Muta is right. I was working with LS's in the Navy. An aircraft part could go for $15,000 in the real world, but as soon as a company sees that the order is from the military is now cost $150,000. No hyperbole here folks. That's our taxes.
That and the part is “refurbished” rather shoddily. I’ve had engine and electronic failures due to manufacturer repairs. We need to ensure right to repair to protect consumers and the public

Watch a plane come in that looks like a glorified trashcan with wings, something goes wacky once it's on the ground, it gets fixed long enough to get back in the air. And the cycle repeats. It was always crazy seeing that happen over and over.
Aircraft and military service & parts are a bit different since there are contracts and other obligations and liabilities, which might as well come with 10x the cost for the same part but to a different customer. It could be more straightforward of course, but tell that to the lawmakers and judges!
@@rkan2 The lawmakers (and hopefully not judges, but IDK) are the ones receiving kickbacks from these companies that are massively overcharging the government. They have an incentive to allow this.

I think the one thing to emphasise towards the Fight to Repair movement is the freedom to buy replacement parts at reasonable prices, which to many people is oblivious that such a thing still doesn't exist in our modern society. Sure, you don't have to be the person to repair your broken parts yourself, but you need to know that our corporate overlords have lobbied time and time again to block you and your repairman from accessing quality parts and accessories to make your device last longer, maybe not for you, but especially the ones who would inherit your devices once you move on to the new one. And I think this is the gist of the movement.
I have a rotozip with a snapped pinion gear shaft. It's one of the easiest reapairs you can do on that machine. Problem is, I can't find the part, and there's barely any documentation on the damn thing. So I have a tool in perfect working order other than an easily replaceable part, that is comepletely useless because that part is basically unavailable. It's digusting.
I do all my own car repairs and looking into electric cars I realized this was a HUGE ISSUE.... good luck doing any of your own repairs even if you know how because you cannot get the parts without a license...... dealerships have like 400% markup its ridiculous!

I started following Louis Rossman as a "repairman" years ago because he made great vids on electronics repairs but I stayed for the genuinely interesting & conviction driven individual. He says he isn't a hero but he's truly changing things and making a difference viewer by viewer.
Right to repair is really important. And those companies that Rossmann is fighting against will do all they can to to hamper that including feeding doubt and uncertainty against Rossmann's cause. Good on you for correcting this because those companies guaranteed would be promoting what you insinuated as fact just to hurt Rossmann's advocacy.

Nah, it’s the classic 5% of tech RU-vid mistaking their minority views for 95% of the mainstream market. I do agree that Right to Repair is very important, but I’d argue that there is more issues that is so overlooked, it stuns me-I’m not against R2R or downplaying it, it’s been a decade and nothing got done. Many lobbyist does not care.
Farmers deserve to be able to repair their own equipment. It's insane. Forced outsourcing of labor creates extra costs which are passed along to the end buyer. Never thought about the affects on healthcare facilities. The world's a scary place.
Could you explain a bit about the hospital part? I can understand the food part cause the of r2r tractors, but I just don't understand how a hospital would be effected
@@RealJoseph123 it just hasn't had traction, imo. I do think that it's getting more with the help of platforms like youtube. There are definitely more important immediate issues, but a lot of legalization is being focused on at the state level which is a lot easier to work with. Still an uphill battle, but easier than federal.
@@NotMe-ej9yz EKG machine goes down. Certified experienced technician available through a 3rd party. Manufacturer requires all repairs done in house. Won't ship replacement parts. Lengthy repair calls cause people to pay more to get to the front of the line. Line gets longer as there's less machines. Too high of demand along side too short a supply of a service causes that service's price to rise to dissuade demand. But unlike other instances people can't be dissuaded from life saving technology so any price reached, even seemingly unfathomable, is fathomable when considering getting to continue living.

This is not a real apology. Where is the sighing at the start of the video. The constant sighing after each sentence. The teary eyes which are obviously eye drops. Not a true apology unlike Logan Pauls apology after the suicide forest video.

I watch you both and for me when you made that comment I didn't even think about it. I'm not really on sites like Twitter. So I miss a lot of that outrage, which I'm grateful for. I'm also in full support of right to repair because it gives car mechanics a living and let's car enthusiast like myself modified the car to make it more fun, plus I like to work on my own engine, suspension, etc

Even the McDonald's ice cream machine constantly being broken is a Right to Repair issue lol, they're forced to wait weeks for an engineer from the manufacturer to come and do basic repairs & maintenance for astronomical prices
It's a RtR issue as well as a massive conspiracy between McDonald's and Taylor because they get kickbacks from having Taylor be the only people to "repair" those broken ice cream machines (some CEOs in common among the board of directors for both), with some corporate espionage on top (Taylor stealing from Kytch, the company that made a device to decode the obtuse repair messages the ICM would spit out).

I've been watching both of your channels for some time now as I really enjoy the topics you both cover/ discuss and I'm glad things could be ironed out so quickly and civil. The right to repair is something that I hope to see in my lifetime, I cannot count the amount of times I've repaired something by replacing a single part/ wire/ etc. or the amount of times hearing about people that have been ripped off by apple, geeksquad, and/ or similar companies if they needed something simple fixed or that they have to keep replacing something because it's designed so cheaply
Right to repair has been something farmers have been fighting for, because of how companies like John Deere, want to hold the sole right to repair the tractor's

I didn't even think you were taking a shot at him. But I guess I could understand why someone might get that impression. There are a lot of unfair critics of Louis, notably Apple Fans that accuse him of being obsessively critical just to get clicks. Which is pretty silly because the guy does board repairs on half of his videos which very few people actually watch. He's never had a patreon, and genuinely seems to do less self promoting than most.
This is how online beef should always be handled. People make mistakes, get made aware of that, and everybody comes together and handles things amicably as friends. Fantastic content as always from both Muta AND Louis!

A couple of weeks ago I saw an image of a “totaled” tesla, with a dent in the back bumper. Shit is so bad and it’s getting worse Even “normal” appliances like microwaves, laundry machines, etc, were done to last and be repairde. I need a laundry machine now and I’m scared af about the idea the thing breaks the day after the warrant expires
