In the Telegraph, Luke Edwards said Liverpool made enquiries about Gordon but were talking about really low sums of money, which Newcastle completely rejected, so no formal offer was made. He didn't say that we contacted them or that we offered him to them. Also, you said, 'we have loads of deadwood players to sell'. Theyve been trying to sell some of them, like Fraser, Hendrick, Hayden, etc for ages. Its mostly been the case that either nobody wants them, or theyve refused to go (presumably cos theyre on better wages here). Also, the club tried to sell Almiron months ago, but he didnt want to leave. They considered selling Wilson and Trippier too, but decided not to because we were suffering a huge injury crisis at the time. We couldnt sell Minteh in January because he was on loan. We had lots of players injured leading into January, which obviously seriously affected who we could sell, because half the team was injured, and we couldnt have sold the rest because the injuries meant we needed them to becavailable to play.

Hopefully, 🤞 , this has and is only a smokescreen. We need this lad looking forward

They need to show AG a lot of love. He is integral to what we want to build. The fans love him and importantly, he delivers on the pitch. He gives his all every match. Heard rumours, oddly I think from the Telegraph that a new contract for him is in process. Let’s hope so. The lure and desire to play for the club you have supported all your life is a strong one. It’s up to Newcastle to show him that what he can achieve here by getting us a cup or the league in the next few years will make him a legend way beyond anything he would achieve at Liverpool.

It looks to me that they were expecting Bruno to be sold, when he was not sold there was a deficiency, no interest in the players they want to offload, so they had no choice but we can’t complain to much as they are, on the whole, doing a great job. HWTL

People think that the points deduction would be the end of it but the short fall would have just been moved to this years FFP. It’s not an either or. I'd rather Guimares was sold than Gordon. He is more of an influence on the team, younger and has a lot of development potential. Liverpool wont spend big on Gordon. He would be a great signing but Liverpool have a strong forward area already. He is more important to NUFC than he would be to the Liverpool squad.

Wouldn’t be surprised if it did turn. It’s his home city and one of the biggest teams in England with CL football season on season. I imagine it would do the same if Madrid came too. We can’t be too delusional at this point

The club said months ago every player has a price and is for sale so everyone knew this could happen . Gordons head got turn when we enquired and he refused to train and forced a move so can we now expect the same treatment, The club has brought this upon themselves.

The way the club has gone about this PSR situation is terrible. We should never never be talking to any club about selling our best players full stop. We should be saying to potential clubs not for sale end of. I thought the days of selling our best players had gone. Hope Gordon has been told how much he is wanted and tie him down with a new contract. I hope this never happens again so unprofessional way of going on. Also what about the players that should be sold ?

If this turns out to be true, and Gordon leaves during the project I feel it speaks volumes to who he is as a person. But if there is one player that I think has the mental capacity to handle the bulls**t rumours, and not be unsettled it's going to be Gordon. He's young, but his head is screwed on harder than any other player at that club. He wants to be successful yes, he has high ambitions yes, but so do the club and I think they're both on the same wavelength.

IMO, the club must have informed Gordon that if the PSR deadline wasn’t met he may be the one who goes..? I think he’s professional enough acknowledge the club were in a fix, now it’s dealt with I think everything will go back to normal?

I think Pope's influence can be underestimated and I think hes getting a bit of a raw deal from a section of the Newcastle fans. Everyone is talking about the Austria keeper's save last night being an absolute worldie.. Pope pulled off about three of those against PSG alone! One of the greatest goalkeeping displays I've ever seen! Plus the fact we are likely to get rid of Wilson, Trips and Almiron, our more senior players are thinning out and that influence is needed. I do agree that he needs an equal/ eventual replacement and we should be breaking the bank to get Marmadashvili, but we gotta give more love to Pope.
