Props to the camera guy for getting a nice up-close shot of the sprinkler system in the bottom left corner at 46:32, I couldn't enjoy the show until I was 100% certain that fire safety measures had been taken.
Frankie Bones pretty friggen awesome. But I must say, and with the upmost respect, I haven’t thought about you in quite some time bro. I think I’m gonna jam my Computer Controlled mix CDs on the way to work tomorrow, haven’t gave those a spin for awhile now. Subbed to ya. Lots of great memories jamming your mixes from back in the day.
I fell asleep watching this vid. Smokey McPot is obviously as high as the rest of young society these days. 20yrs later "You know my name" is still in my daily playlist. I must have to attend an Aphex Twin show to understand.
I remember one weekend when Rich popped back down to the Bowgie, he'd just come back from chatting to R&S records about some remixes. He was saying how awesome it was that they left him alone in their stock room of back catalogue and said for him to take whatever he wanted. I imagine that he'd appreciate this comment from you. Thanks for all you did/do for the scene.
The fact that I am one of the few thousands of people on this planet that had the absolute pleasure to attend this gig is probably the luckiest I've ever been in my life. I've never experienced something so ahead of its time, I felt transported one century into the future throughout the entire show.
@@Ed-safeyeh that is true, but i am talking about this specific gig in particular. although realistically, yes, it's just a concert at the end of the day. i'm not denying that i am attributing a lot of personal meaning to it, it was a very special night. cheers!

What you can hear at 0:40 - 2:40 is the sound of the railcar from Andrei Tarkovsky film "Stalker". After watching the movie, I immediately remembered this serene sound. It's all Richard's well-recognized attention to detail. Two great creators met together in such a seemingly insignificant moment. P.S. At the beginning, in can be definitely heard that the Writer says "Кого ?" in russian.
Вспомнил, как увлекался любительской видеосъемкой и снимал дедушку... Его больше нет. Но, на фоне вековой ёлки, он говорил в конце ролика: "Куда"? ("Дед, тебя снимает камера". - "Куда?..") Remembered how enjoyed videotaping (siemens s75) when was a kid. I was takina video with my grandfather. He's gone now. And he asked specific similar question that Aleksandr wrote: "Where".
1:32:55 - gives me so much chills.. beautiful synths, awesome moment, great camera scences,... people just dances, enjoing music, kisses, screaming, just living the moment.. and than.. the awesome analog synthy
What an artist. Britain really does produce some talent. I'm also loving other various UK experimental electronica based acts like Four Tet, Burial, Unkle, Sqaurepusher, Autechre, Massive Attack, Forest Swords, Allflaws
Imagine hearing stone in focus and chilling right out, and getting ready for the set to end, and then it starts back up with DJ SS - Black. 1:44:20 Absolutely ridiculously insane. What a feeling, goosebumps every time i hear this transition.
Richard was actually playing an unreleased song by Squarepusher and then mixing Stone In Focus with the song. Stone in Focus was temporarily slowed in this gig to beat match it with the other song.
Richards set was only supposed to be 10-11.30pm, you can see at 1:33:34 the crowd cheering as the music mellowed out as if coming to a close. To go on in the way he did truly shows his god tier performer levels...
I just can't get enough of the part 1:30:58-1:44:35 . The whole crowd is spectacular, everyone just dancing their minds away, screaming, enjoying it all. The mini live set slowly fading into AQXDM to then into the unreleased squarepusher just blows my mind everytime I hear it. Not to mention Stone in Focus immediately after just feels so euphoric in every way.
I dont think it's over exaggerating to call him the most important thing in electronic music. It was a privilege to experience this in real life and I hope this will set a precedent for the level of excitement and creativity you can put into a set. This is what we neet to all be aspiring to....I suppose we have been for 20 years Rich is just showing he still does it best. DJRUM is the only person ive seen who is coming anywhere near this level of execution, just on a smaller scale. Big respect to you richard for making this a reality I can bet it wasnt an easy thing keep it up keep blowing our minds. And big love to all the music heads reading this.
Yeah, it’s interesting how we’re in the distant future of the time these tracks were written and that their concepts of futurism have remained fresh and deeply relevant
It was a crazy night! The set was only meant to be 90 minutes so I thought the amazing stone in focus bit around 1:44:00 was going to be the end, but then there was another 20 minutes of jungle!
Couldn't believe it when i heard the next track at 1:45:00 (DJ SS - Black).... I remember the first time I heard that on an old DJ Ratty tape in 1995 when i was just 13! (The Edge - The Awakening) What a tune.
@@ashstrange9495 When I looked up that tune afterwards I couldn't believe it because the only other DJ SS track I knew was limb by limb from Father Ted!
1:33:00 - 1:33:30 is 30 seconds that i keep coming back to rewatch for some reason. Just a fukin awesome vibe. DAmn so many mindblowing musical moments in here- floored
1:42:40 I legit began to tear up. I've always wanted to hear His ambinet stuff in front of his usual spastic fans. Stone in Focus changed me musically. SAW II is a gift. Even though it was a small bit he mixed in my life feels so much better now. I love ambient music and RDJ is one of those ppl who was a catalyst in this journey.
Kinda crazy to think someone that was 30 in 1990 is nearly 60 now. Was born in 93 myself but would have loved to have been in my 20s in the 90s. Seemed like a fun time
Yes Accelerator is a great album. Was lucky enough to experience all this music first time round in my early 20s. Great times, still listen to early 90s electronica everyday.
@@clarkanine Haha, you are perfectly right about that ;-) I just chose Mozart to emphazise that his work will be for the future what "classic music" is to us now.
I saw his live set in Sydney around 2013. I still don’t know how to describe it. I’ve been an aphex twin fan since the mid to late 90’s and even that couldn’t prepare me for that show. It’s not the sort of thing you dance to. You just witness it
Damn, sucks I got my seizure prone test back as positive. Guess I'll cheer myself up with watching some youtube and living a normal long and healthy life.
hearing stone in focus slowly fade in made ma feel a whole different type of way, I hope I can see rich just one time :) AND OH MY GOD THE PITCH CHANGE WILL MAKE A MAN CRY
The show was insane, i had some weird dreams last night after the show, there was a point during the gig where i felt i was transcending to another world lol
Well , the rave of the fucking century , brought to you by an incredibly gifted out of this earth if you ask me , Irish man , and his well known wife (nothing is the same without her tbh )
I was there :) Also spotted myself at 1:23:28! (The lads behind me with the book was a book about Gaddafi - very strange haha). Was soooo good. When Stone in Focus came on it was a very profound moment
@@Luckasaurus Haha class mate! I remember the camera coming and you shouting "is this live" or something so I knew you had a trick up your sleeve haha. Good to see you enjoyed it as much as I did!
Will B ahahaaaaaaa I think that was my mate, the camera really took him by surprise! Yeah man it was so sick had a wicked time, hope you enjoyed it too!
Glued to the screen and sounds from A to Z. Headphones vibes in the living room was enough to reenchant my worl. Only Rich does it to me, especially with all those good old acid tracks. Plane took off right away without coming down. A true art performance! THANKS for broadcasting, next time I'll have a red bull, I'll cheer up to Rich :D
Richard, you are my favorite techno artist when it comes to creative techno beats. No matter if generations are new or old, you will always be my favorite.
Was recorded onto vinyl. You can see it on eBay but honestly firstly it’s 500 pound and secondly there’s no way there’s someone so selfless as to upload it in 320 :(((
@@ette1427 Actually those vinyls you see on ebay are little 4 track EP's that were sold only at this london performance, hence why they're so overpriced ;) The entire show isn't on vinyl lol, correct me if i'm wrong, but that'd be like 10 records...
30 years ago I got a cd of my brother I was 19 it was selected ambient 1 as I call it changed my life the Aphex twin is no normal man he is a musical genius we are so lucky to have witnessed him in our time I have his insignia tattooed on my arm and it’s been there 30years my son is named warren Aphex you have witnessed a god all hail the Aphex twin
That tracklist is a little something for everyone with tunes peppered in that are for no one but Aphex. Outstanding job. Up there with the pioneers of dance music IMO
in my head I am here. In the audience, surrounded by sweaty meat-bodies vibing together in collective trance. I miss the masses, looking forward to when we can gather like this again
