UA plug ins are great, only a few more hours I think for the Halloween sale, I already copped a Korg SDD3000 delay and UA610 A model. Saved like $300 :)
Another great video! Would you guys say that using the 610 in the unison slot + either the Fairchild, the 1176, or the LA2A is a great combo for guitar, vocal, bass guitar, and drums?
Thanks for easy tutorial. CD line out into apollo line in, and mic into apollo mic in. Then Can I use sidechain? I want to control music volume when I speak through mic.
*Gear:* TLM 102 mic, Apollo Twin Duo USB, Studio one 3 pro. Using La2a compression, neve 1073 pre amp *Question:* My mic is only picking up -24 on my daw through the unison neve preamp plugin. When it's off I get a louder, normal level. If I put the neve plugin as a "insert", It's much louder and normal but defeats the purpose I suppose if you're not using unison. I noticed if I set the neve input knob (red) to the recommended 40-50 for color, then crank the output knob (white) to the max, I get the ideal level -6dbs average. Is it OK to crank up the output gain knob (white) on the neve to reach the proper levels?

I'm on an Apollo Twin X and, as described at 2:16, since I can't press the knob in to switch between the different preamp knobs like in the standard twin, I'm wondering if there is an alternative way to do so
The amp simulators are Unison-ready, so I insert my Engl or Marshall into Unison insert, and they sound great! But that leaves me with zero options for all the pre-amps and channel strips that go before the amp signal...? Is it pointless to insert all those "unison" preamps, in the "inserts" section?
will apple ever licences the thunderbolt to plug this? i love building p.c.s but my current mother board doesnt have a Thunderbolt plug, and its not so many motherboards with it
I have the Apollo 8 Quad and my screen view of the Console looks different. For one thing, I do not have the dedicated insert window above the inserts. I can't seem to find anything in settings that will do that. I also don't have the File, View, Mapping etc. tabs. Anyone know how to get the screen on the video?
+Terry Holden I think you are over reacting... of course, good mic sounds better and you can of course use good and expensive mic for better sounds. but he's just demonstrating how it could be different by using those plug-ins and I think I could hear the difference very well. after processing, it sounds more clear and not boomy. and in addition, there aren't always affordable musicians in this world, this software gives much more chance to sounds 'better'(even it cant reach to greater) with 'cheap mic'.
They are not always in circuit unless you utilize the UNISON pre=amp. The reason you would want to do that is: because the apollo shuts its own pre-amp off and switches to mirror the circuitry of your chosen pre=amp plugin for more of a realistic sound while recording. In the real world, you have to run your mic through a mic pre like a 1073 before going into the computer. In the plugin world, most plugin companies don[t benefit from you putting the pre-amp plugin on while recording, because they don't are already being colored by the interface mic pre. This UNISON technology is innovative in that it bypasses the Apollos mic pre and the apollo takes on the harmonic and frequency response as you are recording. This is why you would want to have the pre=amp plugins engaged-utilizing the UNISON technology while tracking a vocal or instrument.
Is there a video like this for the MKII and current version of Console software? I don't think the MKII has a button in the wheel any longer how do you access that functionality?
I'm still so confused - what happens if I record with the API vision in the plug-in slot and NOT in the unison slot? What is the difference? Thanks guys

it's possible you'll end up with a less than ideal recording, but the difference wouldn't be huge. Yes, Unison is ALWAYS recorded. So that is a consideration. All good!! We're here to help!
@@UniversalAudio you guys are amazing. Last question I promise - since there's only one unison slot - what if I use that for the neve 1073 plug-in and then use the other slots below (not the unison ) to add my LA2A - will that also allow the LA2A to be in the recording? :)
PLEASE REPLY: Using a sm7b, I get "normal" gain when the preamp is not engaged, but when activating the preamp, I have to max all levels to get enough gain (obviously not good). Any suggestions?

Hi, I am using an Apollo Twin X duo with the new UAD Console, but it seems that "gain stage mode" is no longer available? I am pressing like crazy, but do not have the option to switch between the different gain knobs. So just like with Apple you loose great functionality with every upgrade (actually a downgrade in my opinion)

What that means. I can’t get that. Lol 😂. Hey I tried calling but you guys are always close when I get off work. Question. I can’t seem to connect or play audio from my MacBook computer. Like I tunes. Video on my desk top nor listen to videos on RU-vid thru the AUT. I TRIED System Preferences. Click on sound select output UAT input UAT. so I can watch Learning tutorials thru my speakers using Apollo Twin interface. What am I’m doing wrong?

Here is my point Ill say it as kindly as I can. Im frustrated they dont have these set up at any music place to check out the quality of the sound. I can ask a pro what is the best mic for a apollo twin before its overkill and the dont directly answer back. Its like they want you to jump aboard and put four grand into this thing and hope you can become the geek you need to be to operate it, back in my day it was a simple four track yamaha and a nano verb and your set, Also it seems to be a money pit you try to get someone to tell you how much is all this going to ad up to and they dodge that question. The most expensive old style multi track is five hundred dollars and its easy to figure out that isnt going to be of any decent quality.
you miss the point some of us are not rich , plus if it was all they say it is why not one unit set up at the very least you could check out all the effects and decide which ones you want instead of buying them blind. My impression is its over most computer goer head technically Most of us dont want to take more time in the recording then making the music itself . Plus you have the fact that a computers life is about five years. I just dont see five grand for what I know of it , meaning what they let me know of it. I have not even found a place to rent this set up. I dont know think i would have more fun with a new outboard motor for the sale boat.

Hi, When I tap (or hold down) the nob on the Apollo x4 it doesn't start to control the input gain on the UA 610. Is there something else I am supposed to do to enable that? Thank you
I would love them plugins they just coated too too much for the price they want for one plugin you could get a bundle of something else the sad thing they won't even see that ppl are not rich like them an they company
The plugin prices on their website are just a marketing scheme, they are much higher, but what they do is constantly offering discounts, vouchers... No one buys UAD plugins at original prices, but more for like 50% less...
Im not impressed with the before and after. not impressed with that cheap mic on the guitar. are you sasying this system isnt worth a nice mic for the guitar? im so not impressed Im not even going to fixed the spell check.
