So you can talk skip on a mobile? I haven't yet but I have a bearcat 980 SSB Wilson magnet mount and a kl203 haven't tried skip really because I wasn't sure if it was possible in a mobile. Thanks for the info
G'mornin' Rooster ☕☕ . I'm looking to pick up a new Rig here in a few days & it looks like you just did my homework for me as I'm going to need a new radio and amp for it and this is exactly the ballpark I was looking to be in outpyt & power-wise, Thanks 😃
I got a lot of radios. This is my favorite. Awesome recieve and sounds hifi. I use an MXL studio mic through a mixer on mine. Easily the best sounding setup I own. So glad a grabbed a version 1 while they were still available.
Ordering a 503HD later today, great amp paired with the Q6 also, 25/-30w is plenty input. Had a 503/505v & Zetagi B550p, but I do like my Rm's, I also use a 203p 😊
@@Rooster_Radio I'm in England mate, I'd be hitting you up for a 2 by 4 pill otherwise. Tried the others, this just being 1-35w all bands, I'll be happy with 20 - 25w input & 200w out, maybe after this I'll save up for a plug in the wall Acom or the likes. Great video as always matey, appreciate the reply, from the 407 Mcr Uk 👋
I bought one of these RM italy 503 HD from you on Ebay, its great. I combine it with an AT-6666. With around 20 watts in on FM (12 o'clock) it does around 190 watts forward (I don't have a PEP meter) I use it mainly on SSB to talk all over the world. I'm guessing its def doing 300-400 PEP on SSB. I get nothing but good reports with this combo.
@@johnalger9991 With the At-6666 and RM italy combo I find I get the same output if I run 20 watts FM into it or 35 watts so obviously I back it off a little. I find the FM carrier the easiest way to set up both the SWR tune and get an idea of the power out. On SSB my meter peaks over 200 straight watts so I'm guessing that's around 3-400 PEP
@@peterdawson3536hi Peter, after 40 years away, I’m getting back in with the same rig (at6666) as you have (only not the 503HD but the 503). Plan on using in my car for when I’m in the boonies without cell service. Cheers😊👍🇺🇸
@@BobJones-zw3ui Be careful on turning the RF way down on the at-6666 for the standard 503, you could easily blow it up. The HD is better for the AT-6666
Thanks for the explanation. I have a DX 5000 PLUS and I have a RM 503 HD Amplifier, but the problem is that the Amplifier in the Transceiver does not work properly, and the power extracted from the Amplifier does not appear in the watt meter, only the Transceiver power appears. Is there anything in the Transceiver settings for it to work properly? I hope to find the solution. Thank you.

@@Rooster_Radio Don't sweat it Rooster. To each is one's own. You like red I like blue. No need for negative comments. Everyone is different and will chose different set ups. I appreciate the reviews and personal input.
