In this video I go through a few of the final steps to getting this kit completed, in collaboration with Kent Models
Unfortunately I missed some little bits here and there such as fully assembling the interior tub and getting the body on the chassis and all the clear parts installed, but that was due to an absolute rookie error on my behalf
I just want to take this moment to thank Kent Models enormously, for this collaboration build, in helping me get my RU-vid channel up and running and providing some amazing products at amazing prices.
The kit, wheels, carbon fibre decal sheet, flat clear spray, metallic blue spray, hyper polish amongst a few other items can all be found over on their website www.kentmodels.co.uk and if you head over there between now and Tuesday, the 2nd of December, you can a whopping 22% off your basket by using the black Friday code '2021' so if you're looking to test yourself to a new kit, a gift for someone else, some new tools or restocking your paints, now is as great a time as ever to head on over and have a look. Also each month, if you have subscribed to their newsletter, they will email out offers on for that month, such as free kits when spending a certain amount for example, so that in itself is also worth it.
All views and thoughts are my own. And I've even been honest about the issue I had with the bumper (my fault not the kit) instead of trying to hide it.
I have absolutely loved working on this aoshima kit, it was such a great detailed, clean and great kit, and the addition of the aoshima watanabe wheels required zero work, making aoshima kits the easiest to use aftermarket parts without any hassle or trouble.
I hope this video and the others in this S13 build series has been enjoyable to watch and follow, maybe even inspired others to try something they've never tried, or something new.
I have been absolutely blown away by the support of the you all, your comments and likes have been truly appreciated, thank you all so much for watching! I cannot wait to get started on my next build and share it with you all.
Thank you once again, have a great day 👍🏻😊👍🏻

Painting window trims is probably my least favorite part of the hobby. I feel like I'm always gambling. Your method seems to work well, with the right masking tape, and fresh blades are a must. The double sided tape is also a great solution to fix the glass part. I'll definitely try it!

Yeah it's such a big part I think, painting the window trims as it ties it all up and brings that bit more realism to the build. Also I decided to try and use the double sided tape because I had bad experiences with glues, clear glues, pva glues, and how the would haze or seep out. With the tape I feel it holds well enough, I've not noticed any windows dropping out yet anyway lol

Love a good Ps13 , wish they put the full sr20 engine bay in this kit .

Yeah love that era of car, like ubsay, shame it didn't come with the engine in this kit. There is a kit floating about with the engine but it's a bit older and rarer to find unfortunately 😔

Lovely finish Chris. Well done on your first build series - you'll be able to look back on this in the future and see how much you've progressed with the video work. I had the same issues with that seat as I used it in the RX-7 - I had to trim the edges.

Nice looking build. I have the early type Silvia from Aoshima, and I found out the culprit, why the front bumber doesn't fit well. It's the part number 28 that connects the body to the chassis and holds the front bumber in place. You must fit it better to the chassis so it will not get out of shape. Maybe do some cutting to the chassis mounting points.

Thank you very much! 🙏🏻🙏🏻😊 Ah that's brilliant thanks for the heads up, I'll remember that for if I build this one again, thank you 🙏🏻

@@KitBuilderChris don't mention it. I didn't want to start building it, but I couldn't help but to do a test assembly after seeing this vid. I also found out, that the front axles were tilted a bit too forward (too much caster?). I need to fix those issues. On the other hand one could quickly fix the front bumber fit issues by cutting the attachment slots shorter 😉

Hi chris a new sub here. Seen the whole build and you did well taking a bit more time for the final assembly. What about the masking tape,with Tamiya and KIP tape you can,t go wrong. I used cheaper tapes aswell. But prefer to spend a bit more on masking tapes rather more time and efford on polishing and cleaning that bleeding spots. Also you can buy a thing that looks like a toothpick but has a soft rubber tip,than you can use more force to avoid bleeding and not dammaging the paintwork. I don,t have a brandname,mine was in a package wich i bought on amazon. Price was E38,- for a very complete kit with some good tools and offcorse some chinese absolut useless stuff.

Hi Jan, thank you so much for subscribing and watching, I really appreciate it 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😊 yeah I normally use tamiya tape, it's never really let me down truth be told. I had some cheaper brand tape I got as a gift, so that cheaper stuff will be used for mocking or holding parts together. Anytime. I need masking and painting, it'll always be tamiya now. Awesome thank you for the tip with the rubber pointed end, I'll definitely look into getting one of them, thank you 😊

Have you thought about using a black sharpie marker for your window trims I try to keep a couple of black and silver sharpie markers when I want to do my window trims but it's just an idea
@KitBuilderChris
@KitBuilderChris 2 года назад
Good idea that, I haven't personally tried it, I feel a permanent marker has a slight purple tint to it, and looks too shiny. But I have seen someone use a molotow black pen, and that came out fantastic!
@bojeelll9192
@bojeelll9192 2 года назад
@@KitBuilderChris I've noticed they come out a bit shiny too I just kind of deal with it because I don't want to take the time to mask everything up just to paint call me lazy that's okay
@KitBuilderChris
@KitBuilderChris 2 года назад
Oh no I don't think it's lazy, it's what makes you happy and what you're comfortable with, that's the great thing about this hobby, there's no way set in stone, just what ever works for each individual builder 😊😊 I think I'll definitely try your method one day though 👍🏻
