It’s so funny because growing up in Montreal it’s not strange or weird to speak 3 languages if you come from an immigrant family. We find it weird when people only speak 1. Love you Antoni. Keep being you.

There was a really amazing bit of advice from his mentor there which the interviewer didn't respond to or question further. Would have liked to hear more about them, because what a great perspective.

The last bit in Polish where he speaks about making out with JVN is hilarious. I speak Russian but could make out a few things, something "with you cats" and "and then go to sleep". Ahhahaha. Loving it.

My last name is Polish, I can relate to Antoni very easily, when I first stared school it was odd to have a Polish father and my last name was weird because it wasn't like everyone else I met, however, as I got older into high school it became cool and almost everyone I meet till this day ask me how to say it and where does it come from.

Interesting. I grew up in Canada and around half the kids I went to school with had parents from somewhere else so it was completely normal and definitely didn't draw attention in any way. Most people I knew spoke either two or three languages to some degree.

I love the shout outs to the specific places in Montreal. In all honesty, pretty famous places but still happy. Also, weirded out by the teacher asking about the 3 languages... Very commonly to know 3 languages in Canada = English/French (bc Canada) and an extra one from immigrant parents.

The weather thing: I’m from Vancouver Island and I lived in Wales for 8 months for a gap year. For like the first two weeks everyone was apologizing to me for the rainy weather! I live in a rain forest, I’m used it it, it’s home to me, lol

He said: "Jonathan, I miss you.. I really want to give you a big kiss and I want to sit and watch TV together like The Great British Bake Off with your cats and we're going to eat some cheese and maybe really good pancaces and then maybe some more cheese and they we'll go to sleep together. I love you." He has a bit of an accent so it makes it even funnier. 😆

Crazy how you can be European come too a country where English is the primary language and is the only language spoken and be shamed for that, a country that praises Europeans while simultaneous looking down on you
@CoalescentDream
@CoalescentDream 4 года назад
Aaron Bynum how is that strange? Every immigrant story is the same. Europeans experienced the same discrimination. They just blend in better after a while.
@nerdygal6133

@haute03
@haute03 3 года назад
@@CoalescentDream They definitely don't experience the same discrimination as those from other nations on other continents, as many POC immigrants do not get the opportunity to "blend in" so to speak. However, I do think that there are always people who are ready and willing to denigrate, question, and/or look down on someone for being different than themselves.

its so obvious that he thinks like a native english speaker. he pointed out how he forgot the polish equivalent of "suddenly" but he seems to also forget that "i realized" and "zrealizowałem" dont mean the same thing at all
@Inominifia

I put "zrealizowałem" in google translate bc I was curious and it said "I realized" lol what does it actually mean? can you explain the difference?
@marg391
@marg391 4 года назад
Yes, as time changes, you can shift into how proficient you are in some languages. My first language was Spanish, and learned English in school. But because my whole life is in English due to living in the US, I think in English...it's pretty normal. His life is primarily in English isn't it? He doesn't speak Polish all day every day, so he will probably think like a native English speaker...
