To be fair, any politician that goes on air in the current era has to be extra cautious because their opponents will always pick apart every single possible word spoken. That's the kind of world we live in right now, where one misspoken comment can lead to millions of shares on social media.

The original post of this thread referred to how much the politician was actually saying for the words that were spoken. There's a difference between competence on the job and caution speaking on the air. One should not expect any politician to say much of anything substantial on camera in the current age; the truly great speakers can speak volumes in a short amount of speech however there seems to be few politicians nowadays that can do so in public address. That's not a defense of any politician's competence. It's just an observation that whether a politician is competent or not on the job, that it's the current norm for politicians to hide behind a shield of carefully selected words.
