Anthony's response to Opie's nonsense 

It's almost like Opie and Anthony are doing a weekly show together at this point.

Every time I start to feel bad for Opie, I listen to an O&A clip and remember why I shouldn't

When Opie pretended that having comedians on the show ruined everything I knew he was completely insane. He lined his pockets by having comedians on.

Cumia, DiPaolo, and Patrice talking about race is better than anything else in the history of radio. In my opinion.

Opie wants people to live vicariously through Opie. The problem is that not even Opie wants to live vicariously through Opie.

I have lived in NYC and there's a lot of people like Opie. Physically they're harmless, just middle aged weak people. But they have a lot of mental issues. I mean they will follow you 5 blocks just because they think you gave them a look. They will tell their cab driver to stop the car because he momentarily glanced at them in the rear view mirror. They will send their food back because their regular food delivery guy didn't show up. Things like that. Harmless but very annoying if you're at the receiving end of it

It's weird. When you look at a picture of Opie now and Anthony now you would think Opie is the alcoholic.

The indignity of Greg whistling past the graveyard of his dead career and uploading it to tiktok is about as close to the epitome of a midlife crisis as you can get.

Any rant cumia went on was gold. Jimmy would try to get Anthony on rants all the time. Anthony and Jimmy was the only reason I listened.

What Ant brought to the show: Humor, good commentary on events, the occasional racist rant. What Opi brought: "Hold on guys, we got a call coming in."

This whole thing just shows how fucked up this country has gotten. Anthony gets assaulted in Time Square, he feels threatened by 3 or 4 other animals, so he walks away, goes home and Tweets about it. But the only thing anyone remembers is Anthony's " racist rant"?

Opie would literally be a beloved legend right now if he accepted the role of the straight man. Instead he allowed his narcissism and ego to ruin everything. He had a GOLDEN opportunity and wasted it. He could of been the "Ernie Johnson" of radio. Ernie works alongside legends such as Charles Barkley and Shaq and is JUST AS loved as them. Because he directed the show so well, knew when to talk, knew when not to, knew when to joke, knew when to let someone riff, and knew when to lob up softballs for his cohosts and guests. Ernie Johnson is now in the Sports Broadcasting Hall Of Fame and is probably the most popular well-liked sports broadcaster in America. He is considered just as essential as Charles, Shaq, and Kenny on the show. This literally could have been Opie for O&A and radio.

I wonder if Ant has back problems after carrying Opie for 20 years.

My favorite parts of the Jim and Sam show are when Bob Kelly, Vos, Quin, and Jimmy are going back n forth(or any combo) because Sam sits quietly, for most of the time, while the professionals make everyone laugh. On another note whoever came up with the ‘Nopie’ compilation. Praise to him. They make work fly by listening to those.

I remember plenty of times when Patrice and Anthony would go back and forth about race, they would mostly come to some kind of consensus on the topic. It was always hilarious when those two would debate.

Anthony and Jimmy became the funnier duo and Opie was jealous

Opie is a corporate DJ, he needs a booker, ad department etc. He was never the creative talent. His mistake was believing he was the creative side. If he had understood this he would be like Norton on radio. The lesson kids is to understand what you are and accept it

From my perspective, and I have heard Anthony acknowledge this, Opie was upset that “his vision”, “his show” started become more about Anthony/Jimmy/guests in studio and Opie became more or less the board operator making sure the show ran within the confines of timing and structure of how radio works. So, Opie couldn’t “get in” on the joke or pile on because he needed to be, some what, responsible. And Opie started to hate that and he just got angry about that. And when Anthony was fired Opie tried to be “the cool guy” again and that is exactly what got Opie fired.

Patrice Oneal death was one of a many down falls of O and A the amount of content and fun and comedian humor he brought to the show was perfection...

When listening to O&A in the late 90's through mid 2000's I never thought this would be how Opie and Anthony would be ending their careers. It's kind of sad that these 2 aren't even cordial to one another after all those years, but with the way Opie acts its impossible. I truly hope someone does a documentary on O&A the same way ESPN did one for Mike and The Mad Dog. NY talk radio those years was so damn good.

Fun fact: This video was posted today and has more views than every one of Opie's shows for the past month combined.

I would be pissed too if my on air and business partner insisted on taking a 1 year contract over a 5 year contract in the latter stages of their show.

I love watching this over and over. This time, an ad about autism interrupted it, and that made it even more enjoyable.

I've never understood why Opie's inlaws needed to listen to a radio show that was never meant to appeal to them in the first place.

You can tell Ant is a genuine nice guy. Even tho he's putting Opie in his place, he is giving him genuine advice.

The nonsense that Opie babbles on about is one thing but the way he speaks and pronounces words is so aggravating that he's impossible to listen to. It's beyond obnoxious.

One thing ill always love about Ant is he isnt scared to voice his opinion on ANYTHING. People who get offended in a conversation are fking annoying because you feel like youre walking on eggshells all the time.

Jim Norton stays with Sam because he knows that Sam would never dream of doing anything to rock the boat or cause trouble. After all Jim has dealt with in the past 20 years, especially when it comes to wondering if he can still pay his mortgage, I don't blame him at all for sticking with the secure, easy gig. Like Sam or hate him, the guy is rock steady when it comes to his job. Plus Sam probably signs contracts for 3 years or more instead of 1, like Opie did. Every year, after waiting until the literal last minute to sign.

opie wanted to be stern more than anything in the world but it was a lot harder than it looked.

4:35 I always got those vibes whenever he talked about music and movies. He never actually seemed interested in either, but wanted to appear like he was in the know and usually claimed that his favorites were just whatever was most popular at the time. I don't think he once ever talked about a current movie without mentioning the Rotten Tomatoes score (usually to back up his opinion). But then when it came to all the times Ant & Jimmy went on a classic movie quote spree, Opie would always sit there in silence. Because he had no personal passion for movies, just wanted to go with the current popular flow. Same with music. He actually claimed that Coldplay was awesome. The only other time he mentioned music was as a status symbol of what a knowledgeable radio guy he was. It was most obvious during the jazz and blues bits, where he would try to claim some kind of authority, simply for knowing who Miles Davis and Stevie Ray Vaughan were (the two most widely known names in the genres), That's like bragging that you're an encyclopedia of ragtime for having heard of Scott Joplin. It's one of those personality traits of a true sociopath. Lacking in personal emotion you can relate to others with, they just fake it as best they can to blend in, and the need to command attention and status in the room is the one emotion they do feel.

I think what I find MOST HILARIOUS is that Anthony was a high school grad and "Opie" always made it a point to tell everyone he was a (loser) college grad YET Anthony was and is FAR more articulate and knowledgeable than "Opie" ever could be!!!

The thing that unites both Stuttering John and Opie is that they always aren't honest. They lie all the time. I've never once doubted Anthony's take and assessments. He's always been a straight forward guy and it's appreciated. No one ever doubts Anthony when he tells a story.

I truly miss old O & A, imagine if Opie could've been humble and laughed at himself like Anthony & Jimmy could do. Ant & Jimmy remain legends and Opie is the poor looking washed up "Radio Guy"

I listened to O&A religiously everyday since the late 90’s and no way did Patrice think Ant was a racist. Bigotry and calling out the truth of a certain demographic’s culture is not the same as racism. Most of my favorite bits are when Ant would go on rants about black culture.

I started to listening to o & a when I was teenager (and, shock, I'm a lady). 20 years later and I can still safely say that Ant's rants were always the best parts. I still sing Bowling For Behave to myself on a regular basis

Every once in awhile, I'll check out one of Opie's video uploads of his podcast on RU-vid for laughs. It rarely disappoints. Last favorite funny thing I remember, when he got caught by a stream chatter for repeatedly taking fake big drinks from an empty coffee mug whenever he didn't know what to say or felt awkward. Here’s exactly what happened. Opie was in some sort of zoom meeting or similar and the host, who started the meeting, introduced everyone as they joined. If you’re in corporate world yk. He then thought that’s how all live presentations are supposed to begin by calling out users as they enter. They’re not coworkers from the office across town but what do I know “ain’t been doin it since I was 18”.

It's easy to complain about racially based hyperbole (entertainment) when it's the white guy, but Anthony was the mirror image of Patrice when it came to racial. But Patrice was a legend for it.

I came to understand just how insecure Opie is when I joined one of his livestreams. People were asking him generic questions and he was looking for insults in them. As if there was an evil subtext in every comment. I don’t know how people worked with this guy

Why does he do it any more? I fucking loved Opie in the early days. He chimed in with the bantz all the time and was fully part of every show, then he seemed to morph into Grumpie, who'd shy away behind the board and it felt like he disconnected himself from everyone in the room, and then he seemed to go through phases where the only time he chimed in, was just to derail shit. How the fuck did that happen?! The guy had it easy, but he made it difficult for himself, which in turn seemed to make it difficult for those around him. At least, that's my feeling. I STILL fucking miss the O&A Show. Listen to any of those early O&A Shows. The best!

I watched a jim and sam clip of them and vos and Bob kelly and the fact that mean jokes were being made about everyone without someone intejecting a butthurt comment about a joke make them more listenable than anything opie does. The fact that people edit out opie from o&a clips should tell him something.

If Anthony had been able to sign a 5 year deal for his last contract, he'd have had 3 years left when he was fired and they probably wouldn't have fired him.

Some of the best OnA shows were when Opie wasn't there. You and Jimmy with Sam, Danny, Travis and/or Than BSing about whatever without being interrupted with stupid callers stroking Opie's ego are among my favorites.
