BROOO NO WAY I WAS WALKING IN LAX AND THEY WERE PLAYING MUSIC LIKE THIS WITH PURPLE LIGHTS AND AUTOMATIC WALKWAYS AND I CAME TO THIS ALBUM TO SHOW EVERYONE THAT THIS TYPE OF MUSIC WAS PLAYING
I grew up in the countryside as a child, and whenever there was a snow day and school was cancelled, me and my best friend would take the wheels off our skateboards and use them as snowboards on all the newly formed slopes. I would have Xtal & Pulsewidth playing on my mp3 player as the soundtrack to those snow days, I don't know why but something about those two tracks really suited the snowy landscape. Now whenever I hear these tracks as an adult, I get the strongest sense of nostalgia and those magical snowy childhood memories all come flooding back. I can't thank Aphex Twin enough for creating this music. If you ever happen to read this, Richard - thank you for making my childhood just that extra bit more special :)
@@DemonWhisper1 I really want to, but unfortunately we live far away now. So whenever the snow day hits, the roads are too dangerous to drive on ☹ Hopefully one day I will be conveniently round his house before the snow day hits, so I can get trapped there and hit the slopes again. But until then I can keep on reminiscing 😅
@@davidramone3687 Halcyon on and on is brilliant. Strange how the epic tracks are all from early 90s. Sure, 1998..2006 had some really nice trance and techno but it's the early 90s dance tracks that have that optimism. It's the way fwd >>
I also get sea vibes from this track. In fact, a lot of his early stuff evokes images of the sea and the beach. Maybe the coast of Cornwall had a great influence on him.
This brings back great memories from hanging at Fifth Colvmn in DC in the early 90s (across the street from the original 9:30 Club). Spent many a night at both. That era is long gone but the memories are vivid.
Omg, great picture of Richard D. James! Also, I used to wait for the main synth to hit the high note at around 02:30 mark. often tripping and smoking. Mad fucking days.
Yep. I have some fond memories walking through the streets of San Francisco on sunny days and listening to this. That note always hits me and it sounds so right.
Can't believe this was made in my birth year. It took me many years to discover electronic music's true geniuses. As a kid, it was more linkin park and the music my parents listened to.
It sounds like ingenuity, raw intelligence and passion like being so smart at something and creating a masterpiece. It's like a song you'd have in your mind while in your flow state of creating something amazing.
Hentai Gril It sounds more rather nostalgic-futuristic, kinda like in a space, or on an LSD trip or possibly _A E S T H E T I C_ too I don't get it that how it sounds Japanese you are brainwashed by that anime don't you?
