Hey Again. I have this monitor and have used some time with the EIZO monitor test tool to make the best possible color reproduction. What I tried to in a dark room was to use the gradient tool to get as many shades as possible in the red, green and blue colours. And indeed in my copy red was oversaturated with your test settings. I got to the following values: Red 43, Green 50 and blue 48 on my sample. This has given me a lot nicer reproduction of colors
Each individual unit is indeed different so it's good you didn't just copy the settings of another unit without questioning them. Those aren't extreme adjustments, so I'm glad you were able to tame the overzealous red channel and get better results afterwards. :) Worth noting that you'll still have oversaturation from the colour gamut, that isn't changed by altering the colour channels. This doesn't mean gradients will be blended together, because distinctions are still there - but the various steps on the gradient will still be oversaturated. Including the final (most saturated) shade.
To counteract that I have lowered the Brightness to around 40. I will have adjust to ambient light during the day, and continue experimenting to see how low is acceptable.
Great video as always. Personally not a fan of curved monitors. I work with Audacity and that curvature bothers me when I have to sync the lines of the the audio.
Thanks for this comment, it puts things in perspective! I've been considering a curved monitor for days (G7 or 270QC) but I wasn't sure how it would work in Autocad. It'd probably be an inconvenience.
It does, but the reason for that is because it massively lowers contrast and floods the image, so the monitor is no longer performing the same high-contrast transitions. Instead they're transitions between closer matching shades with the darkest shade being signfiicantly lighter than it should be (reference - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mIB5dyN99C0.html ). Not a compromise most will want to make as it nullifies the main advantage of VA and leaves you with a product that's inferior to IPS alternatives in most ways - including contrast. But there if you need it in some titles etc.
@@PCMonitors This is a deal breaker for me. What is the point of the great contrast when the shadows get completely smeared across the screen? I was coming off a TN monitor and the overall responsiveness and blur is good enough overall but the black smearing is a complete deal breaker. Gonna have to return the monitor, wish more reviews brought this up.
Not really my style, but the models I recommend in various categories are covered on the website - pcmonitors.info/recommendations/. Further discussions can be found on the forum.
No plans to. It was a bit of a stretch to test this one as well as we tend to focus more on models available in the US, where most of our users are based.
im thinking of getting the CQ32G2SE on marketplace (gen 2 model) is there a major different between the 2, im scared the response time will be very bad on the g2 what do you think
This and the G5 Odyssey are at the same price now, both around 250 Euro. The Gigabyte is almost 100 Euro more. I'd buy the G5 after seeing those black transitions on AOC. Any tips?
All of them have similar weaknesses in pixel responsiveness. The G5 Odyssey is nowhere near as fast as the higher end models (G7 etc.) If you're on a strict budget and sensitive to pixel response time weaknesses then you should really consider IPS options instead.
@@ahmedmoustafa187i have the g7 2k and the black ghosting is noticable when i enable vrr from the monitor settings (i play console so idk how this may interact with pc gaming settings). Also the blur and responsiveness are not an issue for me at least. Im not an expert but i believe my g7 gives the best va performance with least va negatives for its price.
Hey…would you prefer this or the msi mag274qrf qd …im just a casual gamer…non competitive…just plays story mode games and fifa atmost…rdr gta etc etc….also dont wanna sut too close to the screen…i love the features of msi but its the larger screen and immersion which makes me confused…right now for two days i got the msi on sale at a good price…so i kind of gave up on my research and hope you would reply…would appreciate your response brother
The written review includes most of that information - pcmonitors.info/reviews/aoc-cq32g3su-cq32g3se/#Features_and_aesthetics: "At lowest stand height the bottom of the screen sits ~36mm (1.42 inches) above the desk surface, with the top of the screen ~459mm (18.07 inches) above the desk. The total depth of the monitor including stand is ~340mm (13.39 inches) with the centre of the screen ~135mm (5.13 inches) from the front edge of the stand. " And AOC's website confirms the width of the screen is 700.5mm.
I’ve had this monitor and I have just one question that I can’t seem to get the answer for, can I just the cross hair in this monitor? It’s just way to big
The AOC CQ27G2(U) - pcmonitors.info/reviews/aoc-cq27g2u-cq27g2/. Or if you want some form of HDR capability or simply prefer high brightness levels, the ViewSonic XG270QC - pcmonitors.info/reviews/viewsonic-xg270qc/.
@@PCMonitors Thx, i tried this monitor and it flickers with vrr enabled. Not much, but i could see it. Imho the samsung g7 is still better even it has no speakers. The g7 panel is faster and has less overdrive issues. Even blurr is strong on the benq (and yes there is an option for blurr reduction, but it hurts my eyes after few hours). I like the g7 way much more!
@@PCMonitors Thank you for answering, but I don't know of an IPS 1440p 16:9 curved monitor. I had a really bad experience with a 1440p 34'' flat ultrawide monitor. Before buying I've read many reviews and comments stating, that flat monitors are for work and curved are for entertainment and believed them. As soon as I've installed the monitor, I've immediately noticed that the side edges were distorted to the point of being useless. I couldn't even understand how so many people praise big flat screens, are they non-human? I suppose 16:9 won't have edges as distorted as the ultrawide, but still, 27'' and 32'' require a curve. There are curved IPS ultrawides, but ultrawides in general sacrifice vertical height, thus increasing PPI and making text unreadable. (Sure, Windows has UI scaling, but it is glitchy)
@@PCMonitors I probably should have rephrased my question. Can this 1000r monitor be used to effectively see the video timeline and side panels? (While, possibly having a different monitor for fullscreen preview)
There's a significant difference between a 34" ultrawide and ~32" 16:9 model. The former does work better curved the latter does not, according to my own experiences and that of many others. Provided you're not sitting far too close to the screen and have normal sideways movement of your eyes, seeing the sides of a 32" 16:9 screen shouldn't be an issue just because it's flat. Unless it's a particularly low resolution screen, I edit videos on whichever monitor I'm reviewing at time - just reviewed a flat 31.5" screen and had no issues at all from ~70cm. I didn't mean to be entirely dismissive of the CQ32G3SU for video editing, however. It could work just fine - really depends on the sort of video editing you do and how important accurate colour output and consistent gamma is.
Well, you could listen to or read the review and find out! Like any monitor, it has its pros and cons. Even if you just skip to the conclusion you'll know what they are. :)
No Samsung panel in use here. But their 'recipe' for sure, and not a recipe everyone finds palatable - twitter.com/pcmonitors/status/1438438818508677125.
Samsung doesn't manufacture LCD panels any more. CSOT and AUO have taken over their VA manufacturing duties. This model is based on an AUO panel - pcmonitors.info/reviews/aoc-cq32g3su-cq32g3se/#Specifications.
Definitely can't judge the image quality from the video. As noted near the start, many factors affect how things will look in the video. So don't put too much weight on that. Glad you still liked the review (exploration and points made etc.) 😉
@@PCMonitorsMy last screen was / is kinda bad pixel wise... its kinda grainy, i dont want to make the same mistake agin. Was the best review i have seen on it by far! Gj mate.
