Respectfully, the Bible can be endlessly quoted to contradict itself. Every word of the Bible can be dissected as to semantics. What did Christ say was the most important commandment. That should be the focus not endless interpretations and technicalities. I appreciate the traditional values of the Catholic faith but ultimately it is how we treat one another is what matters. Let God be the final judge. That is beyond our understanding.

Belief is a loaded word. I do believe in the traditional teachings of the Holy Catholic Church. However, that does not mean that it should be forced on another. As St. Francis Of Assisi said “Preach all the time and when necessary use words.” That is what the Catholic Church needs to do. Examples are heard much louder. To learn the True Faith takes time. How can you know the Truth if you are not open to hearing it. Anyone listening to the Mass with heart and ears open will know what the Celebration of the Mass is supposed to be about. You can’t make someone believe it no matter why. Pope Francis teaches about abortion being murder. Why even Catholics do not fully accept that is not Pope Francis’s fault. Modernity or whatever reason you come up with is the reason. People are not robots that follow every belief. I love the traditions of the Catholic Church, but dogmas are reserved for very special things. It is true that evil can be very cleverly disguised. Be careful of extremism’s views of the letter of the law over the spirit of the law. That is what Christ taught us.

This is also why I do not recognize the excommunication of Archbishop Vigano as being valid. This Vatican has erred from the faith on multiple occasions. Vigano was excommunicated for calling out the heresy of Bergoglio. 😮😮😮

I am certainly not a fan of Francis, but there is a set process that elects the pope, and it was followed to the letter back when he was elected. Imperfect human beings elect a pope. I just don’t get why people say he’s not pope. Yes, absolutely, he stinks. But he certainly seems to be the Pope.

Bergoglio is a Valid and Licit Pope, ... who also happens to be an Apostate Pope. The first Apostate Pope in human history. Bothe are not mutually exclusive. It's up to the bishops, 'council(s)' to define what this means for the future of the Catholic Church. For now all we know is that Bergoglio was validly elected, licit in acceptance by the general body of bishops, but also happens to be not a mere material heretic, but literally an Apostate.

I spoke with a retired bishop today about Francis's words. When I said the Pope was teaching heresy, he said that folks who did not support the Pope were not part of the Church. The conversation ended abruptly. I did my bit. Hope the Bishop eventually does his.

Solution is to come to catholic church and fight, pray, sacrifice. To leave church just because of what our Lady warned us would happen is now happening is abandoning Christ in the moment of Calvary. He built His church on Peter and it´s the only church - no matter how compromised Peters get. You can see both in protestants and orthodox the moment you separate from catholic church, heresy starts to creep in and you cave to sexual immorality. Nothing which is happening in catholic church since VII is official dogmatic teaching and all will be eventually dismissed. But you will stay in separated groups, excommunicating one another, divorcing, contracepting, re-marrying, frozen because your bishops cannot agree on anything without Peter... All groups which separated from catholic church follow the same pattern. Stay with Peter and trust in the promis of our Lord. There were many anti popes and many crises and we still stand. Your solution is for comfortable people who prefer comfy life to suffering with Jesus and will leave Him for Judases.

This is in keeping with and the obvious development of Lumen Gentium that asserts Muslims adore the One True God with Christians and either intimates or explicitly asserts that even atheists of goodwill might have the hope to be saved. I don't say this to commend Pope Francis, but to demonstrate that the claims of Rome bunk.

I think this proves that one who sits in the Chair of St. Peter can err from the faith in his personal opinions, appointments, and decisions. No pope is “infallible” as a man simply because he wears papal vestments. The teaching of the Catholic faith remains the same always until the end of the age. Matthew 28: 19-20. No pope can change the Deposit of Faith. 👍

If that is the case then why did God send his only son to become incarnate, to die on the cross and rise again for our redemption? Was he having a laugh? Did he have nothing better to do? To say that other religions which deny Jesus or deny he is the son of God are of God is truly a declaration of unbelief in Christ. Okay, so contrast Papa Bergoglio’s statements with the Dogmatic Council of Trent in which it clearly defined *Extra Ecclasiam Nulla Salus*, and one is forced to arrive at the conclusion that Papa Bergolio is preaching manifest heresy and that he has incurred his own Excommunication Laetae Sentenciae.

Yet Orthodox saints who died out of communion with Rome became official Catholic saints. Besides, Vatican 1 teaches that the Pope cannot teach heresy, nor be a heretic. I want to make a statement Tim, and you judge it metaphysically- That which is not substantially constitutive of the Church is accidental to its character. That which is accidental is changeable and therefore no subject of the promises of infallibility. Therefore something like AAS, given that there was once when it was not, cannot constitute in its essence anything more than archive of statements, like a catechism. A catechism is a compendium of magisterial statements, but is not in itself a new magisterial statement or act. The AAS is a compendium of statements, but simply because something is entered into it cannot substantially affect that Church’s magisterial quality, because it doesn’t belong to the essence of the teaching office of the Church- it’s a contrivance, an accident of history. Nothing in it has imparted to anything more than archival value, and nothing entered into it gains more than an archival value. Thoughts?

He denied the exact words of Christ and no one in the hierarchy is doing anything about the apostacy. Christ said the sinner is to be confronted by multiple witnesses, then by the church, and if he doesn't repent, he is to be treated like an unbeliever. Someone obey the Lord.

Orthodox have apparent contradictions with what was said in councils. Every council has violated the canons of eccumenical councils in the past. If the RCC is having a lapse from upholding V1 then I guess we are both wrong (cath/ortho). Orthos are used to having heretic bishops. Pope Francis, even if he is a heretic, has been relevant for only a few years.

There are so many people and language groups that have yet to be evangelized. Are we heading into a time of great tribulation? The probability is incredibly high if it hasn't already started. Is Jesus returning "soon"? Probably not as soon as many think.

Respectfully. To the best of my knowledge this is a skewed way of approaching this. Pope Francis did not condone this appointment to promote abortion, but for the economic knowledge that meets Catholic values and to explore those points of view. She is not using this platform for that purpose. Personally, I am not so extreme that every involvement I make must be with Catholic. Do only Catholic plumbers fix leaks in the churches sinks? There must be limits to these restrictions. She was not brought in to run the Church or formulate theology. I view the secular government and other practical functions of the world the same way. Without hearing verifiable facts of her advising on behalf of the Catholic Church in promoting all abortions. I withhold my opinion against her to the limits I understand it. The United States is not a theocracy. That must be a consideration in my opinion. We know the mistakes of the Catholic Church with those abuses, originally done with the ethos of the one true faith. It now requires a different tact and not absolutism. I am not saying that wrong is right. I am saying there are nuances to be considered. Pope Francis also said that both political parties in the United States have grievous errors in their platforms. So, do we not vote?

It seems like he’s (I’m assuming) saying that other religions represent a search for God, not the way to heaven in the same sense that Christianity teaches Christ is the way (John 14:6). He acknowledges that people in various religious traditions are genuinely seeking to know and encounter God, and that there are truths and goodness in these traditions that reflect aspects of God’s nature. However, he does not suggest that these religions are salvific in the same way that Christianity claims Jesus Christ is. Am I wrong here?

What are you talking? How was that speach a formal teaching? It wasn't even ordinary magisterium, much less extraordinary. Popes are not always protected, see John XXII. But in amoris it was ordinary magisterium, ok - but: If the ordinary magisterium is really fallible, how can it then not not be fallible? See the contradiction?

That is my belief as well that the True Holy Catholic Church is the fullness of Truth, but how Catholics many can truly say they practice it. St. Francis Of Assisi was one of the few. St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta another but she struggled with her beliefs severely. A belied is faith and cannot be proven to utter deniability. Practice is what matters. Any practicing Catholic should know all the important Gospels and more if they listen at Mass at all. It is dangerous to approach someone with an attitude of exclusive dominance of Truth based on a belief. That is where the damage is worse than the good. It must be delivered in a way of confident love, otherwise it risks being seen as a Pharisee or Scribe more intent on the letter of the law than the spirit of the law. Christ dealt with that throughout his entire teaching.

I do not see the big issue here. If God uses someone’s religion to draw them to him and they are saved in their ignorance, that’s not a contradiction to the phrase that Jesus is the only way. Who do you think is doing the saving? This isn’t indifferentism. It’s a recognition of the mercy of God. Of course, all should become Catholic as that is where truth abides in its fullness. What the Pope says also seems to line up with the thinking of someone like Peter Kreeft who I think most traditionalist seem to like.

I do not diminish the sacraments or their benefits and for the basis for them. My singular issue is with those that unfairly place a lack of belief in something that has not been beyond a doubt considered as a culpable sin against God deserving of being condemned to hell or sent through some education camp (so to speak). A person truly acting within their conscience in a true sense of what is good, should not be held accountable and I cannot imagine God doing that. If you know you are doing wrong and still turn your back to God that is different. A Catholic should continue to grow in the Catholic faith to the fullest extent they can with all the beautiful things it offers. It does not however mean that the Catholic faith is the only place I can find God and Truth. You cannot convert someone by gunpoint. We should know by know how that turns out. It is known different in listening to an adamant anti-Catholic who believes they have the only truth. I only know that if I practice the Catholic Faith properly it will only make me a better person. It’s not easy.

His laws are written in our hearts. He provides the grace to all who sincerely seek Him, to convert and become part of His One Holy and Apostolic Catholic Church. If someone is indeed cooperating with His grace, they will become Catholic, and can obtain salvation. That being said, as Catholics, we have a duty to share our knowledge of the Truth to those who are ignorant. Remember... "in what I have done, and what I have failed to do". We will be held accountable for our failure to share the Faith with those in need. Go forth and spread the Gospel to all. Godspeed.

I am a practicing Catholic. With all due respect, even Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta said there will be Hindus, Buddhists and other faiths in Heaven. God chooses his own. I respect other’s consciences. God will decide the severity of sins. Yes, once you know the truth you are obligated to follow it. Interpretations are a sticky wicket. I never second guess God and Mother Angelica said God does not want our love by force. I am a cradle pre-Vatican II Catholic. A very wise Monsignor told me regarding Revelations to look at it as if everyday brings that possibility for you. Focus on that and the rest will take care of itself. Beyond that is more damage than good in my humble opinion. Charity will get you much, much further. We need good Catholics. Judging heresy is something not to be taken lightly. Excepting One God (as the Holy Trinity) considers all children as his. Guilt has conditions to consider. There is a fulfillment of Truth and no one can understand everything. Everything dissolves unto Mystery. Let God be the final judge. Love is what matters. I see no heresy in Pope Francis, but I am not infallible. The God I believe in does not play games. We know the source of that and that is beyond my understanding. It seems to me that a skewed view of the story is being presented.

I really do understand the point you make, truly I do. The problem I have with it is that your point diminishes the sacraments and the consequence of sin and Christ and the apostles’ instruction to be “perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect.” Think about this: if we don’t actually have to confess our horrific, wayward actions, and if we don’t have to follow all the church’s laws, then what are we doing? Why don’t we just do what we want whenever we want? Why are we required to worthily receive the Eucharist during Easter if people who deny Christ get to heaven too? I don’t think those things can be reconciled.
