I so appreciate how well your are able to break these concept down for the average person .Especially, when some one is experiencing high amounts of stress and not able to think clearly. This stuff needs to be taught in school.
Barbara, thank you for teaching me so very much in just a few days of watching your videos ive learned so much about how my brain works and how I got to be living in debilitating anxiety, panic and agoraphobia so bad that I can't even use my bedroom and bathroom
Hooray for your free wisdom! I wish the social security administration would pay for a course of your counseling for a person when, they reject anxiety as a disability and leave you dangling, praying to find and afford a decent therapist.
My husband can’t decide if he wants to stay together, it’s been over a month now I’ve been in “ limbo” it’s driving me insane , not knowing what will happen. He keeps saying he needs time but while he’s taking his time, I’m losing it. I’m so anxious and it’s stinks cause I need to seem nice and confident in front of him. I’ve begged, cried , pleaded and he won’t budge. So I realized to leave him alone. Every time I’ve cried and pleaded he moves even farther away. It starts out as me talking and by the end we’re both ticked off. My therapist said to keep praying 🙏🏼 on it but to not worry about it. She knows that’s easier said than done. He knows that I’ll take him back any time. So he can take his time. It’s all very confusing and leaves me drained. My counselor said to focus on me during this time. Work on my faults etc. i can’t make him choose to stay but I can work on me. Please pray for my husband and I to work this out together. God bless.
Thank you very much for this incredibly well-explained information and since you ask the question in the video, I don't think you are being too technical when you explain how the physiology of the brain works and how it connects with the body and the mind! On the contrary, thank you so much, for honoring your viewers' intelligence by going through the bothering of explaining what happens to us and why when we struggle! To me personally, understanding why things are the way they are is part of the healing process itself! Last, but not least, thank you for your generosity in sharing so much for free: not everyone can afford therapy and this is such an injustice, because there is so much suffering in the world. So, God bless you for your generosity Barbara, and may He reward you abundantly as He always does! 🙏
Thank you Barbara. This video speaks to me. I m going through a rough patch and I am pessimistic about almost everything. "Changing how you feel is the hardest, so start by changing your thoughts and changing your behaviors". I will bear this in mind. Looking forward to more CBT videos on anxiety.
I wonder if your born thinking the glass is half empty? Since i can remember i have always thought this way, and ive had a very rough life, so makes me think did i 'know' my life was going to pan out this way?
Well done. Concise, accurate, and the skills presented were explained in a concrete way. As a mental therapist using ACT and CBT, I appreciate how you can distill complex concepts into easily understood takeaways.
Think off the good things coming up in the future is a good tip. When I feel stressed I remember of the railway events which are coming up. Yes that’s right, I am a massive railway fan
I have health anxiety for a year now I had so many symptoms and now my mood is not good I just feel so weird and my hormones are not balanced it could be from this? I am not taking Medication just Supplements
Listen to this. It belongs to both of us. We have developed a super highway whereby if I do something you don't like, you punish me. As soon as I sense that, I retaliate and go into survival mode. And, it is getting worse. We have to stop it and act like adults, or we will wind up hating each other. Communication is the only answer. I'm willing, are you? ❤❤😊
Question: is it not better to use positive affirmations, like I am safe right here and now, versus I am not in danger right here and now? As I learned that the brain does not "understand" the word "not". ?
That is so interesting when you break it down because my physical stimuli causes an instant anxious reaction like a Highway. Thank you for that explanation
Thanks for breaking this down! Also, the video quality and effects in this video are great! 🙌 hopefully, you know all the work that goes into getting your videos out is appreciated!
Thank you for this. Your point about how our future mental projections are just stories is such an important one. I appreciate that reminder! And I appreciate YOU for sharing your knowledge with us. ❤❤
Could you, please, give us, atheist people, some tips to deal with the anxiety, dread, anguish and sadness about our aging and our death and about people around us aging and dying? Thank you very much from Spain.
Barbara I did enjoy the little lesson in neuroscience. It's encouraging to know that we can exercise control over the direction of our mental health to a more positive place. It made me think of a word I learned recently, neuroplasticity🤗 We really can tap into our brain's capability with the right tools and strategy! Thanks for the great advice! I'm pleased to see your subscriber numbers rising nicely. 😃🐞🌻
Yes, neuroplasticity! I'm so pleased this was helpful, and thank you for letting me know. My free webinar is focused on neuroplasticity as a key part of changing to live a more joyful life. The link is in the description if you are interested :)
Measure your progress in increments. Try not to think in "black and white". There is so much help here on youtube and elsewhere on the internet. Don't give up!!
