a day. Six to eight hours of working and you still have sixteen to 18 hours to do what you want! Deduct for traffic. 🛣 I don't know RU-vid's guidelines, but maybe you can do 2 to 3 days a week vlogs. Edit them down to 15 to 20 minutes. Your content is informative; not to do them anymore! (Remember last year when you and Sam attended the Taylor Swift concert? That footage was spectacular!) 🎉🎾🎉🎶
Also, Shelby, happy Sunday. To keep spiders and pests out of your car and home, purchase some peppermint spray or oil and spray it on the floor of your car. Those critters clim in through your doors or vents. It has a nice fragrance. A little spray will do you!😊 Right now, I'm cleaning out closets with the 5 minute rule! Oh yes, I am resting in between! Enjoy your day! 🌴🏖🌴😄
If I were you, I’d take the full time job and start posting these vlogs on your main channel with more subs and stop this channel. I feel like your main channel videos haven’t been doing great for a while now and take a lot of time to make. You could def have a full time job and vlog, so idk that’s what I would do.
For the job, I feel like they want someone to be in the role long-term. If you can't see yourself doing it for more than 2 years, then it's probably not worth doing it as a full-time status. Maybe getting a 6-month contract for UGC content creation for them would be a better use of their and your own time. Or doing a 1-year contract to hire, so you both can get a good feel for what you want. Then you can still reap the monetary benefits while maintaining your independence. If you are looking for a full-time role to gain a new skill set, get healthcare, or simply have structure then the 9-5 might be better for you. Obviously, we don't know the terms of the job. But it seems like a 9-5 would lock down your time tremendously, and also PTO would most likely be constrictive. Also not sure how non-compete and or if they would have opinions on you doing your own brand deals. I would say it took me 1 year to be fully comfortable in my corporate role, and now 5 years in I have a lot more freedom then I did when I 1st started.
A thought about wanting a dog, but not wanting a long-term commitment: Fostering is a GREAT option for you! Most shelters and rescues offer fostering. If you foster through a shelter, it gets the dog out of the stressful shelter environment and makes more space for other incoming animals. Most foster programs cover everything for the dog, even down to the food. It's also a short-term commitment until the pup gets adopted. So it's short-term and little to no cost to you! Win-win all around!
That’s a great start! By doing that consistently, you may feel the natural urge to raise the bar and pick a task that may be 6 mins or 7! Great job friend 🎉
OMG. Coachella traffic. I went there a couple years ago to see what it was like. I thought getting out of the parking lot was bad. Monday traffic was just as bad. I don't think I'll ever go again. 03:19 - On all my road travels, so far, I have seen dragons (not sure what cartoon, if any, they are from), Sonic the Hedgehog & friends, and the Oscar Meyer Wienermobile. 😁 That 5 minute rule sounds interesting. I'll think about it...(for 5 minutes 🤣)
You've been enjoying near total scheduling freedom for over a decade now and I think taking on a regular 9-to-5 will be quite a challenge and will take a long time to adjust to. If you want to keep on doing RU-vid too it will be even more challenging; you only have to look at Monica to see how that worked out. That being said, it could be a very valuable experience and you can finally silence the haters who say you've never worked in a 'real' job 👍
It's sad seeing 2 girls get along so great on video and then realizing later that their friendship has ended. I remember watching Monica's video about living with sorority girls and thinking she had such a great friendship with one of them and then realizing they no longer were friends when I noticed they weren't following each other on IG.
I’ve been in hundreds of kitchens and have never seen a full length mirror in one. You are unique. Is Judge Cannon managing your Joshua Tree project, that is really slow rolling?
Shelby, don't put down your sister's favorite activity to her face. Everyone knows that tennis is more fun and burns more calories but your sister seems to love it.
