Thanks 724 Chicago for nice conversation and willingness to test skip on FM, that was interesting. Didn't know what to expect. Sounds like radio with my KPO microphone is doing really good on all modulations SSB, FM, AM. Your station sounds grate also. You mad me hungry when you start talking about cooking food for the family hahaha. 73 for now.

Anytone is a very good radio. Love the setup. A external speaker makes the audio clearer.

Yeah, much better sound for base station setup. Simple, not to expensive and working good. I did put some poliester deadening material ( that i used for my car subwoofers) inside that external cobra speaker box to make speaker sound less boxy. I think it works for me better that way. Call me crazy but I here difference with or without that stuff in it😂. Doesn't sound like a speaker in aluminum can anymore 😂.

@@jgmopar make sure it comes unopened and if for some reason you will get urge to go to engineering menue which I don't recommend to do and change things make sure you write all the numbers from it, I think 62 positions in there, FYI some numbers when you change in there will never come back even if you want to and radio is junk after that. That's why it's so important to get brand new untouched radio. Radio is not to complicated when you get to know the functions. If you trying to go in to CB hobby then you may have to buy CB radio, this is 10m radio converted to CB. You don't need license to run CB but any other frequency on this radio besides CB can't be used without HAM radio license.

If the channel is clear, FM PLL low pass can be great for noise, but if other FM crosses the frequency, the FM lock effect can stutter.
@SimonJackson13
@SimonJackson13 Год назад
If you have 3 clear channels and over modulate FM, the noise floor drops too. :D

767? 724? I don't understand, these are not Ham Radio call signs or CB handles. Something in between? Could you explain?
@myszaca
@myszaca Год назад
I was confused also when I started with this CB/11m hobby again 5 months ago. Simple answer is that if you not in any club like World Radio or NeedleBenders club you can pick up any number for your CB call sign instead using your name and go for it. Some people use nick names with numbers to be unique and recognized when they are calling other stations. I picked up 767 added my approx location where I live and that's it. If there is another guy with the same cb call sign in your area then you pick different one and that's it. If you part of World Radio Club then you have to pick up number that is not taken and follow the rules how to become member. You can Google that one. I hope this makes sens. If anyone has better explanation for this question please do answer it. I may learn something here also. 73.

@@myszaca sounds pretty cool. I'm also in OC. I got my Ham Radio novice license a while back in 1983 in Argentina (I was 13). but I moved a couple of years later to US and never kept it up. I did talked on the CB from 1992-1996. We had a big group on CH 5 in Tustin. That was fun! - an yeah, I was talking on a RANGER RCI 2950 10 meter ham radio hacked for 11m

I have one here in Belgium, but here it's sold under CRT 7900 V. It works very well . I need to ask a question. Why do you use 3 figure call signs. ( "724", "214", etc). I constantly hear N. Americans using that. Not Ham call signs...
@myszaca
@myszaca Год назад
We use here CB handles or Club prefix plus numbers. Ham call signs are used most of the time on ham bands not cb or what they call free band 😛. Similar to Alfa Tango in Italy, in USA we have World Radio club or NeedleBenders club etc. and they use there club numbers and letters etc. on CB. If you not club member you can choose for your CB call sign any number, name or both and use it. If you like to use ham license no problem I here people use that also. 73

What do the numbers represent and how are they assigned?
@Bones469
@Bones469 9 месяцев назад
No, there are no official licensees for CB so it's not like Ham or GMRS and they are not assigned, kind of like the original handles. People pick numbers that they identify with, from dates to radio models to engine numbers. Most people will keep their same numbers their whole life. A very lose rule of thumb is, many people use numbers when talking skip or DX and use regular handles when talking locally. It's not a hard fast rule but a loose one😅 some of us will use both the handle and the numbers together in case someone recognizes one over the other. Also it is pretty common to tag club call onto your personal numbers. If you switch clubs you take your numbers with you as long as they are free in the new club. In that case the club usually maintains a roster of all their members with the persons approximate location and maybe their handle and first name, some rosters may even include a PO Box or mailing address. I have been in a few different groups over time. Right now I am most active among the UDX group so my DX call will be UDX469.
