This an unhurried, distinctive and moving rendition delineating the beauty of Behag. I loved he Tabla player for his restraint in not dominating the Sitar.
I got a good sleep in the afternoon after listening to it and my weekend more memorable. What else happiness is needed for a musician when the audience is getting sleep. Music is art which be used to make babies sleep .. like me..!!
Two things stand out in this divine performance.. the maturity in performance that comes with Tapasya & Sadhanaa.. it was a near ecstasy experience for me... ❤️❤️❤️ Could not stop and walk away... Had to control my urge to deal with other "priorities" and decided to make watching & listening to this performance a priority...
She is 'besting' the stalwarts! What more can be said than that? This could probably be the best Behag rendition that I have heard! Such sweetness, depth and skill !!
How was it live? Yes it is amazing...all of it..the full hour of improv. I happen to be a musician and I am usually super critical listener. This recital was in the "zone" all the way. And I keep listening and re-listening!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! every 2 days or so.
Glad to have discovered the beautiful playing of this soulful princess. Her expressive skills and timing touch me like the playing of the late Nikhil Banerjee.
Anupama is a rare talent who simultaneously plays the same Swara in both the Lower and Middle Octaves , for example, Shudh Gandhara , she plucks both the Swaras in one strum . With Age and Experience she is bound to scale upwards in her Musical Sojourn. Dr.C.V.Gopal , Chennai.

i'm amazed at the sound of the sitar... the genius design... the sympathetic strings below the playing strings have such amazing resonance. it seems to me that the way this instrument sounds inspired the prominent phrygian dominant mode that all classical Indian music is based around.
You are absolutely right Mr. Pundhir. She has acquired many sweet shades of Pt.Nikhil Banerjee. Beautiful right and left hand combination to produce tunes she likes.By this virtue she produces such melodious star.

Thanks so much for posting this. She is very talented. Mita Nag is another wonderful female sitarist, and I had the honour of seeing her play several years ago with her incredible father. I have met Subhajyoti Guha on several occasions, and in addition to being a good tabla player, I found him to be a really nice fellow.
