Fitbit is acceptable while garmin is a multisport extremely loaded app that a beginner or professional athlete would use to track fitness progress. Fitbit is for exercising while garmin can do everything fitbit offers but its also for competitive athletic training . Experience wise fitbit has the depth of a pool garmin is a ocean.
That’s definitely the biggest difference. Fitbit’s is just an everyday health tracker with some fitness tracking on the side, while garmin is a fully fledged fitness tracker
This was super helpful! I bought a charge 5 a year ago as my first fitness tracking watch and have been thinking about upgrading to a garmin. This definitely helped solidify that decision.
What keeps me always going back to Fitbit is I like the social challenges and the badges they offer. It pushes me and to go harder when I’m competing in the challenges, and I love trying to get all the badges. I really wish other brands would implement it with their watches.
I like your review and you did a pretty good job. If you are a runner though, not just a casual jogger, but a real runner that puts up Miles every week then you should buy a Garmin for sure. Garmin forerunner watches are definitely the way to go. They sync with the Garmin software, Strava, and the Nike run app. Fitbit does sync with strava software. Garmin even synced with My Fitness Pal for free. Plus when you get a Garmin you get about 20 different watches to choose from. I really don't even like comparing the two. Garmin is the top GPS fitness watch in the world right now. Fitbit is just for the average Joe or step counter. I would compare the Garmin to other great fitness watches (Coros, Suunto ,Polar) or the Oroa ring. The new Garmin Fenix 7 and Epic watch are probably the two best fitness smart watches ever.
HR and sleep monitoring are better in fitbit devices than the fenix so if you're a runner or do multiple activities it still makes sense to purchase a fenix, but if you do it occasionaly and don't want to spend much maybe a fitbit device is good. Also the price tag is very different so if you're getting started and your need changes you can always pair your device with HR band and in the end that gives you the better read than any watch.
Very in depth and informative review! I've been a Fitbit user for over 5 years now, but have family/friends who swear by the Garmin watches. This video has been very helpful for me as I'm looking to possibly switch over to the Garmin.
So get garmin if you can or Fitbit. I think I understand garmin phone stuff is better and doesn’t cost extra. Maybe I need to rewatch this a few times more
nice review . i think i would go for the fitbit app for the ease of use.. for the watch point of view.. what is the watch from garmin comparable to fitbit charge 5?
The Fitbit app just went downhill. Charge 6 will no longer have an altimeter, no more floors for you. At the end of the day, all I want is calorie burned, steps and miles, floors, and most importantly, badges.
it's a shame you didn't talk about their diet tracking tools too, connect can sync with my fitnesspal, where as the fitbit app has built in calorie tracking and suggested recipies and such
