Antonov AN-225 Last flight ever from Billund BLL Denmark - Now destroyed 

I can't believe I was one of the lucky ones to get access to the plane during unloading. The sheer size of it when standing next to it is almost unfathomable. When it took off I was at the other end of the runway from this video. I remember the traffic was almost standing still, and every time a lorry or a bus would come close you would get that sinking feeling in your stomach. Luckily the view wasn't obstructed, but I could have done without the hail shower. Learning that it had been destroyed made me very sad.

Mriya, you were just metal and rivets, I never saw you in person, but I shed tears when I heard you were gone!!!! Farewell 'Dream', until you are reborn!! RIP :(

RIP AN-225, it was great to see it at Billund Airport. Never thought that it would be the last flight ever, keep fighting Ukraine, we all wish you the best

Man that is cool. I saw an AN 124 take off once and that was pretty impressive. Can't imagine seeing the 225.

What a beast ! I bet the passengers on the Lufthansa flight which departed before the AN225 were disappointed. That would have been something special seeing that thundering down the runway from so near.

At around 5:45 the flaps begin to extend. - I mention it as it is almost imperceptible but still an amazing part of the takeoff routine

Det är en imponerande maskin. Snyggt filmat i övrigt och från en vinkel man sällan ser. Just att se hur de fäller ut vingklaffarna (flaps) förhöjer intrycket.

They extended the flaps and slats to take off position very late. Just prior to take off. Yes the plane is impressively huge but not very modern. Just look at the smoke it left behind.

As a regular visitor to Denmark, mostly via BLL Aiport, as well as an aircraft nerd, to see that amazing aircraft broken in its hangar is truly heartbreaking. Yes, the human tragedy completely outweighs the destruction of this plane - after all this can be rebuilt (albeit with a lot of money), it is only a thing. However it represented what people CAN do when we work together and come up with GOOD ideas. To see the destruction of this amazing plane in the light of that, knowing as well that it was the pride of Ukraine is what really makes me angry with this senseless destruction. I really, really hope that when the dust eventually settles (and I really believe it will) then the AN225 is resurrected to ply the world trade routes again, to show the world and those horrible people in the Kremlin that there IS a better way.

It took off against Billund (BLL) from Bishkek(FRU) in Kyrgyzstan at 18.30 local time, and with on board it had 2.5 million corona self-tests, (the rest of an order of a total of 35 million pcs.) And when it took off, it flew empty back home to Hostomel Airport (GML) in Kiev / Ukraine and no one knew at this moment that this was going to be Antonov AN-225 "MRIYA's" last flight! Det lettede mod Billund(BLL) fra Bishkek(FRU) i Kirgisistan kl 18.30 lokal tid, og med om bord havde det 2.5 millioner corona selvtest, (de resterende af en ordre på i alt 35 millioner stk.) Og da det lettede, der fløj det tomt hjem til Hostomel Airport(GML) i Kiev(Ukraine Og på dette tidspunkt var der ingen der vidste at dette vil blive Antonov AN-225 MRIYA's sidste flyvetur!

Unfortunately the Antonov 225 has now been confirmed as destroyed in a Russian attack at Hostomel airport on the 24th of February 2022.

6:10 Flaps to ground please. That rear end with that giant horizontal stab looks amazing. Also - this shit is STOL capable. The amount of runway it took to get off the ground seems unreal. However my favorite planes are the SR71 and the B2

While taxiing they apparently needed the Follow Me-car for some reason. But why on earth did they send 4 "We're Following You"-cars after the Mriya? In order to collect parts falling off the plane?

Troede ikke Billund havde en landingsbane til så stort et fly? Københans lufthavn skulle jo udvide for at kunne tage imod A380’eren. Og hvis nogen finder på at flyve med Concorde eller lign. igen, så håber jeg de kommer til Danmark, og gerne en “grøn” Concorde engang i fremtiden, som måske endda kan flyve endnu hurtigere :)

how many decades is that thing old and how much fuel it wastes. there should be a new airplane even bigger than this, with more energy efficient motors, faster too. i would have thought technology improves and things get better, but apparently development is to stuck as seen when its same old.

What was the aircraft doing in Billund, of all places... You are saying that she was destroyed. How was she destroyed and where? Has anyone any proof of this? You have a train spotter channel, and you stood waiting in the dark to film this aircraft when it landed in Billund and again the next day when she left?
