For those out there who are interested: use 3/4 teaspoon of grit or polish for the inside of your bottle and fill just over half with cut copper and water to 1/2 inch above the copper. Add 1 1/2 teaspoons to the barrel and fill the barrel with just over the hallway mark on the bottle and cover the copper with just over an inch of water then let the tumbler work it’s magic.

Thanks for this! I have a few bottles from the 60s i dug up, they arent special or rare but i like them a lot. Its not cost effective for me to send them off to be tumbled or to buy a machine myself. If i can think of a low cost option for spinning ill definitely be coping this.

any examples of ones you have done?

I run my tumblers for 4 days with 1200 grit then 3 or 4 days with the polish.

Check out the CPP aluminum oxide polish from Johnson Brothers Lapidary in California for your final polish. There is no black foam or residue to remove after tumbling. They come out sparkling.

Where did you buy and who makes the 4" compression fittings? I haven't seen that type of oil filter. What type are you talking about?

What do you add to the tube to actually POLISH the glass ? Simply rotating an empty bottle in a cylinder isn't gonna do much .

Will sand work or do you have to use copper
