Professor Antonio Cassio has given us important information about the history of the Pietra Papa mosaic, which was lately conserved within the MCC Libya 2014 training course. Having recognized his own calligraphy on the original documentation of the mosaic, Professor Cassio told us that he himself had carried out the detachment, with his brother Fabrizio Cassio, from the floor of a hall in Museo delle Terme, Rome, in the 1970s. The mosaic, coming from a Roman Villa dated to the 2nd cen. A.D., had been placed on reinforced concrete at the end of the 1950s, by restorers of the Superintendence of Rome, Mr. Pagliarani and Mr. Carinci.
