FTISLAND's songs are usually hard to be sung simply because we're not Hongki

This song was from their album Zapping pf 2019, before their enlistment. Lee Hong Ki finshed April 2021, Jaejin will finish in September and Minhwan in November

This one especially hit a spot because when this was recorded, the band was going through a super rough patch because they were about to enlist in the military and their lead guitarist and also one of the main songwriters was going to jail for sexual misconduct, so they had already lost a friend, were about to be out for almost two years. After this, Hongki was under so much stress that he ended up spitting blood during a concert in Japan and even his shirt got stained with his blood. After this, the rhythm guitarist took the role of the lead, but eventually left the band too, even though he still remains close to the rest of the band. 2019 was a especially tough year for the band This song is about a breakup, but I have a feeling that this is somehow also projecting some angst and sadness about what happened with their guitarist, because they cut him off after being friends with him for over 12 years, so it wasn't any easy on any of the members. The guy was super talented, but it was sad that he threw his career away due to his actions and the band knew it

Remember when I said that F.T. Island are known in South Korea for also doing Rock ballads? This one and Wind are examples of that although Quit is a lot less Rock oriented. It's a shame that this video of him singing Quit live does not have English subtitles available. The alternate music video which is actually the main music video for the song does have English subtitles. The issue is, no one from F.T. Island is in the video. It's with actors playing a couple. It's not a bad music video but they obviously made this version of just Lee Hong Gi singing it live to show him singing the hell out of the song. It was on my bucket list to see them live, so I was absolutely gutted when the unspeakable happened. I think that is why I love FT Island so much as they remind me of Linkin Park in some ways… especially the powerhouse vocalists. I promise to request something more upbeat and fun next time 😅. Perhaps some live stuff?? 🤔
