It is a good thing that this show was released weekly, cause watching tales from ba sing se and appa's lost days back to back would've been waaaay too much.

20:48 one of my favorite moments in this episode is when Pathik ASKS Appa permission to touch his horn & attach the message. After everything Appa has been subjected to, this guru respects Appa’s agency and bodily autonomy and is so gentle and patient with him.

EMOTIONAL DAMAGE Our boy's going through it right now, only having three peaceful encounters in this ordeal, the little boy, Suki and the Kyoshi warriors, and the Guru And I like the little details they through in to get a point of reference where Appa has been while we were following Aang, from the mushroom cloud, Zuko and Iroh on the ship, Suki saying she left team Avatar, and even seeing one of the Panther cats on a roof that lead Momo to Appa's footprint as Appa was descending in in this episode

you came for healing, the show gave you the episode charged with the most feelings

So theres a weird line a few episodes back where Aang says "He's here. I know he is." when entering Ba Sing Se. But according to this episode Appa didn't get there well into Team Avatar being there. Its funny that a line that had so much of the "everything is connected" type ideology we've seen this season.

This is a full length episode but there is notably few lines in it. - Appa’s capture in the Desert has some lines from the sandbenders and Toph - Appa’s sale to the beetle-headed merchants has some lines from the sandbenders and merchants - The Circus has lines from the trainer, owner, and the two crowd members - The family who tried to get Appa out of their barn-thing has a few seconds of dialogue - The Kyoshi Warriors talk back-and-forth a bit before comforting Appa and getting ambushed by Azula - Guru Pathik comforts Appa and tells Appa that he’s been waiting for Aang - Aang choosing Appa as a child gets like two lines - Iroh telling Zuko to go back to sleep after seeing Appa I think that’s *All* the lines in this episode. And yet it hits so hard emotionally. Really well done. Even the Dai Li and Long Feng don’t get any lines!

"I just finished bawling my eyes out watching AOT" Uh oh...

1. Yes the guy on the ship is Hakoda, the father of Sokka and Katara. 2. I know it's surprising to see sometimes how strong Appa is, but that's only because just like the Air Nomads, Sky Bisons are also peaceful. Just like how the Moon was the first Waterbender and the Badgermoles were the first Earthbenders, the primordial Airbenders are the Sky Bisons (not going to say anything about the Firebender part because that's spoiler), therefore it's not really a surprise that Appa is VERY STRONG. And also how you can see that the Waterbenders have one primordial who is literally not present half a day, and Badgermoles don't really interact with people since they live underground mostly, but Sky Bisons are there with a very close bond to their human bender brothers. There is a reason Fire Lord Sozin(grandfather of Ozai and Iroh, great-grandfather of Zuko and Azula, the guy who started the war) even though knew the next Avatar would be an airbender and would be very convenient to attack while that Avatar is still a baby, there is a reason he rather waited 12 YEARS until the comet came, because he knew if he would try to go up against them without the comet he would get L+Ratio'd by the Air Nomads HARD. You remember how in the room where Monk Gyatso(Aang's teacher) died there was also like 30 fire nation soldier corpses. COMET POWERED FIRE NATION SOLDIERS! Master Airbenders are fucking gigachads 3. There is a nice little detail which everyone misses which I don't hold against anyone, I have rewatched this show several times by the time I noticed. When the merchant says "We need the Shirshu spit darts" the Shirshu is a species we already have met in season 1, the one with the good nose and PARALYZING TONGUE. I love this detail cause they could have said any creature name or not even say creature name just call it sleep darts or smth, but the writers instead kept the continuity of already established world building in such a small detail.

By the end of this series, all the tears will increase our sea level by a millilitre

This episode won a Humane Society Genesis Award for its depiction of animal cruelty in the Fire Nation circus scene.... Just a little side note

I read something very sad when I saw a different reaction… Appa shows a lot of signs of a animal that’s about to accept death in this episode :(

If you want something happy, I recommend Nichijou, it's a pure comedy, classic one, you will laugh your stomach out with this Also K-on, Amagi Brilliant Park, Barakamon, Shikimori is not just a cutie, My dress up darling, Kobayashi's Dragon maid AND! Also you can just watch some Ghibli anime, they are almost all have that "healing" effect you're searching for :) you can even watch it without reacting, just for yourself

i loved atla so much as a kid (too) and i still remember trying so hard not to cry at the scene where appa went back to the temple and bites the ring that was made for the sky bisons, only for it to have so much dust on it because all of his fellow bisons are dead and it hasn't been used in a century...

We told you ba sing se wasn't gonna be happy. It was heavy. Not just The ep called Tales of ba sing Se. This entire arc here is gonna be that heavy. And we're just now getting into the thick of it. Also when you say Jojo is happier.. I worry Alicia xD

Girl if you need a happy place I recommend starting Spy x Family! It's a very "feel good" comedy anime that will help you cope with the other series

I don't know if because I'm older and better understand the significance of the stuff in the show, if it's all the analyzing that she does, or just her crying that gets me all teary eyed but I don't remember feeling like this when I watched this show as a kid or even when I revisited it a few years ago.

So… funny thing: when I was watching your reaction to this, I was actually listening while on a walk. At one point, an ad for Better Help came up, and I thought it was a bit that was edited into the episode on purpose.

@Aliciaxlife Another fun fact... If you look closely in the scene where Appa enters Ba Sing Se, the pantherlings are on the roof and watched him fly in. There is even more ties to other things if you wish to know.

I am trying to think of a purely happy show I could recommend after hearing you be so troubled by all the other show dramas, but nothing came to mind xD At least nothing thats purely good and not simply a fairly boring slice of life. Even stuff like Romcoms are almost always driven by Drama. Or, I guess there is one that has none and is just a wholesome and nice story. If you want something non-sad thats also good in general maybe check out "Horimiya". But yep, got nothin else on my mind rn. Might edit if I remember something.

Yeah appa's days was really hard to sit through as a kid. I remember being really sad seeing appa in that little caved scared to meat the kiyoshi warriors and was so mad when Azula showed up at the literal worst moment.

I think they’re called buzzard wasps. Guru Pathik is my favorite part of this episode. Also, is your character model based off the Gerudo from Legend of Zelda? Also, now you understand the bond between airbender and bison.

Just a tip, if you want an anime to react to that is almost pure sweet happy moments, My Dress Up Darling is a surprising banger. I'm not usually one for slice of life, but it was a fun watch.

If you need a strictly light hearted show I would super strongly recommend one of my favorite female-centered/slice of of life animes of all time called "Princess Jellyfish." It is only good feels and has gotten me through dark times in the past :) I hope you give it a chance!

If you want a happy anime I recommend Haikyu. Literally just volleyball babies being volleyball babies, yeah there's sad episodes, but they're like healthy sad they teach you stuff. Ultimately it's a feel good anime tho so sillyness and success aren't too far behind said sad scenes to pick you up!

That Guru is old AF, since he presumably looked like that at least 100 years ago. You'll find out more about him soon, but know that there's a darker side to him that you'll find hinted at in Legend of Korra

So...if most of your subscribers are like me, your reactions to sad stuff are your most enjoyed. With that in mind I'm pretty sure most of the shows suggested to you are BECAUSE of the sad moments. Avatar is full of a lot more than sad moments but you've gotta get through them. By watching so many different shows, you're putting yourself in the saddest parts for longer periods of time that way. I really hope you get back to watching more Avatar per week. It's pretty much the only show I enjoy watching 'with' you. Did you ever finish Genshin's Archon quests in Sumeru? I'm dying to see your reaction to them.
