The problem isn't AOCs statement per se but it's the attribution of fault. The reason Gazans can't get food is that their government is still engaged in war with Israel. The moral thing to do is to call on the Gazans to stop their war on Israel. Expecting Israelis to risk their lives to deliver food to people that are actively at war with them is not the moral thing to do. But Trump isn’t a regular citizen. He is the leading Republican presidential candidate. Ultimately he shouldn’t be qualified to run for office because he has extreme financial pressures that should disqualify him and is an insurrectionist. But SCOTUS unanimously said that he is qualified and states are powerless to intercede. So the question is, should a state civil judiciary put a presidential candidate in such a position that he may compromise national security to resolve it.

She is claiming that Israel is starving the Gazans deliberately by blocking the import of aid, but she offers no data whatsoever to support it. Israel publishes very specific data about the tonnage of food that they allow in every day. Does she dispute their numbers? Does she claim that substantially more food arrived, but was not let in? If so, how much more? Why won't she share her data? If she has no data, how does she know what she's talking about? There are other possible explanations, such as hijacking of aid by Hamas, poor distribution by aid agencies, etc. Can she refute these? If she has no data or evidence to offer in support of her claim, why should I believe her?
If you would take just a second to look it up, you can see hundreds of aid trucks waiting to enter Gaza. Israel won't let them in until they won't be stolen by Palestinian leadership. Hamas steals the food. At any point, the people can rise up against Hamas, but they won't because they support Hamas. The way I see it, they don't deserve food. They are making the choices they are making.
This is not a brilliant statement and far from it. Im not sure what officials from the U.S. she is citing. The U.S. stance is that Israel is not in violation of any international law. There is no evidence for what she says and it is an over simplification to fit her narrative. I basically agree with what you’re saying except the part about equating the Jewish population with the extremist government part. I agree we shouldn’t condemn them for the actions of the govt, but right now the vast majority of Israelis do support the way the government is handling Gaza. They want him out for his failure on Oct 7th, and the moves he was making on the Supreme Court- not because of the genocide, they largely support it to varying degrees according to poles.

I mean, by the legal definition it is reasonably clearly a genocide, and the ICJ in its preliminary ruling found that "plausible" (the full investigation will usually take years and gather a lot of evidence before reaching a conclusion). It's not an outrageous claim, it's simply what the facts tell us. Indeed the US Government has also said it's a genocide, it just didn't use the word. It said that A) 100% of people in Gaza are experiencing acute hunger, B) Only land routes can resolve that, C) Israel won't allow that. And we know who created those conditions to begin with via restrictions, border controls, shutting off clean water, and attacking infrastructure. There's plenty of additional evidence for different treatments of genocide, but it's not in question at all that as things stand Israel would be found guilty of crimes against humanity.

If Israel wanted to commit genocide, they could accomplish that goal in an afternoon. They do not.
