Fun fact about Steven Universe and its history of censorship in the UK/Russia is that the creator of the show, Rebecca Sugar got so annoyed that she wrote CN into a corner with one of the single most important episodes of the series. Two characters in that show, Ruby and Sapphire, are explicitly in love and are both women. They even were given multiple scenes where they kiss directly on the lips. But in countries where it was censored; Ruby, the more masculine presenting of the two, was given a male voice actor and referred to by male pronouns in the dubs. To combat this in the future, a later episode has the two characters have a formal wedding, but Rebecca made the deliberate choice to put Ruby in a wedding dress and Sapphire in a tux so that if they pulled the usual trick of making Ruby a guy it would still be pretty gay. Normally that would just mean the episode would not be aired at all in the countries that censored it, but this wedding episode was also the climax of one of the biggest story arcs in the series, and the episode following it would not make any sense if it was skipped. This forced the studio to either publish the show as is or be forced to carry on with the skip in continuity and risk losing a bunch of viewers and money.

Aah steven universe, the biggest fuck you to states banning gay media! That is one of my favourite stories of all time! The fact that they took the character that was censored as a boy and put her in the dress and the girl in the suit is such a power move! And Reunion is still one of that show's strongest episodes! The writing after that took a hit tho due to the gay Wedding making cn shorten the final arc from 13 to 6 episodes, but I still absolutely love the show, one of my favourites!
