I was told that Claritin doesn’t work the day that you use it. Is that true? I was prescribed it to use to fight random weird, red dots. I was getting on my skin last year. Therefore, I decided to start using it on days that I shave my head because I figured at that point, it would prevent Razor burn. So I have been using it on days where I want to make sure I don’t break out from shaving my head or from drying out and stuff. Am I wrong to use it for this purpose? Today I was having some cold or maybe allergy symptoms and I went to the doctor and she asked me if I use allergy medicine and I told her sometimes I do. She said well it’s not going to work if you use it sometimes. She said Claritin is a drug where it only works if you keep taking it.she said it doesn’t treat the symptoms on the spot.
It's sure as hell not worth a damn as a quick remedy. Maybe at triple the recommended dose you might get some effect. OTH Benadryl is super effective immediately if you hadn't taken any for years because you were afraid of the dementia angle, besides the fact that you can't take it during the day and not feel like a useless zombie and still have to lay down and nap for hours to pay off benadryl's inescapable brain fog toll despite drinking cup after cup of coffee trying to counteract it. So to sum it up, humans have not yet invented a really great antihistamine, as far as I know.
