I can't recommend this monitor due to horrible ghosting issues. Good review though. I bought this monitor thinking it was pretty good considering the price but it turns out it has really bad ghosting. I already knew about VA ghosting but didn't think it could be this bad. I can not recommend anyone getting this monitor unless you simply can't live without the strong contrast ratio and can't afford anything higher quality. Even then I still wouldn't recommend using it as your main gaming monitor. I don't know if this applies to all versions of this product, but the one I bought had unbearable ghosting out of the box. After going through most of the settings and doing some research on improving ghosting on VA monitors, I managed to get rid of about 50% of the ghosting issue. That still only made it somewhat tolerable and it also caused the colors to be pretty off. Could definitely hope that you include a ghosting test in future reviews of VA monitors. It would have made me aware of the issue before buying it myself. I don't want it to sound like I'm blaming you for not mentioning it though, this review goes into a lot of detail and I think you should keep making more.
Any advice on what settings you did to help this issue? I picked this up on a deal and coming from a 1080p ips panel I notice the difference big time. Haven't got the funds for a decent ips 1440p monitor but may have to return this.
@@ChefLiamT I don't really know what settings I changed but what I would do is google "va ghosting test" and tweak the settings while looking at that. Just can't even recommend bothering with it tho since it will most likely require you to ruin the colors completely, and it still won't even be remotely close to an ips monitor. I would recommend looking at this one instead if it's available where you live, LG 27" ultragear 27GN800P-B, it's a 144hz 1440p IPS monitor that I got instead of the VA one. It's should only be 25% more expensive but you get everything you could ask for.
I have a question regarding troubleshooting, i ve got this monitor some months ago in january, its june 20th as im writing this. And i want to know how to fix the deep blacks problem, what settings do you use for gamma contrast and brightness cause i cant seem to help it, its really annoying as patches of black/green appear in both movies and games especially during cinematics, i came to hate darker toned/ambiental games because of this, and nothing on the net seems to help maybe you d know something. Hello, thank you for your comment, the thing is it depends on several options you choose, fist for the best performance they always suggest using the display port. However I wasn't using the inbuilt options to change their pre sets, I choose the settings I wanted 1 by 1 in the settings options that best suited me for instance with my poor eyesight, content that is brighter than most works for me. I would go through the presets and see if these work or choose your own settings in the options, also worth looking at your settings on the console.
Hi, I'm interested in buying this monitor, but I'm afraid of ghosting and black smearing. I tested on my brother's monitor which is VA and it looked terrible in fast paced games like valorant, the color literally lags behind and it looks awful. If ghosting or black smearing aren't bad on this monitor, is there a setting that you need to set up for that or is it good by default? I also saw a comment someone posted that this monitor has really bad smearing and that nobody that can't handle it should buy.
id say buy it if you care for smearing(non existent) and ghosting or input lag is not a problem but i for one have trouble with deep blacks, maybe i ve tinkered with something i shouldnt have but who knows. In general its a good one for the price, 155 hz work like a charm, games display beautifully in 2k, has good viewing angles, and im happy with it, if it wasnt for the deep blacks i would ve gave it a perfect score after 6 months of using, but with it, its an 8/10.

@@Jexus_1 i think ive fixed my issue with lots of tinkering and stress, but still, this is a low end entry, if id had the ways, id save some money for something more premium, altough it gets a students job done, i use it with pc not console

I'm interested in the monitor, can you confirm that on ps5 you play in 120hz 2k? Another question does it support HDR? How are the contrasts in dark scenes?
Good morning, thank you for your comment, I can confirm yes it will run on your PS5 at the following details, PS5: 2560x1440@120Hz these are from my notes and the AOC website. AOC don't seem to offer HDR with this monitor however they have AOC game colour and shadow control.
Hi, thank you for your comment, yes it will run at the settings you mentioned, I have shown the settings part for the Xbox Series X in this video, just check but from memory and notes it will give you these results.
I thought I noticed a slight bleed on the bottom left corner but it was an outside source, on this model I haven't noticed anything however being visually impaired it might have been noticed yet.
May I ask if you are using a preset option like movies or games, that one of the monitor buttons options have, when in these modes it disables the changing of settings.
@@RickysTechTalk Im not using any preset. Its not that sharpness is gray out, its just, it doesn't exist. Do you remember, did you had 100% sharpness? If so, maybe I can search for a firmware that you had.

Hi I have Xbox series S, just bought this monitor. I can only select 1440p and only use 60hz, not 120hz. I use the hdmi that came with the screen. Any help would be appreciated🫡
Hello, thank you for your comment, you should be able to achieve 120Hz, XBOX X and S: 2560x1440@120Hz this is from their website, it depends on the game you are playing, with being 120Hz you should achieve 120fps too. I can only suggest trying different HDMI ports or cable, then reset video options on your Xbox. I will see if there are other options to help.

Hi, yes that is correct and yes your graphic card will get this resolution depending on connections most of the times monitors will require a display port to reach it's highest level of resolution.

Does this monitor support 1440p 120hz on the PS5 now that sony supports 1440p output? I checked the manual for this specific monitor and it says that the ps5 only will run att Full HD and 120hz. The release date of this monitor was 2020 and the 1440p output update for the ps5 was in late 2022. Should i be worried?

This monitor has way better reviews overall. Lg and others have lots of trouble with llight coming through this one has good blacks only beaten by okeds
Hi, the main question is the connections on your graphics card? As long as you either have a HDMI or DP connection then yes this monitor will work perfectly.
