As an owner of both... I completely agree with this video & the talking points. Like he says, Am. Bullies only require that nightly walk... whereas APBTs need a hike or a run. Animal aggression is also like night and day.

It is a good thing that many don't have the dog they think they do. A real APBT is NOT for everyone. I applaud you and your video. Finally I find someone that is actually educated about the breed.

I have both an American Bully and a APBT (shout out to my English Mastiff too) and you nailed it Bruh. Their temperaments are miles apart and they bring different attributes to the table but if taught properly both can be groomed to be great family companions.

I have a well bred American Bully and I find this guide very accurate. :) I love my Bully it frustrates me when people classify them as APBT. ( not that I have anything against pitties ! I love them but they are not the same breed!) The dog aggression is a big thing and a lot of people are not equipped to handle a dog aggressive breed. Sometimes it not a matter of training or socializing it can be part of the APBT breed. People get themselves and the dogs into trouble not being prepared to handle this in a responsible way. The American Bully is much easier in this area most of them are easy going. Although mine tends to like to rough house with other dogs and needs to play with dogs of his own size and mass because he overwhelms anything that can not handle his size. ( they tend to be heavier then they look ) The health of these dogs is sort of scary because they were bred to have exaggerated features that really create the health issues. I do appreciate the American Bully breed standard set by the UKC eliminates the very flat faces and exaggerated gait some are bred to have. This benefits them health wise. IF you want to dodge that breathing issue find a responsible breeder that breeds them with a little longer muzzle and a not so exaggerated gait. You do pay a pretty penny for a Bully. And always remember like the guide said there are always many great APBT in the local shelters even puppies. If you can save a life that would be the best thing! Someone commented about hip problems. As it stands its estimated that 50% of large breed dogs will get hip problems from bad genetics. Responsible breeders should screen for this issue but the Bully is a new breed compared to the others and I am not sure if one can find a hip certified bully easily. Since to properly screen you need to screen a few generations. Responsible breeding goes a lot farther if you want to learn more about dog genetic issues and responsible breeding visit my F.B page. facebook.com/thepuppytruth

Yeah Bullys are lazier and don't need the same exercise as an APBT. Also Bullys have more health problems and don't live as long:( I live an active life style so ABPTs always will remain a better choice for me.

I currently own both an American Stafford (13 months old) male and an APBT (6 months old) female. And I have to say that these two are the most intelligent dogs I've ever known and worked with. They live to have fun and are always willing to learn. Also they are so in-tuned too and with me, and its crazy. We eat, sleep, workout, and enjoy life together. I wouldn't trade them ever!!!!! Keep up the good work BULLY BADASS TV!!!

Eric Peyton I have 3 different breeds of bulldogs (APBT, AMSTAF, & American bulldog) all are awesome but I have to keep an eye on certain things when their together or definitely if any other animals or dogs that they haven't been calmly introduced to...but when it comes to any children they'll lick them to death and would even stairdown me to protect them.

Wouldn't even class pit amstaff as separate breeds because they are not and in 1956 to 57 English Staffordshire bull terriers were brought over to the USA to breed in for bigger heads and chests for the so called amstaff.3 breeds really one breed Staffordshire bull terrier.

The apbt is a working breed that was bred to be animal aggressive as required for hunting, then later was suited for fighting purposes. Unlike most hunting breeds that track and bark at prey to alert their masters, the apbt's would actually fight/attack it's prey, then hold it down for it's master to arrive. What made them such fierce fighters/hunters is that the self preservation instinct was bred out of them, which is why they are so fearless and can absorb so much pain. Unlike bully's, however, apbt's are very athletic, agile, have lean muscle, a high prey drive, are very territorial, and have limitless levels of stamina/energy. Overall, imho, it's just a superior breed that NOT for everybody! Bully's, on the other hand, haven't been around long enough to really be called a true breed. Some look very impressive, while others look like orthopedic nightmares with weight problems and horrible symmetry. Still, there's too much variation (characteristic and temperament wise) and "type's" (i.e. XL, standard, classic, pocket, extreme) within the bully family for it to considered a true established breed. And the base/foundation stock used to breed them is a secretive mess that breeders don't like to be honest about. I mean, depending on the breeder, their stock could contain anything from a number of different breeds including, but not limited to, breeds such as the American bulldog, American Staffordshire terrier, Cane Corso, Boerboel, Presa Canario, Neo Mastiff, English mastiff, bandogs, Dogue De Bordeaux, English Bulldog, Rottweiler, Bullmastiff, and dogo Argentino. Add to that bad breeders who don't consider anything else but the 'look' when breeding creating all sorts of unpredictable results then over pricing the hell out of them. This is not me bashing bully's at all; I'm just trying to differentiate between the two and educate those who don't know the difference. Even though Bully's may be nice dogs, I'd never pay $4500 for what's really a mutt/mixed breed. And yes, they do get that high.

Its kinda like comparing a suit with a tractor, one thing is made for fashion, the other for working... The big question should be what do you want a dog for? I love my APBT, he's a good bush dog, he chases bears and coyotes, and is so strong fast and athletic nothing in 6 years has even touched him.

robert lockhart well said homey....and 4500 isn't even a drop to what some are getting for their Bullys....Granted some of the Bullys bred by knowledgeable, experienced dog breeders, are beautiful animals, but I'm like U, I'd never drop that kind of cheddar on a non working dog.

Excellent video. I am an owner of one of both the terrier, a female eight years old, and the bully, a male six years old, and your evaluation of each was exactly on point. In fact I kept saying yes! yes!! yes!!! on all your comments because I felt like you were talking about my two. Thanks for your confirmation of each of their characteristics and a very informative video. I was so impressed I subscribed to your channel. Thank you.

I adopted my 85 pound bully from our local shelter. He likes to hike but over an hour he gets tuckered out. He is so good with kids, adults & dogs. He stays with my 80 year old grandmother and her chihuahua while I am at work and is a doll (: I've owned both & love both breeds, love the look of Dee-bo he is short and muscular. Great to educate people with because they are so intimidated by him until they realize he is a baby

Great video... Just one suggestion... I believe that any responsible breeder/ fan should always state that apbt are not regular dogs for regular people. They require extreme amounts of socialization, 100% dedication to obedience training, and insane amounts of exercise and discipline. Without these 4 MUSTS, you are going to have an unruly dangerous dog that will either end up dead or in a shelter waiting to be dead if you are lucky. If not, another pet, child or family member may end up dead and you in jail. An Apbt is not a dog for the faint hearted. Don't get an apbt if you rent, if you are planning on getting married or have babies, if you are not disciplined in your own life, if you do not have at least 1 hour daily to heavily exercise and train your dog, if you hate excercise, if you don't have the money to buy a well bred ukc registered apbt or if you don't understand commitment, or if it is your first dog. Please get a shihtzu!

My APBT seems to naturally love cats and other dogs, I mean they're good with other dogs if you socialize them early on but honestly I think I just got lucky with his individual personality. I think one of the main problems APBT has with other dogs is that they take everything as a game and have a really high pain tolerance, so real escalated violence doesn't take too long to ensue. Great video. :)

I'm glad you are speaking well of Pits. I have a Pit and she is unbelievably awesome. She's friendly as can be, she loves everyone. Every morning when I take her out before work, she drags me to the door of the business below my apartment to say hi to her two buddies for a min. After I get home, she drags me to the front door of the business to say hi to her other buddies that work there later in the day. She gets along with all other dogs and cats and always wants to meet wild animals, squirrels, rabbits, cats everything. She was abandoned at a gas station, someone found her and brought her to the shelter and I thankfully found her. Anytime I get mad about something (not at her) she bombard me with kisses. If I pretend to cry she does the same thing and will not stop until I'm laughing hysterically. She sees my mom a lot and one day I started acting like I was punching my mom in the arm and she was yelling and making noises like I was hitting her and in a second, my dog was on the couch and between us giving me her warning that she's about to fuck me up. She is a great friend and I love her so much. Every other Pit I have ever met start licking my face instantly and act like we've been buddies for years. I love them and it's most likely the only breed of dog I'll ever own from now on. Thanks for the video. I just wish people would stop hating them. I've read some fucked up things people have said about Pits that makes me want to kill that person because it's so bad and so hateful and these idiots have probably never even seen a Pit before. Even banning Pits in some cities. What kind of shit is that???

Love your videos, first off and I am a big fan.For me personally I am trying to go through a reputable breeder here in my area, keep in mind that I have researched the breeder, his breeding stock and his facilities, to go with an american bully mostly due to aesthetics. I must explain that I am a wheelchair bound Iraq Veteran that lives in an area where violence to my self, my loved ones and my property and possessions is not a matter of If but when. The qualities that I need in a dog, and for the record I hate using the term "dog" because to me these animals are so much more than can be summed up in one word yet for all extensive purposes it shall do dor mow, are 1) service dog 2) companion animal 3) guard/ personal protection. The American bully for me, out of all the other breeds, is at the top of my list due to the physical, mental, dietary. etc requirements of owning a dog of "insert breed name here". I also understand that in order to get a dog that suits my unique needs I am going to have to devote a lot of time, energy, and possibly, make that most definitely, money to get an animal that will suit mine and my families needs/wants. And if at the end of the day if I end up going with any breed other than APBT or an american bully then so be it. You can ask a lot out of these animals but they are not super dog, from the comics. I hope that the one thing that anybody can take away from my comment is that these are breeds have their good and bad traits, as do all breeds. So do your research,dogs are family members not property, and always treat your pets with the same love,caring and respect that you would show a family member. TL:DR- Both breeds are great but definitely not for every owner. Do your research. Wait a month.Do your research again and if you still want a dog of that breed then go for it, within reason. Just remember that dogs are individuals and may not conform to breed standards.

I've had both an APBT and a Daks line tri Bully. I know two dogs don't speak for every dog out there but the temperament of the APBT I have is the complete 180 to the stereo type of the breed. Everyone that's met the dog cannot believe how sweet, gentle and friendly the dog is. Changed many people's perception of the breed.

Great videos and super informative. As a former owner to a 15 apbt that was my best friend to a fresh owner of a rescue 1.5 yo American bully. Both dogs are amazing but require an experienced owner. The bully is way calmer and lazy. There really is no comparison. If you want an athlete get a apbt. If you want a loyal friend with a huge head who's kinda messy then go with a bully. Either way you just made the best decision of your life. Dogs rule ❤

I can't comment an the American Bully, but I have 2 rescues pits. Your analysis is right on. Mine are about 6 years old and until this year they were definitely dog aggressive, but they are lovers of people. I bring them to Home Depot and a few people move out of the way, but most, who have not met real a pit bull, they fall in love with the dogs. In the final analysis, I think their aggression has diminished because I am a better owner. Good Video- you described the APBT very accurately.

dude dude it's really hard to find a pure bred american pitbull out here in okc people got apbt mixed with bullies saying they're 100% & selling them for too much money so i bet it'll be hard to get a pure bred apbt at a shelter
@creepercycling4857
@creepercycling4857 6 лет назад
I know I'm a year late here, but to anyone reading this, my APBT and his brother were transferred from a shelter in OK (maybe not OKC, we don't know) to my local shelter. I'd say 20% of the dogs in that shelter were staffy/pit/bully breeds of some sort and they were stuck in there longer, on average, due to a LOT of local breed laws around here. We got our 9 month old for

Ok, what I got off this excellent brake down of these breeds is that, the apbt is cheaper, will live longer and healthier, so it'll be around healthy + longer, to maul and raise havoc in all neighborhoods around the world. So, I got myself a bully, who's great grandpa happens to be the one and only "Aston Martin" Thanks!

Chee Choin Pits are good dogs when owned by people who can properly dedicate enough time to them and know what they're buying. Also when they have owners who can control their drives in certain situations.

+Kyra and Friends You are 100% correct. The trouble about some of these pet owners is that, they dont love the dog for what they are, but more cause of what they represent and the effect it has on people when they tell em "I own a PITbull"...the word "pit" is what kills me, because in my uneducated opinion, if your dog never been in a pit and don't belong in no pit, then why breeders dont start by changing that stigma? Arent they "Terriers"? Isnt that a more proper way to represent your pet? Once again, I love all dogs, I just hate the way some folks capitalize on an animals rep just so they can get a rep as well...thats all folks!

My APBT is game I agree with the temperament part on the APBT , we socialized our dog with people and other pets she loved playing with my friends golden retriever for hours , Then my dog got bit by another dog who was not socialized and she destroyed it and has been the same way ever since to other animals she is an excellent family pet , blue nose fawn 73 lbs , will not let her near other dogs at all now

Well I hardly ever comment on things except for if they got it totally wrong or they did a fantastic job and you sir did a wonderful job.. The one thing that you did that really stood out to me that you do not keep referring to the breed as Pitbull you kept calling at American Pitbull terrier..which in my eyes helps take away from the awful reputation of the name and for that I thank you

The dog one the left is a true working bulldog. Gorgeous! Bulldogs (APBTs) were bred as all-around farming, hunting, and guarding dogs that also were used in the bull baiting matches of England. It definitely wins in the working department, and I even believe that it wins in the looks department also. The dog on the left is not the best that American Bullies have to offer. I understand that the Bully is a show breed, but, if you ask me, there are some really great Bullies out there. I respect those mastiff/APBT mixes that I see over the English bulldog/APBT mixes though. This Bully is an English bulldog Bully (stocky, short-legged, shorter-faced and wide).

According to Pit Bull Rescue Central, the UKC recognizes the American Pit Bull Terrier as a purebred dog, but the AKC does not. The AKC will only allow the registration of American Staffordshire Terriers. Staffordshire Bull Terriers are another breed that can be registered with both kennel clubs, but there is some disagreement as to whether it should be classified as a pit bull. Because there are other breeds that closely resemble pit bulls, it is impossible to know if a dog is full-blooded without seeing pedigree papers. Unfortunately, some dishonest breeders turn to shady kennel clubs for falsified papers on dogs that do not have verifiable lineage. Researching the kennel club to determine its authenticity is a vital part of determining the purebred status of a dog, notes Pit Bull Rescue Center.

It depends from dog to dog. My Xl Amercian Bully is a couch potato and would love to sit and cuddle all day and he just needs few walks. My other bully,the standard one is extremely athletic and needs to run at leat once in two days or else she starts whining and becomes totally closed. As in she just sits and doesn't eat, respond etc.

I wouldn't always say that cost is a major issue, but I don't understand why people would ever bother to drop $1000 or more on a dog with no health tests, titles, proof of health or working ability. Not saying that's every breeder but let's be honest, it's A LOT of breeders "reputable" or no. I can excuse a lack of health tests or titles if a dog is from proven working parents but otherwise? That's like buying a Daewoo at the same price you'd buy a Camaro for hype's sake. I wouldn't mind getting an AmBully at all. In fact, I'd really love to get one but with the dubious track record with health and the commonplace glorification of bad structure, I'd need not only good looking correctly built dogs but also a kennel that health tests for hips and elbows at the very least, and finding both at the same time is like finding a needle in a haystack

I bought a pup for 300 of Craigslist from a good family that’s neighborhood didn’t allow “pit bulls” but he’s been dna tested and is 100% apbt and he’s never showed any aggression towards other dogs or other small animals either so for sure as long as there raised with other animals they arnt aggressive at all but he most defiantly is a lot of work and if I don’t give him A lot of exercise he will go crazy in the house and act up a little so you need a lot of time to play with and work with them I’m 15 and I just started doing online school so I have more time for him but he’s a great dog but defiantly not right for most people.

More and more I'm starting to REALLY enjoy this channel... You guys have come a LONG way.... I'm currently looking for a dog again after raising APBTs in the mid 90's and stopping... But ALL i see are bullys .... I'd truly LOVE to find an old family red like a Wallace or similar but that's damn near impossible... Funny thing is, my family raises NOTHING but bullys (miyagi, juggernaut line, i believe...)and i could LITERALLY get one for free, but I'm still unsure bcuz lineage means a LOT to me.... Not sure what to do... Just KNOW I want a dog again after so many years

My uncle had his pit till it was 15 it was a tiny little thing 40 pounds and was healthy till it died from gum disease it use to chew on bricks trees fire hydrants it could for hours it was the dog that made my brother and I fall in love with bullies but even after saying all that nothing beats the look of a American bully the shear blockyness of them is amazing and I'm sure if you as a little bully max and some lean dense muscle instead of of you more thick chunky muscle ( water weight. ) you could get those extra years and take good care if those teeth everybody the leading cause for death in dogs are gum disease we add cattle milk replacer to the dog food for extra calcium and vitamin minerals but nothing is more important than brushing

I say APBT is better in every way, but the cost of containment for the APBT should be higher with crate eating and dog house eating, and replacing your collars and chains as they wear out. As far as health the APBT tends to get involved in yard accidents or hunting injuries that have an impact on life span. I hated Bully’s for a long time because of them being papered as APBTs, but I think it’s fine for everyone else who isn’t good enough for the APBT.

im a fan of the real pitbull,i love how you clarify the fact theyre 2 very different breeds. is it fair to say.......?????? real pitbulls are dogs selectively breed after the crossing of certain terriers and bull dogs that produce a slim,energetic,athletic dog while bullys are pitbull crossed back with bull dogs for a certain temperament and girth while keeping the desired head shape of the pitbull?????
