Given Corey's recent coming out about his sexual abuse when he was a child at the hands of someone older he trusted, this really gets an extra punch to it in terms of understanding his passion and rage. This song has gotten better with time but for all the "wrong" reasons.

Cory Taylor is a legend

Nowhere else remotely appropriate to share this, so bear with me... I'm 34. At 14, I was in 8th grade at a Catholic boarding school in the middle of Indiana, and I had no friends save for one staff member, Mr Shannon. As I got older i got a weird impression of my memories of that time, and now I realize how badly I was groomed by him. He ended up getting fired for touching a kid, which my innocent young self associated with a fight, not a fondle. I was thinking about my time there, and remembered why he got fired and it all made sense, including the things he would say to me and how much time he spent around me. It's really disheartening, because I really thought he was a friend. I was 33 years old by the time I put everything together, and it really just hurts. Thanks for listening.

This song hits me at my core. I had my childhood stolen from me when I was 10 by a church leader when he sexually assaulted me. The church knew he had a history of sexual abuse with his own child and hid it. Corey sings from his soul and I want to hug him and ask him who hurt him so bad.

Why Apocalyptica are so epic? Every song they create is a pure masterpiece!

"And the innocence you spoiled found a way to live." The whole song is amazing but that line is what hits me. Because that is what I take from this song: hope. For me, that is the greatest revenge to the people who hurt me, to show that it didn't break me. That I rose above it and I'm thriving despite what they did. My innocence may have been taken and my soul stained because of it but I am stronger than my trauma and I will keep moving forward and better my life because that is the ultimate win. You are better than what happened to you and you can find a way above it. ❤

When I saw Apocalyptica last year in Atlanta, I got to see this live for the first time since my abuser died. I had my entire childhood stolen from me after being abused from god only knows how young til the age of 14. While my abuser wasn't clergy, he was highly respected within his church. I didn't realize I was going to ball my eyes out while I was singing this at the top of my lungs. It was such a healing moment for me and the start of me healing from the inside out. I didn't know at the time that I needed that amount of healing and completely thought I was through all of it. How wrong I was. To Apocalyptica: You've always gotten me through the tough times. Thank you for making this song and allowing me to listen to it on repeat whenever I need to. You guys are amazing and you'll never truly know how much your music means to me. I cant wait til you guys come back to the states so I can do another 11 shows. ❤❤❤

God. This song is so old now, but it still gives me chills-- it's such an incredible change to see victims of abuse portrayed as powerful and intimidating rather than pitiful broken birds. We're something that our abusers should be afraid of, living proof of their crimes, and that's... something VERY powerful to think about.

God love Corey for accepting his trauma and letting it give him power over his abuser. He's amazing. This song is fantastic. 👌 Rock on Corey. 👍✨❤️

I'm 26 rite now, I was 7 when a older girl "took advantage" of me. I never realized she took my innocence from me until I got older. This song hits hard now that I understand the meaning.

This is a sad song but I get it. That SOB, if they hurt him, is awful. A child is messed up for the rest of their lives. I am so sorry Corey. No child should ever never go through that. They take away your innocence.

As an adult having to keep dealing with the trauma of my own blood paternal grandfather molesting them and knowing their own father kept making sure no justice will be served for me so they can keep receiving a check from them; this song hits so hard. Sure, forgiveness is suppose to be for those who have been wronged but, it doesn't subside the rage inside me. The rage only wants them to suffer as much, if not more, as I did. The suffering wants more than justice now; it wants vengeance.

If any song proves that God doesn’t exist, its this one.

Powerful song which helps give a voice of healthy anger for survivors of child abuse. Has anyone else noticed he sings Hippocratic" in the lyrics "I've thought you were a good man I've thought you talked to God You hippocratic, messianic, child abusing, turned satanic"? Does he mean the abuser was a follower of Hippocrates the Greek philosopher or a medical doctor who pledges the Hippocratic oath? ...or does he mean hippocritical, but that word doesn't scan well? Even though hippocritic is not a word, it would still be more accurate than hippocratic, unless the abuser he refers to was a medical Doctor.

This is a song with a rather serious topic… but the first time I heard it I kept thinking it said “I’m not Jesus, Jesus wasn’t fat” and I can’t get it out of my head.

I didn't listen to this song for a very long time because I was thinking this is blasphemy... But the stress, betrayal, mistreatment Brought me here I again And I realized this ain't blasphemy. It was wrong of me to avoid anger but then again anger saves me from depression instead of avoiding anger I should have utilized it instead.

I had this album as a kid and didn't know the singer was Corey I just found out that it was Corey today (first time listening to it in about 7-10 years)
