My oldest brother Mike passed away four years ago at 49 from Alzheimer’s. He lived his life with Down Syndrome and was kind to everyone he met. The Rocky movie series was arguably his favorite, and I have many fond memories of watching these with him. He’ll always be the greatest person I’ll ever know and I miss him tremendously. Just wanted to say thanks Rummy for this awesome tribute to Carl Weathers. You’re channel is top notch and you put your heart into it. RIP Carl and my brother Mike. God bless.

Thanks Rummy for this great video. In 1979 when i was 13 I went to the cinema to see the movie 1941 but went to the wrong theatre, where Rocky 2 was playing. I never looked back. Weathers was great and brought so much personality and charisma to the part of Apollo. RIP Carl

Carl Weathers was one of those folks whose name I knew, but I didnt realize how much of a part of my life he was until news broke of his passing. All I was, was a consumer of some of his content - but that content was pivotal in my own upbringing as well. I feel real emotion knowing that he's gone. This is a good video showcasing his most memorable roles. Thanks Rummy!

Great tribute. Rocky 2 was my introduction to boxing in a similar way to you. Even today, the way Apollo fights is the way i secretly believe all boxers should fight. He had a great 1-2. My younger self took years to re-watch Rocky IV after the first viewing because i was so traumatised by Apollo's death. Worse than when Goose died! RIP Apollo. As an aside, glad you mentioned Rocky learning to swim in what must be a week. Classic 80s nonsense that we just accepted because it was the 80s. Good times.

Thank you for making this tribute video. I was kinda hoping you would & it turns out that your road into real boxing started in the same place, although Rocky 2 was the first I saw. It was an incredible story & Carl's part in this was monumental. He was a great actor & a character that we could all believe in & draw close to. Rest in peace Carl, the final bell has sounded.

Apollo was the most charismatic and hounorable character in the rocky franchise and will stay a love of mine. Carl weathers, the Sun lost some sunlight when you passed.

I hope Mr. Weathers is looking down and smiling on how elegant and touching of a tribute u produced. No other actor could have brought the charisma, energy, or depth. Carl Weathers's portrayal of Apollo Creed is the perfect example of bringing a character to life and because of that, Apollo Creed will be forever memorialized as one of the great boxing heroes in the history of cinema.

I learned a lot from those Rocky movies about grit and character, about showing up and showing off (smile). Thanks for a memorable role Mr. Weathers, and thanks Rummy for a nice stroll down memory lane.

Someone in the theater got so caught up during the fight scene he stood up and cheered in the theater...my favorite memory of Apollo creed!

Without shadow of a doubt, Mr. Weathers is already and will be sadly missed. I still can't believe he's gone. Perfect performance in Rocky series, without him i think Rocky wouldn't have this great success. Remember when he died in Rocky i was devastated and now i feel the same. @Rummy's Corner I always thought that "Eye of the Tiger" meant having no fear. In both Rocky 1 and Rocky 2, Apollo was fighting his fears. His first sign of fear appeared once he was sent to the canvas in round #1 of the first fight. The whole rematch stuff including the rematch itself allowed us to see the best version of Apollo, BUT he was still fighting his fears. i mean, instead of listening to his corner before the 30th and final round, he preferred gambling than playing it safe. He wanted to close the show because he feared being ridiculized by the media or at least in his own mind for not getting the stoppage against Rocky, especially after being prepared that perfectly... In Rocky 3, Rocky's fears is what made him lose the first fight vs Clubber Lang. He was not there mentally... In the rematch vs Lang, he was ready for anything mentally. He didn't have any fear and that's EXACTLY what INTIMIDATED Clubber Lang, causing him to do too much and ultimately get gassed while Rocky was recharging, but yeah in the hell of a fight. Any thoughts?

Apollo was always the most convincing as a boxer. The movies were always known to show how much heart Rocky had but Apollo had every bit as much heart in those fight scenes. From his last one with the Russian and when his coach said “just stick and move” at end of Rocky 2 and he said “ain’t gonna be like last time” and went out and slugged It out. RIP Carl Weathers thanks for the memories sir.

Best tribute video on Carl I've seen so far.

I've always said that the Rocky films wouldn't be as successful if Sly had not found the perfect Creed, and that was Carl. He needed a charismatic, dynamic and athletic antagonist who looked like he belonged in the ring as a champion. It wouldn't work otherwise because Rock was a slow, clumsy brawler who didn't have the kind of star charisma that Apollo had. There had to be a clear delineation between the two to indicate the wannabe and the expert, and Carl was perfect in that role. Apollo seemed to be dominant, not only in boxing ability, but also in force of character. Sadly, Carl has passed away, but like all great actors he left his echo on the screen to remind us, and we can continue to celebrate the man even after his passing.

I saw Rocky III in the cinema when it first came out. I have never seen an audience at a cinema be so involved in a movie experience; it was like we were at a real fight...never been at anything since that got that kind of reaction. RIP Carl.
