A long time ago he got offered the SINGER spot with METALLICA but at the time he was the SINGER for ARMORED SAINT He said when ANTHRAX offered him the spot he said he wasn't going to let the same thing happen again
@@jonpugh3939 John bush made the band weak. They went from thrash to trash. Metal to grunge. They literally had to slow the tempo down so John could keep up. Greater of two evils proves it. Joey Belladonna is by far the superior vocalist and lyricist. He has better range, rhythm and tone. John could not sing Medusa, Lone Justice, I am the Law, ect. Even Joey's newest two albums with anthrax were better than "the sound of white noise" and "we've come for you all." "Breath Lightning", "Blood Eagle Wings" "The Devil that You know" are far superior to "Only"
@@codyringer1857 I would have to disagree, and not because I think that Bush a the greatest singer, but because he took the sound away from the rap type stuff that I was getting tired of. Not an argument but personal opinion and taste. Don't get me wrong, I almost bought a shirt today that I had in 1987 from the among the living album. Fuck it , I think I'll just go ahead and purchase another Pantera shirt, and then I know who the band really is.!!!
Same here, Bush and boys were at their best. Was the perfect album for the times, kept it ny yet universal. Trademark album to me and no disrespect to Joey, hes the man too
I was a kid when bush was in the band and i always thought this was definitive anthrax until i checked the older album with belladonna. Yeah i still think growing up with the bush era first i loved this sound
My favorite, and in my opinion, best Anthrax album! I like their classic thrash stuff but Jesus fucking Christ, Sound of White Noise is a goddamn masterpiece! All the songs are so catchy, and John Bush is sooooo good!!
This whole album is awesome. The John Bush era deserves a lot more credit than it gets. I'd love to see a tour where both Joey and John were on, taking turns singing their Anthrax songs.
ToyGunnTube imho, John Bush era anthrax is miles ahead of anything they did with Joey Belladonna. I don’t listen to among the living often but I listen to a lot of songs from this album or stomp 442.
Saw them in Corpus Christi in the mid 80's. Checking back in. Yes, Anthrax is sounding as good as ever. I will be 79 years old this month and will blast their CD very loud as I am sort of deaf these days.
One of the most recognizable intro drum beats in all of heavy metal music. Once you hear it, you know it's this song...in a very Judas Priest - "Painkiller" kind of way.
@@kaungkhantaye6318 Absolutely!!! 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻 And John was "fresh" from Armored Saint, so was To The Top!!! you know this album was a full tribute to Twin Peaks series?! after Only, also Black Lodge. and the entire band was much friendly with Frank Silva.
Who else is listening to this in their 50s after a long day of work, no, scrap that ,a long week! Drinking a beer and smoking.Merry Christmas everyone.
Love both Joey Belladonna and John Bush eras, but this is Anthrax's best album. From start to finish it's incredible. Would love for them to do a SOWN 30th anniversary show with JB and Danny Spitz and play the whole album.
I like Joey doing this song (heard it last night in Nashville)... but John Bush has the perfect voice for this sound. One of my favorite songs... Just kicks butt.
@ Agreed!, RIB was a game changer!, All metal players at the time heard that and said HOLY SHIT! We gotta step up our game! 29 minutes of pure thrash fury that set a new water mark, IMO? And even now still has balls compared to other stuff released at the time?
Everything is perfect Everything is sick, that's it You can't tell me to stop it You can't tell me not to quit, that's it Revolve around yourself It's you and no one else Hard for me to stay Swinging moods that change From calmness to deranged Unpredictable, unpredictable You would see if Only You hadn't taken things out of my hands Only You never wanted to understand Clashing ways to live here Compromise for me I'm at both ends of the spectrum You're somewhere in the between Ah, come clean Revolve around yourself It's you and no one else Hard for me to stay Swinging moods that change From calmness to deranged Unpredictable, unpredictable You would see if Only You hadn't taken things out of my hands Only You never wanted to understand Only You hadn't taken things out of my hands Only You never wanted to understand Only You hadn't taken things out of my hands Only You never wanted to understand Crucified, terrified, sacrifice, my whole life My whole life, my whole life, my whole life My whole life If only I can't contain myself I can't contain myself I just can't take myself
This is the first Anthrax video I ever saw, on Beavis & Butthead! 🤣🤣🤣 I've been hooked on Anthrax ever since then. Although, I actually only really love the John Bush era, not a big fan of Joey Belladonna era...
So my older brother died a few weeks ago and I have been listening to some of his favorite songs, this is one of his top 5 favorites. As I was listening to it earlier a mockingbird was keeping fucking time with the entire song in the cedar tree behind where I was sitting on the front porch. Kinda tripped me out how fast and loud it was jamming right along
@Raymond. You're the rain man? Thank you. My brothers have been a big influence on the music I listen to for years, my oldest brother used to be a Phil Collins fan until he found TOOL so I think I can say that I dougded a bullet on that one. I'm almost 50 and listen to a wide range of music, so I hope there's something for everyone.
My Columbia house penny 6 top 5 for sure, far beyond driven, le sexorcisto vol 1, dirt, super unknown with sound of white noise developed my style of metal. Post metal days of headbanger's ball after the cheese of glam died.
What I love about Anthrax is that even though they switched to grunge for a little while, they still made it sound good with a new singer and made one of their best albums. They also pretty much started Nu Metal with I’m the Man and Bring Tha Noise. If my 50s white catholic mom straight from Iowa can mosh to Anthrax, I think I know what I’m talking about.
I saw Anthrax on this tour with Rob Halford's band Fight as the back up. Totally fucking killer! April 25th, 1994 at the Newport Music Hall in Columbus,Ohio.
I think Anthrax is head and shoulders better than most thrash metal bands, including Slayer who often write about the same tired tropes..Anthrax is rather thoughtful for a metal band
the best anthrax years, john bush is the perfect singer for a band that always was fearless about genres and stuff like that, they always were innovating, john is perfect for a band like this,i really miss him
