Malaysians won't go home because it's NOT just about money & perks.
Sort out the racism and discrimination at home first!
Anwar met the Msian diaspora & students & tried to persuade them to return.
Anwar said that his government would try to persuade skilled Malaysians to return and contribute to the development of the nation.

I have worked in San Francisco, Sydney, Shanghai and mostly in my hometown Singapore. My last stint was Kuala Lumpur and so utterly disgusted with so-called leadership appointments without merits, “special care” are to be given to the connected, the huge disparity of compensation between the higher ups and the working level and most importantly the culture of patronage (aka bodek) that most if not all in important positions are so incompetent of their roles. To this end, I have decided to retire completely to “heal” from a shocking corporate culture I was part of although it was a very short stint compared to my other previous assignments. I understood my comments posting is not a popular one but this is the view from someone from the outside.

Thank you for stating the truth. I am a Malaysian. I have worked with Japanese and American. My last position was in a Malaysian GLC. The corporate culture is as stated by you, sir. Basically, one is not supposed to do actual work. Performance and rewards is base on how well you lick the right boots. I am sad, embarrass and ashame as a Malaysian.

@@meetiong8215 When I was a young recruit serving the Singapore army, I saw many lowly educated soldiers who signed up long term contracts, generally relied on licking boots to climb up the ranks. Those scholars who signed up as soldiers, they relied on their academic merits to climb up the ranks. In short, if you have no talent, you need to lick boots.

Can you imagine the 40% of non malays are contributing to 60% of taxes in Malaysia yet public education institutions which are being funded by taxpayers decided to put them in quotas? Some of the non bumi students Ive met when I ask about their future study plans they said: “you know it’s hard for US to get into public uni right?”. They were even forced to pay quadruple fold of fees in private unis. Outrageous don’t you think?

My parents were treated unfairly their whole life as a "Malaysian." They are hard working honest law obeyed citizens.. i am 60+ years old now. When my sibling and I were teen, my parent told us to study hard, get a good score, then moved to oversea. After i completed my study, both my parent told us not to return to Malaysia after graduated from Uni because there is no future for us in Malaysia due to racism and discrimination. My friend who returned to Malaysia after Uni regretted so much..finally she went to other country who appreciated her talent and skill, she was offered not only a PR but citizenship of that country in a very short period of time.

Malaysia would never ever break through the obstacles of discrimination policy because of religious and racial differences. If Malaysia really wants to be an advanced country, just mirroring Singapore policy will do. However, this is not gonna happen in Malaysia. As you cannot change the mindset of 60% population. All these while, the Malaysia government doesn't care much about brain drained because these groups of people affected politicians' influences. If the people are too smart, then the leaders would find it difficult to rule the country. Don't come to back to Malaysia and give up your brilliant career in overseas. No matter how beautiful Anwar can promise you, but things might change easily when government changed. There is no guarantee of future in Malaysia. Because there are so many uncertainties in politics.

Voice of reason wisely articulated. I met non-Malay students getting scholarships in Singapore and working there. They were given a chance there when their own country rejected them. Fundamentally they were being denied fair opportunity in the first place due to racism. Then the country had to spend money to bring talents back. Waste of money and resources. When you experience fair treatment elsewhere, do you think it is easy to bring back these talents? They know their value and self worth. Why would they return for some perks and incentives knowing their children would go through the same racist treatment and being denied fair opportunities growing up? Why would they settle for incentives and deny their own children a better future?

Madam, I watch your videos because you say the right things without fear or favour. In the first 4 years of my primary school, I was singing "God Save the Queen" not "Negaraku". So you know how old I am. I never thought Malaysia would descend to such a state towards the end of my life. How sad! I had alot of opportunities to migrate but I didn't because this is my "Tanah tumpah darahku". What is the point in having this verse in the National Anthem if it means nothing at all to the Malay politicians across both sides of the divide. And it is not just me. This country was also my father's "Tanah tumpah darahku". He was born in 1899 and died in 1986. There was no discrimination then like there is now. Many of the Bumiputras like Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and his parents were not even in the country at that time. So when these politicians say that citizenship was given based on the so called "Social Contract", I don't know what the hell they are talking about. The Melaka Chetties, Indians who have been here from the time of Parameswara and the Melaka Sultanate are denied bumiputra status but the irony is, the Portuguese Eurasians, descendants of Colonizers who came later, are given bumiputra status. During the Japanese occupation of Malaya, my uncle and brother-in-law walked all the way from India with other Indian Army soldiers, to Malaya, through Burma and Thailand to fight the Japanese. How many people in Malaysia today know about the hardship and sufferings of these soldiers. Hardly anybody because all these are meticulously left out in our history books. It does not fit the narrative they want to create, so it is omitted. So much of injustice. However, to console you and strengthen your fighting spirit, this is what I would like to say, the good times for the Malays will make them weak people whereas the hard times you all face now will make you strong people, after all you are the descendants of the oldest living civilization.

This kind of discrimination is there very unappealing and unfair to non Malay professionals. Why such racist treatments even when allowing to buy tax free cars. That's sickening.

My daughter is currently a Canadian practising lawyer working with Canada federal government. Before she left Malaysia, she has been practicing law in Malaysia for four years, coming to Canada means she has to start the whole licencing process in order to be able to practise law in Canada. But she said its all worth it.

Racism, discrimination, and ketuanan are strongly ingrained into the minds of the special race from year 1 till they leave school that the situation is now irreversible. The young tuans do not even know that we were multi racial before independence. They have been brainwashed from birth that Racism, discrimination, and religious bigotry is their right and their culture. I have resigned myself to the fact that the situation is now irreversible.

Puan, you spoke the truth. Let's admit. Malaysia has become a racist country. It's difficult to retain the bright and attract the bright left. A very dedicated Non-Malay teacher can't even become a Head Mistress in a secondary school in Malaysia. I don't think Dato Seri Anwar or his cabinet can change this racist trend. They are politicians not leaders. A politician exploit the opportunities for his vested interest. A leader create opportunities for the country and people. Nothing will happen, the present trend will continue. Let's accept it and find a way to live as a decent Malaysian with dignity. We as individuals must be a committed Malaysian first.

Thank you Mariam Mokhtar for stating the truth. I have lived in this country for 62 years and I have seen the polarization and lop sided affirmative action just get worse and cause a wider gulf between the races. It saddens me to think that many years ago i thought this would never happen here. The un Constitutional " Social Contract" is what should be eradicated and people should be raised through merit. This country's economy was raised and prospered by the Chinese who are extremely hard working people and have a strong work ethic for progress. The Indians have been the back bone of the labour force and also the professional sector such as Doctors, medical specialists, and lawyers. Whenever we speak of Malays, its about rights, privileges and hand-outs. I love the Malay people but this system has done nothing but make them dependent. I hope this changes

Rather than trying to persuade Malaysians abroad, it would be better if they try to do something for the expertise that is already here, working day and night in professional and non professional fields. Shouldn't the gov enforce some sort of inflation based pay? Prices has been soaring high years but pay is still stagnant, this does not even include the racial sentiments in Malaysia. Fix Malaysia and those abroad will come back.

I am now a New Yorker and considering what is going on at Malaysia lately....yeah. Even if Anwar feels somewhat regretful for how many people have left Malaysia for other self-improvement, sorry but not everyone wanna go back to a country where it's censorship keeps exacerbating into beyond repair. Not to mention that Anwar is siding with the CCP (of all he has done) further solidifying our resolution to remain in the US (or anywhere else) instead of coming back. Until Malaysia is easing down it's censorship by NOT arresting the artists while fixing the economy by making ACTUAL economic changes without copying other countries' format, we _ain't_ going to come back to Malaysia anytime soon.

Even if Anwar were to make any changes, it would only be small ones. He can't do much at the moment even if he wants to as his govt is still new and not as strong as he would like it to be. To go against the the indoctrination and the one-sided policies implemented by the previous govts for many decades is very tough or even not possible. It would take a very firm and no-nonsence leader to bend those biased policies and emerge victorious. That leader i believe would turn Malaysia upsidedown....but in a good way. Could that be Anwar or someone else.

I had successfully raised and educated my children in Australia and they secured successful jobs relevant to their qualifications immediately after university graduation. In recent years I noted Malays have settled in Australia. When Malays are leaving, that’s a bad omen. I've obtained my Master of computer science degree as well studying part time while working full time. With the exposure, experience and qualification that I've obtained here in Australia, it has opened up global job opportunities everywhere in the world. I still remember when I've finished my form 5 in Malaysia and got rejected from most colleges and universities because my result was not that good, I knew that the only way for me to have more opportunities was to venture abroad.
