EXHAUSTED! Baseless claims, bs claims. Go to your town hall meeting if you really care about repping your city. They don’t, they care about being put on.
A man aint required to do nothing but take care of the children he makes and his woman. Anything he does for anyone else is out the kindness of his heart not an obligation.
He’s just basically saying Wale don’t come from the same struggle as a lot of us original Washingtonians come up in, therefore, he can’t be a representative of that. He can’t articulate that from his personal experience for us. A lot of us come up in DC in the 80s & 90s when a lot of these celebrities that claim DC was scared to step foot in the city back then.
Wale tried to put DC on the map. He came in the door utilizing Go-Go Bands on Award shows, putting go-go songs and beats on his mix tapes and albums, shouting out DC people in his songs, going to Redskins Games, Rocking Nike Boots etc! So-what he didn't grow up in the city. He grew up right across the borderline in MOCO. He def came up through the DC/DMV Music Circuit. This is the thanks he gets?????????? Hate is the new love...
I’m from southeast born and raised and I fuck wit wale to da fullest,he’s intelligent and has substance to his music not taking about killing and disrespecting people
@@danladiharmon 1. I know u dont listen to wale cause my boy U missed a whole decade. 2. None of these niggas give him credit more so down play but want him to help niggas. 3. The nigga Ant Glizzy is a prime example of talkin shit about em then asking to help out the younger niggas in the city.
He’s basically saying because Wale not a street rapper he’s not DC…. None of these dudes gonna make it with that attitude lol.. Wale made it big because he was original and can actually rap about various topics… street rappers gotta learn to evolve shit sad
And anybody who made it from the area like Brent Faiyaz, Cordae, Rico Nasty were all unique compared to these street fools and they music was more universal.
Fact: finding out wale was from dc led to me searching dc hiphop finding out about dmv go-go, fat trel, head roc etc. he’s basically pissed off wale did’nt lie in his raps or hand out turkeys in the doc 🙄
Wale is not from d.c ... Wale went to all maryland schools, and his father was an African D.C cab driver...Now if you asked does he represent the DMV sure he does..However to flat out say he's from D.C nawww but if that makes you from here than be my guess
@@pierregreer5281 well if he's from the DMV he was going to be from one of those places. It really ain't that serious. Y'all niggas is just crabs in a barrel as usual.
@@jayd4918 i thought when he said he was from there he was from there. I thought since he was born there and lived there until he was ten meant he was from there. When in 2009 he won dc breakout artist of the year i thought he was from there. He is from Maryland as well i don’t disagree but to separate wale from dc, mainly because ant glizzy doesn’t think he talked about killing his own ppl in his raps is beyond insulting. To elaborate my original comment even more is to say, even if wale wasn’t from dc.. i still searched up dc artist and music BECAUSE of wale, which ironically is probably the reason im watching this video in the first place. I think ant glizzy should focus on making music more than two ppl outside the doc want to hear more than once. Actually hes good 🤔 but not wale good.
Wale always been a mixed figure in the DMV. He was more on some poetic, conscious hip hop, never claimed to be a thug, his early hits was always trying embrace the DMV, and bring shit together. Wale made a lane for DC/MD artist to see that we could actually make it on a bigger platform, but he wasn’t on some hardcore DC shit. I could see why real DC niggas don’t give af about him. DC is grimy af, and to have a voice other than Wale could’ve gave real DC a wider reach like the ATL’s, Memphis, Detroit, NY’s etc. When I was coming up, it was just unheard of for DC artist to be anywhere near mainstream. All we had was Wale, Tabi Bonney, Raheem Devaughn, and a small select few of local artist that never blew. I thought Fat Trel was gonna break through, cause he was the first street nigga that got some real buzz, was getting love in the city, was putting out good music, but even he got caught up, and slowed his career down. All we fucking get is the Logic’s and Wale’s. I get what Ant talking about, Wale ain’t the mascot of DC rap, but he opened a lane that nobody thought was there. You can still want real DC to get represented without bashing Wale for kinda being stuck in this role as the face. Somebody else gotta step up, and start something new.
I remember when I moved to D.C from Chicago it was dope they had they own clothes like We r one , Hobo, DDTP ,Shooters and more and the whole city wore that shit they wasn’t in to all that other designers shit they stood on they own with music (go-go)now idk what’s goin on with the younger generation.
Glad u recognized the culture. Its the new generation born in the 2000s out here assimilated to everything they see on social media. 80s babies watched the old generation turn into the new generation.
All we have in the black community is rappers and athletes... That's all we think we can become. This man talking about "real rappers" who have names like "...Murder Glixzy", "Mo Savage" 💀💀💀💀... I'm sick of these street guys thinking they speak for the community. YOU DON'T. Nothing wrong with paying taxes and living HONORABLE. We need to ban ALL these typa people in our community bro!
Unfortunately, our younger community don't value education or having a well-paying, respected career..the rap thing is beyond over hyped and played out at this point.
😂 the funniest thing about this, is even if you were literally born in DC, move out to Maryland, but came back to DC to shop or whatever, tags say "Maryland", DC dudes would still call you a "Maryland Bamma"😂😂.
MF's be weird cuzz. and be right in Maryland Eating in restaurants, shopping in the mall, buying cars, loving them PG females😅I'm from SE and majority of the shit that comes through DC come through Maryland first
It’s the weirdest obsession. I thought people claimed where they’re born. Wale was born and lived in DC up until he was 10, then moved to Maryland…which is literally 30 mins away from DC. Is he suppose to say he’s not from DC anymore because he didn’t go to high school there and no one knows him from high school. These people are brainless
Exactly. And Wale is a good dude. Plus Wale was born in DC and basically grew up in a suburb of DC. They acting like he from 5 hours away. It should be love on the DMV.
They said wale from Montgomery County which is literally walking distance depending on where at from dc...wale seem like a good black yoruba brother...Idk his business practices behind closed doors though
Wale not from DC, that’s just what it is. Why y’all mad? I like Wale, but he not from the city. DC is northwest, northeast, southwest, and southeast. Those four quadrants. If you’re not from either of those, you’re not from DC.
As a person from DC I understand both sides of what Ant is talking about, to an extent I strongly do believe that a city like DC is supposed to be represented in the rawest, unfiltered, most unapologetic way possible cause at the end of the day if you are from DC or ever been here you know how we are. At the same time doe, how far can you really go if you don’t see or think beyond where you’re from? What would make a person who is not from DC want to come out here besides the monuments and the White House? DC needs a person that represents both sides of the spectrum: a person that understands and taps into the “real” DC but at the same time knows how to think beyond the streets and is cultured in other aspects of life
So it’s Wale fault that ain’t nobody else from DC talented enough to make it out? If you got talent, it don’t matter where u from. DC just wack, cities like Atlanta got huge artists cuz da city got its own swag. He hating on Wale instead of giving us a hit !
@@davidturnerjr.6477 now the city got its own sauce that atl and other cities “borrowed” from so it ain’t that…but tbh it’s not big enough to get past personal and political alliances…it’s more to it than street shit too…like real talent in all forms
Some places ppl go to have a better life, become successful, find an opportunity. D.C. is not one of them places! Atlanta is very much one of them places! Why you think so many artists and entertainers move here?? If DC so hot & raw why most ppl graduate and look to leave?? DC wack. It’s ok lol. Dude named a whole bunch of rappers nobody ever heard of! But i can name a long list of Atlanta rappers. Yea it’s levels bruh…
As a washingtonian, I would say dc younger generations lost the culture, how they dress, talk, rap, etc reflects other cities 100%. It's jy sad, we were always known for our originality.
@@mikeharris600kpl what city still has their culture from the 90s? Every city has the same slang now all dress the same everything is copied from the internet
This is why DC has historically had a ceiling on its hip hop growth and success ...the D.. the M and the V are too small to sustain without the support of each other... its hard to call someone a "Maryland bamma" and then expect them to support you with their dollars
FUCKING PREACH, the problem with the DMV shit is everyone hate instead of show love. The promoters, venues and supporters don’t see the potential how DMV really could be the best place out here.
actually he was saying "they go to work" as if they never received much help because they still gotta work everyday to provide for they self.which proves nothing. you can help a person with out them quiting there job🤷
I hate that we have let this false narrative grow and carry on for so long. Wale do a lot for the DC people not just the street rappers but the actual city and community. Ant Glizzy ain’t doing shit but talking about everything else business on the internet. All the street rappers did everything to try and push Wale away and say he won’t from the city but now they want him to do everything for him. Foh. This prime example why DC music scene will never be any bigger than what it is. He’s a clown 🤡
@@47hundo86 reread what I said bozo. I said he help everyone not just street rappers. That’s doesn’t mean I’m saying he didn’t help any at all. My statement means he’s helped some of everybody. He’s also helped street rappers. Get off ant dick, he just mad WALE ain’t never helped him. Clown
Ant really be putting his money where his mouth is bruh... Much more than any rapper that ever came outta the city including the very rapper you're speaking of...
Sick of other black men worried and hating on other black men bruh no one cares about you opinion this isn't new people from rappers states always try to downplay the artist that made it out period
Salute the Real DC tho RIP da Men & Free them Soldiers 💪🏾💪🏾 This ain’t no Wale type of town.. Holmes ain’t lying tho bring the real DC sound back this ain’t no atl Chicago nothin we Real Live

Yall also have alot of educted black folks as well. It's a shame most of them move from the city because y'all so LIVE??
Seems like if a rapper tells the younger youth go get a job and start a family and stay out the streets it’s a bad thing. But if a rapper gives guns to younger youth to go defend a territory they don’t even own it’s a more honorable thing
@@chriswil5919 exactly DC and Gaithersburg MD where wale is from are like 2 different worlds. Moco is the richest county in Maryland but he wanna claim DC🤣🤣
Out of towners don’t understand that DMV is literally 3 different legal jurisdictions DC MD and VA. Wale isn’t from DC. Maybe born there but he from out MD. And when I say out MD not Silver Spring or Wheaton I mean WAAYYYY out Gaithersburg more than a hour from DC

As a person who grew up in the DC area, I knew a lot of people who grew up and who’s family interchanged between different areas in the DC Metro area (DC, PG, Moco, Northern VA) due to constant different changes in living costs, gentrification, and the area being so small and being easily accessible. And because all areas in the metro area are so close to each other and easily accessible to as compared to other metro areas, I never liked how territorial the DC area is. It’s def what is holding the area back. We all had similarities in every part of the region like the slang, clothing, mambo sauce, Gogo, and etc. I feel like it’s even a curse to rep DC period even if you’re really from there or not. Lol. It’s like a dark cloud hovers over you the moment you do it. It’s as if DC will rock with somebody harder if they claimed MD more even if they have DC ties for instance Kevin Durant, Dave Chapelle, Steve Francis, etc. Whatever a high profile person does that, DC and DMV folks will find something. Lol

I’m from DMV living in Dallas. The biggest difference is they have discretionary income to spend money to support local artist. DC is too damn expensive to be supporting rappers
Sometimes it’s not about talent how haven’t I heard a wale song in 5 years. Too many good songs in the dmv by other rappers for him to be one of the best
One thing I can agree with is dat DC is really original outside of da music. Outside of music we swag, culture, creative lingos n all dat shit like other major cities. I agree with him da music is not original n dey wanna give Wale da face of DC when he a nigga dats not from here

“They all go to work” 🤔 a rapper/musician is a job too, so he supposed to take care of other adults because he picked music as a profession 😂 a musicians hustle is harder than any 9-5, it’s not guaranteed, there’s no insurance & most the time your paying out your own pocket for hotels, planes, DJ,managers, etc……not to mention most artists are always in the red because their label is still recouping from the loan they gave the artist to sign, the only people that man obligated to is his family….some people be worried about everything else except themselves and how they gonna put food on their own table SMH 🤦🏾♂️
