Anthony Burns from Saginaw, MI - check out his performance from our 28th Annual Drum-Off Finals that took place on January 14, 2017 at The Novo in Los Angeles. Anthony played on a 5-piece Yamaha Recording Custom kit in Surf Green with Remo Pinstripes on the toms, and their Powerstorke 3 Clear on the kick, (used his own snare) along with the Zildjian K Custom Dark cymbals: 14" hats, 16" crash, 18" crash, 20" ride, 10" splash, and an 18" Oriental china trash. Blast block, cowbell, and tambourine are from Latin Percussion.

Blinding foot speed.Love seeing a great solo with no double pedal in sight.

It’s harsh. This dude lost in a tight contest to Isaias Gil in 2010, and then lost this one to the dude who copied Isaias Gil.

This was by far the best solo. He gave a master performance, way better than the 'winner.' Were the judges even drummers? I don't get it. One is a 5 of 10 difficulty and simply ripped off the same tired stick tricks from past winners and the other is like a 9/10, creative, and clean. Hello?! Wonder if there was some other motive behind choosing the 'winner'.

I am not easily convinced, being a long time drummer myself, but here is real talent, very good use of the drums to make music, not only to show sportsmanship. Bravissimo !!!

Anthony Burns in my opinion should have won this thing years ago......I don't know or even understand what the judges see in the other drummers that we don't see but it must be significant.

After watching videos like this one, I believe more and more in the idea of musical evolution;Musicians, particularly drummers of each successive generation are more technically advanced than the preceding. You won’t find older drummers with chops like this.
