The Apollo 11 moon landing was a historic event that took place on July 20, 1969. It was the culmination of the Apollo program initiated by NASA (the National Aeronautics and Space Administration) with the goal of sending humans to the Moon.
The crew of Apollo 11 consisted of three astronauts: Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins. Armstrong and Aldrin were the two astronauts who actually landed on the Moon, while Collins remained in orbit aboard the command module.
The journey to the Moon took about four days. On July 20, Armstrong and Aldrin descended in the Lunar Module, named "Eagle," to the Moon's surface in the region known as the Sea of Tranquility. As Neil Armstrong made his way down the ladder, he famously spoke the words, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind," becoming the first person to set foot on the lunar surface.
The mission collected valuable scientific data and samples from the Moon's surface, and the astronauts planted the American flag to symbolize their achievement. They also conducted experiments and took photographs before returning to the Lunar Module. In total, they spent about two and a half hours outside the spacecraft.
After rendezvousing with Collins in the command module, the crew began their journey back to Earth. They splashed down in the Pacific Ocean on July 24, 1969, successfully concluding their mission.
The Apollo 11 moon landing was a significant milestone for space exploration and a testament to human ingenuity and determination. It remains one of the most remarkable achievements in the history of mankind's exploration of outer space.

Great effect and visuals. I was 9 years old when they landed on the moon. I was very much into the Apollo program when I was a kid. I would write NASA constantly and they would send me photos and pamphlets; their public relations program was phenomenal. My folks let me stay home from school to watch the moon landing. There was an engineer that lived down the street from us, who worked for the Bendix corporation. He worked with NASA engineers and Neil Armstrong and showed him how to deploy a laser reflector that was left on the moon to measure seismic activity, etc. He gave me a picture of him and Neil together and also gave me scrap pieces of space suit fabric and golden mylar, that was used on the moon lander. These people changed my life as a kid. I am forever grateful to them, the Apollo program, and all of NASA in general.

Excelente.

How do you explain the camera shots? Did another rocket accompany Apollo 11 with a film crew who took all those shots from variety of angles ? And there was also a cameraman already on the moons surface who filmed the shot of Armstrong coming out of the rocket and therefore being the SECOND "man to take a small step for man but a giant leap for mankind "? How come there are shadows of the rocket and men when the sun doesn't shine there?

We didn't go once. We didn't even go twice. We went there 6 times. With humans. And almost 20 + in total And it's clearly obvious with the numbers. There were several attempts before with robotics. If Stanley Kubrick made the moon landing on a stage. Then how come he could barely make space odyssey believeable. Oh, right. Because in today's spectrum. I was 14, and had managed to get my first kiss from Phil's visiting cousin- can't even remember her name. Things went south when the Sheriff pulled into the driveway, though. I'd forgotten to inform my Mom where I was going. So The Sheriff snatched me up, left my bicycle there, and took me home!!
@dabprod

@@PurePeacePower Well let me see here....... There was the main ship that was in orbit around the moon with one astronaut in it, while the two in the lunar lander, " tranquility base" landed on the moon with two astronauts in it. When they left the moon, they blasted off and re-connected with the main ship and all three returned to earth. I didn't see anyone taking pics of Armstrong stepping on the moon......? The sun does shine there. They didn't land on the back side of the moon where the sun doesn't shine. Does that help ?

Of all the hundreds of thousands of things NASA had to do right, I believe selecting Neil Armstrong to be the pilot was the most important. We will never know if any other astronaut could have pulled off the first extraterrestrial landing after finding the intended landing area unsuitable. Neil was possibly the best pilot and astronaut who ever lived.
