For those who don't know they used to call him baby Barkley because coming from college he was as solid as this guy. But unfortunately he did not have much success in the NBA. So much for scoring... i have yet to see highlights of this guy hitting hard shots, passing, rebounding and defending. Im not sold on him.
solid pick...he is canadian, athletic, and can do it all...two inches in height won't make a difference..if barkley could dominate at that position so can this guy...He is far better than Chris Bosh or David West and they are pretty good #4's.
interesting pick for sure, but taking the risk of a tweener at #1 is remarkable. why not go with oladipo, have waiters run for 6th man and fill the SF spot with a quality free agent? or draft len/noel, and then trade varejao for a proper SF. noel is certainly not more injury-prone than varejao. bennett does make sense if he's able to play the three, but he simply doesn't play like one. he'll get ridiculed on defense there. undersized energy pf to me. only works if your name's charles barkley.
the only two players i can recall to play the 4 successfully while being undersized were barkley and johnson. the odds are somewhat against him, but it's not impossible. you seem to have missed that waiters came off the bench for 13 games, mostly towards the end of the season as m brown saw him more suitable off the bench. the guys he backed up were worse than oladipo. so what's so funny? bennett will have problems defending and outrebounding bigger pf's. why choose these problems w/ a #1pick?
