Celebrity chef and host Anthony Bourdain's return trip to Manila wouldn't be complete without a visit at a Jollibee store. Video courtesy of Anthony Bourdain, Parts Unknown, CNN
@@newtype5005 it's not smart shaming if his response isn't "smart" in the first place. It's about how we communicate and understand the message, he's the one shaming her grammar. And what's funny is nagtagalog pa siya, di niya nga alam nationality ng tao, kung nakakaintindi ng tagalog o hindi. Keep your "peenoise" term for yourself.
He was my spirit animal. Other chefs can replicate the shows but never duplicate what AB did. He will be greatly missed. The world lost incredible human being.
@@IambiguousSegment this video was ok but watch a full show of his he gets drunk complains and eats food with some interesting people. His two big shows were parts unknown/ no reservations
RIP to a legend.. me and my brother (who is incarcerated) would watch this all the time. He wants to be a chef when he comes home. Keep them fed in heaven. Love from Carolina.
A well renowned chef but still can appreciate with no issues, dish prepared in a fast food chain... Such a humble guy.. May his soul rest in peace. If only we Filipino can be as down to earth as him. Meron akong kwento ng isang Filipino na pumasok sa isang sikat na hotel carrying a pail with lots of crab inside.. foreigners saw him and said " You should have put a lid on your pail of crabs because it will climb out". THE Filipino replied," not to worry my friend i'm sure they won't be able to climb out of that pail". The foreigner asked "Why? How come your so sure that they won't be able to climb out"? The Filipino guy simply answered," BECAUSE THESE ARE FILIPINO CRABS".
Have to disagree. Compared to western civilizations and other 3rd world countries, Philippines is up there with down to earth people. Hate to say it, but your analogy pertains more to poor blacks in America. Trust me I’m more than familiar with the crab analogy. Every time I go to the Philippines, it’s actually the Chinese who live there that act high and mighty and look down on others.
@@kayoko1954 I won't say that I'm an expert on Filipinos, but I have come to the conclusion that no matter how nice I am to them, they generally act snobby to me. I have only known a few though, but enough for me to notice a distinct pattern. So, in my experience, I would not call them 'down to Earth'.
Noticed a pattern, for every filipino saying ‘Proud Pinoy’ there are more than double the amount of filipinos such as you who are willingly putting yourself and other filipinos down while of course praising foreigners such as myself. Why is that? I don’t mean to make this about race but I am getting some kind of humiliation fetish vibes, idk
RIP Anthony. This is one of my favorite episodes, how he captured the sacrifice and determination of the Philippine people around the world. Many westerners dont understand this about asian culture, everything is for the family.
Filipinos are the most racist people I've ever met on this planet. I have an aunt from there and her entire family is super racist towards people of color even toward other Filipinos despite being always together with other Filipinos it's mostly family.
Really?? Idk about you guys but here in palawan, all of them greets everyone the same way. Same tone, same smile, same amount of respect. And all of the branches here does that.
@@joeblow2069 Maybe he didn't? 3 months before he crossed the Clintons. In an interview, Bourdain described Bill as “a piece of shit. Entitled, rapey, gropey, grabby, disgusting, and the way that he-and she-destroyed these women and the way that everyone went along, and, and are blind to this! Screamingly apparent hypocrisy and venality.”
He can't read your comment , he hung himself . He was probably sad that his wife banged Harvey Weinstein and was super depressed about her cheating on him with that Italian stud.
Ktownie city I’m part chinese and I promise I’m nice (most of the time). I’m only mean when I come across bigotry and racism. Also in Hawaii where I’m from we have many Chinese food establishments that have great vibes and friendly people. Hmmm maybe they are actually Filipino or Vietnamese but they got lied to at the hospital. What do you think?
I miss You Sir Anthony. I am an avid fan of your documentary, always on a look out for "somenthing new to eat" and mark that as one of my bucket lists. You are that unafraid, raw and appreciative. A man who pays tribute to every food he has to eat and respect the diversity that comes along with it. May your soul finds peace eternally. You are so loved and missed..
I loved his show where he traveled to different countries and immersed himself in the culture, their food, and ways of living. Depression is a sinister disease.
Agreed. The media should take mental health - along with alcohol and drug addiction as well as smoking - seriously instead of using it as comedy fodder to mock celebs (like Britney and Amanda Bynes). I mean, you listening, Les Moonves, Matt Lauer, Rob Hamilton, Jay Leno, Bryant Gumbel, Harvey Levin, Sean McManus, Ted Turner, Bonnie Hammer, David Letterman, Vince McMahon, Vince Russo, John O'Hurley, Joel McHale, Dan Abrams, Jeff Zucker, Piers Morgan, Mortimer Zuckerman, Jimmy Kimmel, Lorne Michaels, Ryan Murphy, Fax Bahr, Adam Small, Bob Iger, George Bodenheimer, Ed Goren, Dixie Carter, Shane Douglas, Tony Pettiti, Rupert Murdoch, Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, Nigel Lythgoe, Jian Ghomeshi, Kelly Clarkson, Jerry Penacoli, Dr. Drew, Dr. Oz, Dr. Phil, A.J. Calloway, A.J. Hammer, Kevin Dunn (the WWE producer), etc.? #MentalHealthAwareness
Damn. I miss this guy. He straight up just got drunked on most of his episodes lol but you know he never sugar coated anything that he says about food. How i wish we could have let him know how he brings joy to so many people
I loved going to Jollibee back when I used to live in the Philippines as a kid and ordering either the sweet spaghetti, salisbury steak, or just the iconic fried chicken. Now I'm living in Texas. The closest Jollibee is a few miles away and usually is filled with other Filipinos making it hard to sometimes order from, but everytime I do get something it's always delicious Rest in peace Anthony
They're the morning shift ppl. They act like that in urban places like BGC, Makati, or beeg Malls. The pandemic wiped most of those smiles cuz you know... masks and fear of contamination.
World renowned chef enjoys simple folk fast food. Shows how open he is to any food. Vs RU-vid chefs today act like fast food is vile and they’re above it.
And now there's one in Manhattan... Wish you were here for all this change Mr Bourdain... how food and dining out has changed in the last few years. You're needed now more than ever... Miss you man
I honestly didn’t know bout Anthony bourdain till his tv show no reservations & instantly loved it. Then later in life was incarcerated & was lucky enough to stumble upon his book “kitchen confidential” must say he was a life treasure rip Michael 😢
I was able to try Jollibee for the first time, I ordered a ton of stuff and it was all I ate that day. The “ah… I hate myself” reminded me of going there, but it was amazing, so good
RIP, Brother Bourdain! So many people were shocked and devastated by you going home WAAAY too early. We will always miss you and love you! Some small-time eateries exploded in popularity due to your exposure and will cherish you always!
I feel so sad watching this now. If we had known you're sad I would have hugged you so tight and tell you how much you're not alone and how many people loves you that you don't even know or haven't met yet.
I miss him. A lot. Whenever I heard anyone talking about him I would butt in and say something like, “Oh man, Bourdain is awesome! You should read his books!” Now, just thinking about him hurts. Just shows that you never know how much you mean to people.
Yeah Right calm down you irritated bastard, during the run of No Reservations (another one of sir Anthony Bourdain's show during the late 2000's-early 2010's) there are Filipino fans of the show back then and on one of the episodes he visited the Philippines in a few key areas such as in Manila (Binondo and Quezon City), Angeles City Pampanga, and Cebu.
Watching this makes me miss my childhood in the Philippines and Anthony Bourdain. His shows "No Reservations" and....shoot! Forgot the name of the other one. But those were my favorite shows. ♥️
love this video and I am a fan of Anthony Bourdain .. I hope Gordon Ramsay should try Filipino food or Jollibee too, wondering how he reacts and what words he will gonna use..haha
I remember the off handed comments he'll make out of random. It was just his perspective. His humor, they way he visions the basics outside the normal. "Off the beaten path", he's the reason if I go somewhere. I don't just the do the basics. I venture out, get a taste of what it's like being somewhere unfamiliar. All at the same time, feeling at home. That was him. He had his struggles, but. No lie, he's the reason I got into traveling. He will most certainly be missed. Thank you sir, for these great experiences. Venture out folks!!
Exactly how I feel. I have been avoiding the last season or so of Parts Unknown. I just can’t bring myself to watch them. The influence of this man. Sigh. :(
