Extra length is undesirable. Losable also. Truth be told I really like the idea of having a quarter inch inside my half inch. Even though the only time I tried using a half inch adapter, it immediately snapped off the quarter inch, and a hole in it only makes it possible/likely to snap off the half inch itself.
The anvil is harden steel drilling it heats it up and alters the properties and makes it weaker also don't use a concrete / ceramic drill bit to drill metal
My goal was to show you that you can drill hardened metal with a concrete drill because it is very cheap, unlike a special drill that costs €60. If you noticed the color of the chips did not change which means it did not heat up to the point where the metal loses its properties😉
@@ErCanEverything Truth. May I recommend adjusting the cutting angle of the tip, by the way? If you grind a slightly forward cutting angle (like a metal cutting drill bit) - like on the more effective 'universal' drill bits - those concrete bits will cut into hardened steel even more efficiently. (Worth a try, trust me)
Grind a proper tip on an old concrete bit (preferably slightly 'forward cutting' - [like a regular metal bit, or more accurately: a good quality 'universal' drill bit] - max 5°, make the edge sharp)... Try it, and then reconsider your comment :) (You'd be surprised how well it works. The tip is tungsten carbide, but the rest is steel - makes it usable with a handheld drill; as opposed to full tungsten cnc milling bits) You make valid points as per the potential risks of 'unhardening' the steel. But that risk can be mitigated; Just use some coolant / lubricant while drilling, and/or occasionally dip your drill bit in water.
I am sorry but I can't explain on English 😅
Hi, can you please tell me did you use vidia drill bit or something else, is it quality one or random, also what diameter did you use, I'm asking because price differences are huge, I don't know which one to buy..
I don't know why the short played like this but in the full video the anvil was not originally hex drive inclusive. The bore on the new anvil is smaller.
And most importantly, why is it not clear, increased the weight of the hammer? Only a hammer on the other hand is the return part, about a drill on concrete in order to drill metal... 🤦🏻♂️
The original anvil does not have a hex slot and so I put in another one that does have a hex slot and requires a little reworking. A link to the full video is below this video👇
@@corbinyoung6979try drilling into hardened steel with an HSS spiral drill some time. The carbide insert on a masonry bit is at least theoretically the right material for it, HSS is not.
This is a hardened anvil that cannot be drilled with a regular metal drill bit, so I used a sharpened concrete drill bit. You can try it to see for yourself😉
From an engineering perspective, why would you use a softend inferior internal press fit collar, then to cap it off grind a tungsten carbide drill bit, with which presumably is a diamond wheel, without either a clearance or rake angles, you will only generate a lot of heat ie not cut, if i was to say the way it is ground is the same way that you would grind a satellite drill bit for hardened materials, if you know you know, your either a complete genius, or I need to retrain😮
