Definitely, it was for first and the only time we had a president who actually matters. Its again become a puppet place for the ruling government after that. I hope we will have better presidents in the future.

@@ShoeBum123 actually, sir, no it wasn't the first time. Mr. Kalam was one of the best presidents, most loved. But we have had great presidents from Dr. Rajendra Prasad to mr. K.R. Narayanan who was known as activist president and he worked very effectively in strengthening indian democracy. I agree that many times presidents. My personal favourite president is mr. K. R. Narayanan.

Lalit Kumar Well respecting should be done by respecting his core principles instead of mocking by worshiping a Muslim that spends his life worshiping God alone. That's actually kind of Insulting, all his life he wanted to educated people as an academic, and look what illiteracy people are engaging in. Seriously if someone tries to worship me for my works, I'll beg God to make a ghost for a day so i can kick some sense into them.

He was once stopped and frisked by the airport security in the US after his tenure as the president. He didn't say a word and went through the whole ordeal. This became a diplomatic fiasco. All through this he was quiet. The security team was fired immediately and the US Government submitted an official apology.

I was in shock when my sister told me that her friend said that Sir Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam is no more. I was like, "No, it can't be. He was fine. Nothing was wrong with him. Till yesterday there was no news about him being ill. How can he pass away so suddenly." But other than that I'm happy he didn't suffer. His death was instant. He might have felt pain for a second. He was a great person. God didn't want to give him suffer.

Believe it or not!! On 26th may 2005 Dr .Abdul Kalam visited Switzerland ..ever since Switzerland is celebrating that day as national science day.

I have been very lucky to have met him! We had a small conversation in my native language, Tamil. I was in 6th or 7th grade at that time. Unfortunately, I don't remember the entire conversation, but the fact that blew my mind was when I told him that I had just started to play the Guitar, he said that he loved playing the 'Veena'. I was very sad on the day he passed away on July 2015. He died while giving a speech and inspiring young minds! That tells you about the dedication of this absolute legend!

So well summed up Rick. This was an example I often shared with my students at a B-school during leadership class, but unfortunately they often felt it doesn’t work today. Leadership is a very skewed concept today. I remember walking out mesmerised from the theater after watching A Beautiful Mind, as a student of psychology. Another one that struck me was Still Alice. Such brilliant ones on mental health.
